  1. Northern Front Uvalde; Leaky VII Korps and XIV Shock Korps speed past Uvalde to arrive at Leaky and then take the opportunity to turn west. XIV Shock Korps zooms further past VII Korps to deploy on their northern flank; both corps set their eyes on a town near the provincial borders: Del Rio. XIV Shock Korps includes veteran formations from the Caedis Wars. Among them are the 224th "Guards" Division-Chünezhnar and 12th "Guards" Division-Chünezhnarchonzherte. To their south are the similarly experienced Pords of the VII Korps; notable formations include the Nave'an brigades of the 14th "Guards" Division-Assault Paramarine "Siege of Hui" and the 15th "Guards" Division-Assault Paramarine "Ghosts of Farai." With the Korps still airborne, they zoom onward before coming under heavy anti-aircraft fire. The skies are drenched in enemy ordnance and the escorting Cholanrüchen type gunships, now with task, sprint out to meet this new threat. Heavy 2,000kg SuR bombs, calibrated for atmospheric usage and thus travelling at considerably less impressive velocities than .9c, are soon loosed in response (as well as a veritable hailstorm of Strint torpedoes and Array fire) - all concentrating on the northern sector of the Mayan forces along the borders. Behind the now aggressive escorting gunships, the Chlümüchgrazhni types settle on the ground to disgorge their men and equipment, having been forced down considerably west of Leaky but still nearly sixty kilometers east of Del Rio. Tens of dozens of craft can be seen on fire or dropping out of the sky while even smaller dots - men, perhaps - trail behind them. Central Front Crystal City Jlokhemit's Trident! Heinz Topp exclaims as he observes the situation. The Mri assault has begun and they are throwing themselves against the enemy with a vigor not seen since the days of FB-1. They have made first contact. Lucky bastards, he notes to himself in a low voice. Above him, thousands of guns echo in concert as they unleash torrents of hatred upon the Mayan positions; the Chlümüchgrazhni gunships, large enough to haul an infantry squad or move entire vehicles, are both numerous and dangerous. A few enterprising pilots, upon seeing the effects of the hostile repulsion fields, take it upon themselves to close even further with the enemy. As they tear through the column above the enemy formation it seems almost as if the ground infantry can just about discern the faces of the Pords piloting them through their shielding and thick canopy bars; the gall is near palpable as more than a few attempt to push their way through the offending fields... But now, with his division fully deployed, he take solace in the fact that his will be the first Paramarine formation to make contact with the enemy. He knows he won't have this luxury for long (even as he considers such things three more Paramarine divisions - the rest of I Paramarine Korps - deploy in a great semi-circle around the city leaving the only a single path of entry or exit: a narrow strip that heads southwest), but it is a luxury he enjoys nevertheless. Voznayna, he orders his tanks. At the front the leading Paramarine tanks begin to behave differently. At first it likely would not be easily detected, but as more time passes, it becomes clear that they are no longer scouting and probing. Torrents of combined Array fire streak down from above the Mayan positions, courtesy the previously deployed PBA probes, from armour that is easily beyond visual range and speeding along at considerable clips. They had already scouted the hostile locations. Now, with this information, they direct ordnance down upon the enemy with exceedingly accurate fire. But they are to the south of the city and slowly begin advancing towards it, heading in a general northern direction via great zig-zagging tracks that take them west, and then east, and then west. Speeding in behind the Paramarine tanks are infantry clad in heavy Amaruq power armour. They lug with them heavy weaponry: 45mm machine cannons and 65mm canister autorifles. For the most part they are carried by very low flying Voznay type IFVs, but others seem to have hitched rides with the tanks operating further forward. For the first time in the battle, the distinctive crack! of heavy Nalydian infantry weaponry can be heard as the Paramarine squads - moving in very loose order - close in on hostile positions towards the furthest extents of the ruins of Crystal City. But the opposition would not see their blue trim nor their capes or steely armour plating. To them the Pords and their vehicles would be but dark spectres, invisible to thermal sensors and free from naked eye spotting, concealed within the dark, putrid cloaks of their Arrays. At the rear of the initial prongs of the Pordish assault, lighter infantry finish establishing the artillery base Generalleutnant Topp previously ordered. Heavy Array shielding hems the firebases in and beneath the dark sheaths sit rows upon rows of Chorzherov and Reknugrazhni type artillery pieces. With the VRZ assault beginning in earnest, these pieces saturate the battlespace; the superdense plasma shells of the Chorzherovs streak towards Crystal City, their size and weight easily mistaken for standard kinetics. But upon impact the truth is revealed: they are superheated plasma pressurized to such a degree within their casings that the shells are equivalent to kinetics in density and heft, but explode with the relative ferocity and heat of the interiour of a star. Supporting these mobile artillery pieces (who fire off rounds in sections of four, relocate, and then fire again) streams of missiles are loosed into the skies; they arc high above the deployed armies and then crash down - tens of thousands per wave, with seven or eight minutes of down time between salvoes as haulers and infantrymen hurriedly reload them. Southwestern Front Encinal The trio of Cholanrüchen gunships power through the air column well in advance of the Nalydian armada to the west of Encinal, nearly right on top of the provincial borders. They duck into a cloud bank and then emerge on the opposing side. Passing forty thousand feet, they focus their sensors on the soil and ground. Looks like we've found the whole Jlokhemitdamn Mayan army, one calls to the other through comms. You've got that right, the second replies. A communique is sent back to General Keegan detailing the expected size of the hostile army. Keegan doesn't reply to them directly, but does notify his corps commanders of the development. He tells them to be careful, but as per usual they are given discretion on how to operate. They need only accomplish his overall objective; how they go about doing that is entirely up to them. The lead plane shudders and explodes and begins to limp out of the sky. The second ship in the formation pulls up alongside it; the second ship's pilot peers inside and can see the navigator is dead and the pilot appears to be unconscious. He shakes his head and pulls away as the Mayan anti-aircraft fire begins to open up in earnest, blanketing the sky with vast swathes of gold and silver. They watch as the Mayan fire intensifies and legions of heavy gun batteries open up on the forces now assaulting Crystal City; they but catch glimpse of the technicolour array of defenses going to work in protection of those forces - PBA probes, perhaps even more numerous than the Mayan artillery now directed at the Pords, heavy static shielding, and shepherd gunships detaching themselves from the main force. They can only imagine the level of firepower successful in breaching them. Through their comms they hear calls for counterbattery fire as they cycle through channels and explosions go off in the background. But from their distant vantage point, they are unable to ascertain as to the effectiveness of these new enemy batteries. Nevertheless, they are soon rejoined with the primary Nalydian aerial armada, now under heavy fire as well. And as happened further north, the hideous wall of anti-aircraft fire is much too treacherous to actually advance through. They come upon the landing zone of the southernmost corps in Keegan's army, XIV Korps and VIII Shock Korps, and gaze upon the machine-like precision with which the gunship pilots drop off their cargo and return to the skies to fulfill even greater duties, and they admire ballet-like gracefulness of the blue-clad Paramarines and azure-robed Yamsai'an Guard as they assume their positions and work feverishly to bring Array shielding online.

  5. Near Crystal City A gunship explodes in dramatic fashion, catapulting its contents down towards the cold, hard, dirt. The flaming wreck careens out of the sky as the first signs of enemy artillery fire begin to pick up. The gunship pilots, mostly concerned with the overall lack of concentrated sheet AA, are somewhat relieved. Array defenses begins to go to work, and the vast disparity in firepower between the fewer-than-dozen defending artillery pieces and the incoming Nalydian armada is made apparent by the relative failure of subsequent shots directed towards them in bringing down further aircraft. The lead formation in the pack, the 1st Division-Assault Paramarine, nears the battlezone. Its commander, an aged member of the Old Guard by the name of Heinz Topp, is first to radio back to General Keegan: We have breached Mayan airspace, Herr General. Jlokstazh Eshirna! He looks at the map of the battlefield and notes the presence of Mayan forces gathering to contest his men near the next town in the line, Crystal City. Many of the towns and villages in this area already appear to have drawn the ire of the Maya. He would shake his head if he could bring himself to care. He motions to the ground and the gunship acquiesces. The others in his formation follow his lead. The formation takes up positions slightly northwest of Cotulla, a city to the southeast of Crystal. The infantry begins to dig in and establish positions for artillery while initial prongs of armour - PTM-1 type hover tanks - start preliminary scouting of the hostile positions. Small PBA probes can be seen dotting the skies while Cholanrüchen gunships screech and howl through the mist, searching for targets in the open, and when found, they unleash torrents of Array fire and drop off Strint torpedoes. While the heavier batteries prepare and the tanks begin to move, the Chlümüchgrazhni gunships that ferried the force into the field, now without task, retrain their attention to the town of Crystal City: after dropping off supplies, men, and equipment, they return to the skies and begin to shell the city and conduct counter-battery fire with their underfuselage howitzers. In response to the Mayan request: We are now engaged in a state of war. Signed: Generalleutnant of the Voznayte Rekazhgrazhni Zhamra, commander of the 1st Division-Assault Paramarine, Heinz Topp. Uvalde, Leaky, Encinal Paramarines of VII Korps near the city of Uvalde (north of Crystal City) while elements of XIV Korps approach Encinal. XIV Shock Korps accompanies the northernmost Paramarine force while VIII Shock Korps is with the Paramarines of XIV Korps. XXIX Korps covers the space between Uvalde and Encinal with I Korps, LXIX Korps, XLIII Korps and XX Korps supporting. Unsurprisingly, the bulk of the Pordish forces have not yet landed, however scans have begun to implicate the positioning of the Mayan army. Mass disturbances to the west of the current VRZ and ZJR locations indicate a large force is approaching, and their extent is taken into consideration. To the west of Encinal but still not yet on top of the provincial borders, a trio of Cholanrüchen gunships extends out in front of the main force. They scout the area and will report back what they find.
  6. OOC: This thread will serve as an example for an Organically Roleplayed conflict. Everything that follows is completely unscripted. Any questions, comments, or concerns, please PM either me, Sacred Lights, or Mriverse. IC: Gulf of Mexico Alternate Timeline Orbis-63 Three kilometers beneath the azure hues of the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, a half dozen Kenzhelengrazhni type transports sit idly as they hide beneath the drop of the continental slope. They have recently arrived - after traversing the stormy Atlantic - and are poised to begin their operation. With them are perhaps a dozen or so Tylaq Balnook type runners; with the sun just barely edging over the horizon, the time has nearly come for them to make their move. In the hangar bays of the transports, Pords scurry about, shuffling around ordnance and double checking systems. Pilots hurry to their craft; they are familiar with what the daylight will bring and they are ready to endure it. Many wear headbands - Melysh - with the likeness of a tundra wolf emblazoned upon them. Klovnar, grand god of wolves, was the first to show Pords how to hunt as a pack and now his guidance will be called upon once again. The extensive hangar bays of the first transport begin to open and a vast torrent of water rushes into the ship; moments later a torrential wave of Cholanrüchen and Chlümüchgrazhni type gunships sally forth from the vessel's pregnant interiour. The next transport mirrors the first. And then the third. And the fourth. It does not take long for the entire force to emerge from the vessels that carried them. They circle briefly as they wait for the component units to coalesce, and then they set course for shore; they explode from the depths and power through the air column, the tens of thousands of craft easily blanketing the skies. They target the River Nueces and use its southeasterly course as the epicenter for their arrival and will soon be upon the city of Mathis. The first to emerge from the morning fog are the thirty-four thousand strong Paramarine assault units of the I Paramarine Korps; VII and XIV Korps are only slightly behind - and flanking them - (to the north and south, respectively) with another seventy thousand men. The various gunships glisten in the sun and the massive turquoise tridents upon their wings can clearly be distinguished. On their heels are XIV Shock Korps and VIII Shock Korps with XXIX Korps in tow; four more corps zoom westward lagging only just to the rear: reserves, extra troops, siege artillery. The Paramarine objective is simple: locate and mark pockets of heavy resistance, coalesce and overwhelm pockets of lesser resistance, and remain air mobile. Operating in conjunction with them are over half a dozen corps of standard ZJR ground forces. With their heavier equipment they are tasked with engaging pockets of heavy resistance and overcoming the bulk of the hostile land army. General Keegan had drafted the invasion plan with input from Feldmarschall Reid. The crimson-caped leader of the Adgu was the first to theorize the concept of hypermaneuverability. Keegan, Peterson's old war horse, is eager to witness it in action. What is on your mind, general? Keegan is quiet. He had ordered his force to maintain silence as they begin the operation to achieve as much surprise as possible. It is not a flawless plan, but he nevertheless hopes it will pay off. The transit across the Atlantic has gone remarkably well, all things considered. Once the Paramarines make contact they will notify us. Keegan's aide nods. Best you didn't join the initial assault, general. General Keegan turns. Perhaps, he says looking to the displays...
  7. Completely understandable, but also taken into consideration with the ruleset. Obviously people should not be posting about conquering another's nation overnight and attempting to enforce these claims; such things go against the spirit of Organic RP (no realistic progression and it's a major breach in etiquette). Not necessarily requiring consent does not actually equate to "I take over your land and kill all your manz..." Quite the opposite, in fact. It implies that the individuals are open to and eager to participate in unscripted national roleplay. At the end of the day the point of roleplay is to have a back and forth and when that does not happen, well, RP falls apart. Naturally, I would be surprised if anyone behaving in such a manner is even following the Organic RP ruleset to begin with. Someone coming into an Organic RP subsection and posting about conquering someone's nation (without actually RPing out a conflict with that individual) will be just as much in the wrong as someone doing that very same thing in the main NatRP section. The ruleset just doesn't allow for it.
  8. Most of this either misses the point of the proposition entirely or suggests a continuation of the status quo. Removing rules completely is not what was suggested here - what was suggested was fine-tuning RP to more accurately reflect the way nations would react IC. If I may be so bold, to use the Tonina as an example, their actions were completely consistent with their IC culture - even up to the point where they responded with considerable force to the Britannians. With the current setup, it becomes exceedingly difficult to accurately RP with them and to maintain IC consistency. Even currently the Toninan RPer is still working out ways around the fact that IC, all that has happened would have led to a war (and they indeed are poised to begin such a war), but OOC restrictions are preventing it, effectively freezing his RP in stasis. The rest is rather implied. For me personally, if anyone has looked at my weebly (linked in my signature under "factbook") it is pretty clear the numbers and techbase that the nation uses. I wouldn't really agree to predetermined numbers for set battles and engagements anymore than the Toninan RPer wishes for OOC to dictate IC policy. I've already fleshed out the weapon systems and fleet counts and ground rosters for the VRZ (navy) and ZJR (army), and they would, logically with IC considerations taken into account, be deployed where they need to be. Some of this is addressed above. However, as has been stated before IC RPside nation ≠Gameside nation. I could likely go on at great lengths about wars in which there was no prior planning and battles took their natural course; the Battle of New Skardu between Nalydya and Serdaristan saw some ten thousand Pordish warships face off against a similarly sized foe - they ended up victorious courtesy the large size of the battlewagons and rather ingenious useage of FTLi and rift cruisers. On another occasion twenty thousand HSF warships (the predecessor to the current navy, the VRZ) were destroyed in the orbitals of Earth before an allied force arrived to push out the opposition. A different engagement saw the Jewel of the Pacific (floating city) destroyed by elements of a faction called the JSOC, killing millions of Pords aboard; The First Battle of Tale (largely fought in response to the Jewel's loss) pitted High Hunter Cholkük and some ten thousand superkapital ships against a force nearly forty their number and they pulled out ahead. None of this was scripted or agreed upon beforehand - it was all organic and decided right then and there based on IC considerations. But of course you are very likely correct - it may well be beyond the capability of many here. I know I've spent weeks at a time researching various topics for technologies and discussing tactics and strategies at length over voice chat and Facebook; for how extensive the current weebly is, it is no where near full nor holds all of the smaller details about things - and, amusingly enough, isn't the only one. I tend to remake my weebly every few years to give them a fresh look and to ease the transition of new information. This current one has been around since mid-2012. As has been stated above, we are not here to impose a new set of rules on the entire forums. What we are suggesting is the addition of a new subforums for people who desire to engage in this sort of roleplay and for those people who might like to experiment with it. These changes are perhaps drastic (at least compared to the current state of affairs) however with the addition of such a subforums it would be much easier to ease people into it. I will have to disagree with Meonesia on this point - there are plenty of people who would use such a subforums; there are perhaps a dozen right now as we speak, and this number will only grow in the future.
  9. Off topic. Not helping. This is not what was suggested in the OP. The point of this thread is to discuss the possible implementation of a new RP subforums with its own set of guidelines. No one is advocating for the complete changing of the forum rules.
  10. Which I suppose is the disconnect... Because we're RPers. We don't really care about gameside. We already have an established canon, so whatever happens in RP is rule of law.
  11. This, actually, is the sort of thing I'm talking about. You can take up the details of the tech with Sacred Lights and all that, but me personally - I don't care what it is or how it operates. It is not invincible, and I expect RP to be able to reflect this. To add on to this, if your shield(s) really are powerful then you should take the time in RP to describe just why what it is they're defending is failing against them - because as far as I'm concerned, with the locked RP, I was imaging this massive 90 kilometer wide energy draining beam, which was launched from a multi-hundred kilometer long warship (equipped with requisite power source), crashing into the Damocles and doing... Absolutely nothing for apparently no reason at all. Please imagine what this looks like from our perspective (and yes, this is after familiarizing ourselves with the Damocle's capabilities.) Of course, we are not trying to jam anything down your throats - this is the reason for the suggestion of a subforums. It would be nice for us to be able to have a place where we can stage demonstrations and have others potentially join us if they are interested in joining this sort of RP. We do tend to take these things seriously (it is national RP, after all - something which implies the existence of stakes), so no hard feelings on our end.
  12. I agree with this (our RP style isn't exactly NS - it's a blend of styles picked up from multiple different RP forums. We just only happen to be on NS now because the other apps have died.) This of course is where the OOC threads would come into play. If we take Sacred Light's thread, for example, all of the arguments would have taken place there, and perhaps the reasoning behind the shielding systems on the Damocles could have been explained, as well as the level of firepower being directed towards it. I would tend to agree with Sacred Lights on this one - one year (even two or three years) is (are) not the largest amount of time. We actually understand that this RP forums is in its infancy - that actually was the very first thing that we noticed upon arriving here, and perhaps part of the reason why this thread was drafted. I honestly do no understand why people keep claiming the rules have been in place for "a long time," when even a cursory review of the forums would indicate that this is not the case. But I digress - perhaps our senses of time do not fully mesh. Alternatively, I could make similar claims - speaking for me only, I not only read the rules, but I spent quite some time reading through numerous RPs (you can call me an RP archaeologist of sorts... I even maintain logs of RPs from previous apps that no longer are around) on this forums. You wonder how this was drafted so quickly? It was from reading the roleplays here and seeing what generally happens on these boards. Beyond this though, as far as interuniversal nations are concerned, the only issues I have seen with tech have stemmed from those native to PW. Lelouch isn't the only example I've come across - people claiming invincible tech from anime and unstoppable weaponry from movies or media seems to be par the course here. Hell - that's basically what happened in Sacred Light's thread; all else aside, from our point of view it was simply a case of one party ignoring casualties and refusing to take losses (if you wish to get into the details of this, please PM me. I do not want to clutter this thread with debate about that RP).

Good Evening, It has been brought to my attention that currently the National Affairs RP section, while equipped with a robust set of rules, does not have what it needs to fully allow players to RP out national interaction(s) on more realistic and organic levels. Pursuant to the establishment of an RP section where it is possible to do this, I propose that an Organic Roleplay subsection be added to the National Affairs forums. This subforums should largely be self-moderated, but players will be encouraged to follow some general guidelines: Respectable behavior OOC: No deliberate OOC attacks, or excess OOC bickering. This does not include arguments, but does include direct insults or things of that nature. Respectable behavior IC: Consistency is key within RP. This means that fleets cannot be marshaled overnight, new technologies do not appear out of thin air, and perhaps above all IC precedents should be set for the majority of claims. RP examples, usually post exchanges that are longer than a single post are expected here. Players are encouraged to be able to name and flesh out all of their claims: individuals with star systems should be able to name them and note their characteristics. Claims of relevance should be adequately detailed. For obvious reason, players are not expected to adhere to in-game stats but rather to flesh out their national concepts and expand beyond gameside restrictions. No Metagaming: IC responses require IC knowledge of events. If an individual writes about a discussion between two characters, this conversation should not be addressed by other people in their own posts unless there is an IC reason for them to do so. This also extends to national interactions: just because nation X is doing action Y, it does not mean that nation Z is necessarily privy to that information. No GMing: Godmodding is defined as any action that is done that goes beyond reasonable exception or breaches RP etiquette. Shields are not invincible and armies are not unstoppable. Reasonable IC progression of events: RPers are encouraged to (as this is the point of the subforums) engage in realistic and organic national roleplay. Should nation X do action Y, nation Z is encouraged and expected to react as realistically as possible for that nation. This should not necessarily require OOC conversation, but as with all RP, OOC discussion can help greatly to clear matters of contention. OOC Threads: OOC threads should be created to house OOC discussion of RPs and debate. This is to prevent IC threads from becoming bogged down with excess OOC discussion. Most RPs are encouraged to have an accompanying OOC thread. Posting Quality: RPers are expected to maintain appropriate levels of post length and quality. This means that post should, at a minimum, be at least on paragraph (for direct, character-to-character interaction), up to many paragraphs for more in-depth happenings. For characters, usage of second or third person is encourage, but not necessarily required. Example of a quality post (taken from RP Wolves Against the Bear): These are just preliminary suggestions that have been drafted for the establishment of a new RP subforums. Any extra input, suggestions, or comments will be greatly appreciated.

It is up to you to decide how it affects your equipment.
  15. OOC: Honestly, this entire situation looks ridiculous. Let me lay this out - 1) Tonina arrived. Refugees were forced out. 2) Lelouch was unhappy about the treatment of refugees. He then spent days in Toninan territory rounding them up. Territory protected by the Toninan Army. He then proceeded to claim next to zero casualties after this. 3) With Britannia having trespassed onto Toninan territory they in turn responded with an artillery barrage and moved Toninan men (which were already in the area) up to the northern border. Again, next to no casualties were claimed by Britannia. 4) Britannian ship arrives. 5) Toninans fire on Britannian ship. Lelouch claims this ship is invincible. There are a lot of things wrong here. For starters - invincible warships and not claiming casualties is generally considered very poor etiquette. I don't care what anime your equipment is from. It is not invincible.
  16. North Sea Faroe Islands; Shetland Islands The looming bulk of transports cast vast shadows over the stormy North Atlantic. The tumultuous waters churn beneath their hulls as they float off the coast of the islands; the gray paintschemes of the vehicles nearly camouflage them from preying eyes. Suddenly, vast hangar bay doors open slam open and the cold northern winds rush inside of the vessels. moments later, Cholanrüchen and Chlümüchgrazhni gunships pour forth from pregnant transports' interiours and spread out over the islands. With them they carry elements of the 8th Zhyso'an Brigade-Chünezhnar and 13th Nalydian Brigade-Chrühov, two component units of the 2nd Division-Chünezhnarchonzherte Guards Kenzhelengrazhni. The blue and gray clad infantrymen are quick to establish order among the local populace; vast amounts of supplies and heavy equipment follow the Pords, and then actual settlers as well. Their objective is simple: expand Nalydian influence to these new cold realms. As natives of territory Nalydya is intent on fully incorporating into her greater extent, those currently residing within the Faroe or Shetland islands are given two choices: if they do not wish to remain, they are free to leave and will be given one week to gather belongings and resettle elsewhere. Any material loss will be compensated for by the ZJR. Should they choose to stay, they will be given genetic reconstruction, free of charge, which will turn them effectively Pordish. In addition to this, schools and other places of learning are to be established. Residents remaining are fully expected to learn Nalydian and completely immerse themselves within Pordish culture. Courses will be available for them to familiarize themselves with Nalydian culture. to help ease this transition. These changes are expected to be fully implemented by day two of the expansion, and by the third week, normal operations should resume. High Hunter Nykat releases an official statement regarding the current course of events: Colony Natynozh and the Greater Nalydian Empire are eager to welcome these new territories to within her fold. Those willing to fully integrate into Nalydian culture are free to stay and they will be assisted in making the transition. Those who do not wish to remain are free to resettle elsewhere outside of our borders and will be compensated commensurate to their loss.

Upon hearing that Communist armies have surged across the borders of Sweden and into that northern land, a single Tylaq Balnook type runner is detached from nam-Kalzhak's Division to observe. It descends into the fabrics of reality, effectively cloaked, and makes its way over to the battlespace; its primary mission is to observe, and unless extraneous circumstances present themselves, it reports back only to nam-Kalzhak directly. Elsewhere, no official statement is drafted concerning the escalation of hostilities, however a single Kenzhelengrazhni type transport, in addition to the hospital ship VRZ Tainted Banks pull away from their moorings at a northern port within Nalydian borders. They extend out into the sea and then submerge beneath its watery surface on a roughly north-eastern course.

  20. High Hunter Nykat takes notice of the Soviet. The gift is accepted and he returns the greeting. But almost as soon as that occurs, the Soviet is quick to abscond for the summit. A quick glance around the room reveals many in the chamber are not too terribly happy with his presence; the High Hunter catches more than a few telling piercing glares. It was perhaps unavoidable. This is, after all, Pordlandia's first major foray into the politics of this new world. Regardless, the tension is palpable. A number of Adgu stand off to the side, arms hidden within robes and faces obscured by convenient shadows. As with Governess Ariel, Nykat first opens dialogue with Maria of Bordeaux: It is of course our desire to open diplomatic talks with France, he notes. As member of the High Hunter Council, I represent not just Colony Natynozh, but I also speak on behalf of the Greater Nalydian Empire. Where in particular did you wish to begin?

OOC: In case you were actually interested in a sort of example, I made logs of an engagement that occurred a few years ago on an app that is now defunct (I actually mention that realm in my RP as FB-1): http://i.imgur.com/mS1Exx1.jpg This is the sort of battle Sacred Lights is referring to. It's a rather involved back and forth between multiple players with rather in-depth consideration about the course of events. There isn't a lot on this forums that I've seen that comes close to this.
  22. OOC: I would like to clear a few things up - Cenna, yes we understand that you have early warning systems, etc, and an ability to detect things that occur. That is fine. The metagaming angle, however, is when your IC actions and comments are about things you would not know IC. Your radars will not inform you of a private conversation in orbit. Sacred Lights does not need to clarify that such things should not be commented on because logically it makes no sense to.
  23. Nalydian Relations The Pordish reaction to the arrival of the Tonina is perhaps typical; an official statement is drafted and released to the general public welcoming the Tonina to Orbis. Not much more is said on the matter, save for that Nalydian borders will not be open for refugee resettlement, and that while Tonina are friends of Grazhni Pordlandia, she will not participate in dealing with the humanitarian now developing on the North American continent. Of particular note, however, is the rise in tensions. Secretly, the ZJR commanders in command of a number of formations that have been attached to nam-Kalzhak's Division have been notified of the developments. They are told to adopt a higher level of readiness should conflict erupt, but nothing beyond notifying them of the situation and telling them to be prepared is conducted.

Honestly, I feel like it really depends on the type of map and the amount of effort the map maker wants to get into - thinking on it now, I actually imagine that we could do a galactic map and claims that are rather small (like a few star systems, or I suppose anything not large enough to really be noticed on the galactic scale) could simply have "zoom" boxes on them, similar to minimaps, I suppose, superimposed on top of the primary galaxy map.

If all of the nations here exist within the same canon timeline, I don't feel as if there's much of a reason to separate Orbis RP from RP elsewhere. @Octavius - I'm not so sure it'll be possible for you to achieve the sort of authentic feel you're going for with a WWII themed nation the way things currently are - from what I understand, the nations on Orbis range from Modern Tech (MT) to Fantasy/Magic. That isn't to say that your chosen feel/tech level can't fit in (I'd argue that if you really wanted to become immersed in the world then it actually can be an interesting touch), but perhaps might require a bit more of an open mind. *edit* I do support the idea of a space map though. It would be nice to note people's claims and where they are in relation to Orbis. I will note, however, that space is very, very large. If people are claiming anything less than tens of thousands of star systems then it is very likely the claims won't even show up on a galaxy-scale map.
