  1. I'm not sure it goes that far. It's feasible he's a sarcastic agent provocateur who's lost track of what he's doing. He could be trying to present a strawman communist position in order to convince others to be anti-communist. It's like trolling, but not really.
  2. Mate, I expanded the topic to ideology in general. The questions I asked you were to see if you were reasonable in general in your treatment of ideology. Communism doesn't get special treatment just because. It gets critiqued the same way as any other ideology out there.
  3. I'm seriously convinced this guy has a limited attention span. He's only responding to what's right in front of him instead of remembering the train of thought of how we got here. If you're not a Marxist, you shouldn't be making an appeal to Marx to prove the logic behind your ideas.
  4. Pantheon now added to insane. :-P
  5. Marx, capitalism, and communism aren't the point. I was testing you to see if you're a logical, rational, and thoughtful person. Instead, you just revealed you're no different from an anti-intellectual dogmatic conformist. Karl Marx is your Jesus Christ. Communism is your Christianity. Das Kapital is your Bible. Talking with you has only one difference from talking with the other - semantics.
  6. Well that's disappointing. If you have a prototype product that needs improvement, you don't scrap it. You make it a work in progress and get it done.
  7. Without getting too complicated, just do this: Let players organize up to 16 player leagues. Everyday, everyone in the league plays everyone in the league twice home, twice away. That means any given team will have 4 games * 15 opponents = 60 games. Make games pay 10x as much as they do already. I say this while keeping in mind that I currently play over 500 games everyday. Maybe make it 8.5x if you want to compare to me. If you do this, then there's no need for capchas since people couldn't run a bot to play games, and everyone would easily participate. You could also let leagues decide how money gets split in sharing ticket sales and how much the winner gets. That would fix the broken money distribution the game currently uses.
  8. That's not what I said. You're ignoring the difference between people and others. "...so you're saying people have to put up with others saying, "X might work. You have to put up with it until you prove that it doesn't," instead of others showing why X does work. " The point here is you're telling me some people are entitled to waste other people's time, energy, and attention just to satisfy the curiosity of their experiments instead of people being allowed to carry on with their own experiments in life.
  9. ...so you're saying people have to put up with others saying, "X might work. You have to put up with it until you prove that it doesn't," instead of others showing why X does work.
  10. Perhaps... ...but sometimes, the not so serious answers prove who the insane ones are. :-P
  11. I just wanted to make a thread where people could list the alliances they think are rational, reasonable, thoughtful, and logical versus those that are out of their minds, leave you scratching your head, and make you wonder if they know what they're doing. This isn't a thread about being good versus evil, skilled versus unskilled, or likeable versus unlikeable. It's just about whether alliances are sane or not. Anyway, this is how things seem as far as I can tell so far: Sane Masonia (No longer exists 5/28) The Bloc Death (No longer exists with relevance 5/26) Resplendent Knights Templar Zodiac UPN (5/19) GCB (5/25) Insane House Stark Ragnarok Commonwealth Black Knights NPO HBE Pantheon (5/18) Syndicate (switched on 5/19) TFP (5/19) USRGC (5/26)
  12. Communism aside... ...are you saying people have to waste their real time, energy, and attention just to entertain the fantasies of others?
  13. Milton is a fine example of Poe's Law, eh?
  14. When you're warring as a "new nation" but can't post ammo purchases because it's below the average market value...
  15. Milton sounds like your typical wise guy who loves to waste your time just for the fun of it to get negative attention. He wants you to prove him wrong instead of proving himself right. Whatever. He doesn't even sound like a real communist at that. Communists are concerned about the working class and labor theory of value. This guy says that nobody succeeds through hard work... ...and then, he has the audacity to use the No True Scotsman fallacy. /facepalm
  16. I hear you there. It just seems backwards. Low levels of infrastructure should be easy to dismantle. You're talking about basic roads, power lines, plumbing, etc. High levels of infrastructure should be hard to dismantle. You're talking about highways, power substations, sewage purifiers, etc. I mean if I give some troops pickaxes, shovels, and sledgehammers to tear infrastructure apart with, I'll have a much easier time than you. Maybe a middle ground can be demolition team investment. The more you invest in demolitions, the easier it is to demolish infrastructure.
  17. Yea, but attacks don't deal anywhere close to enough infrastructure damage for that to be a serious tradeoff. That's why I made the 500% comment above.
  18. As it stands, you just end up trading attacks with fortifications with someone who doesn't really defend oneself. It results in a ridiculous draw even if the defender has zero units. All the defender has to do is keep no cash on hand by regularly depositing into an alliance bank, and there will be no exposure whatsoever. Yea, you can destroy infrastructure and possibly hit improvements, but the amount of infrastructure destroyed and chance of improvements getting destroyed are so small that it's pointless as well. Maybe if those numbers were multiplied by 500%, it'd be worth it, but as it is... ...meh. One alternative would be a three tier spoils of war setup. You would get 10% of the enemy's resources if you totally wipe out resistance, 10% if you reduced the enemy's resistance more than it reduced yours, and 10% if you finished the war with more resistance than the enemy. This would be great if the amount of resistance gained from fortifying was reduced from 10 points to 7.5 points so the last tier of 10% would be more obtainable by the side that engages more.
  19. Now, I'm a young nation instead of a new nation, but I still get the message.
  20. ...and now, I can't post aluminum purchases to build military buildings with because the marginal price of $1402 is too far below the average price. Seriously, why can't you guys just change the restriction to focus on marginal instead of average prices?
  21. Same thing just happened today with food. I can't buy 150 food for $83 each. Ugh...
  22. Eh... Capitalism is best because it allows people to succeed by working smart, not hard. Communism is worst because it depends on people constantly pushing their nose to the grindstone to show they're valuable members of the working class. Ambition gets killed because people are told to work hard. They sacrifice long-term efficiency for short-term effectiveness.
  23. Oh... and all the criticism in this thread against ideology in preference of empiricism is nonsense. In reality, there's a difference between facts and evidence. Just because things happen doesn't mean things are recorded. Likewise, records can be fudged. Human nature is fallible. We use ideology to bridge the difference between facts and evidence as well as address the fallibility of human nature.
  24. Why do you believe communism is orderly or distributes surplus? Communism ultimately boils down to a cult of personality in how democracy works. It's a popularity contest in the definition of useful work. That sort of chaos inevitably results in a deficit. If you want a sense of fraternity, then create or join a club.
