I do not think we should be able to the other nations page and see their military units. The alternative I propose would be to make it a spying option. Also, maybe make a project that would let the leader set the number like he/she wants to. For example, you could set it to be way lower than reality and wait for someone to start war and demolish them or you could discourage people by putting a number higher than reality.

Add a yearly big championship with a treasure (like a baseball cup or something) as a prize for the 1st place.
