This is a discussion post, and has been moved to the Moderation Support subforum accordingly.

As for compensation for defaulted loans, Seb and many others reached out to me asking about that. I made the decision to interfere in this case and re-issue half of the verifiable transactions because NPO & company defaulting on their loans is effectively my fault.

Normally, I would not interfere in these cases (and do not intend to in the future.) However, the players that invest in and operate these "banks" add a lot to the community, and I don't want to see them fail because of a moderation action I took.

This whole ordeal is a unique and atypical circumstance. I will not bail out future loan defaults.

Anyone who had an official loan with NPO, BK, or GotG can reach out to me with specific details of transactions, including loan amounts, dates, payments made, and if I can verify it through in-game records I will refund half of the unpaid amounts. I am not considering any interest owed, only the principals of the loans less payments made.

If, after this discussion, you decide to maintain your current stance on this situation, could you make an ingame announcement?
I believe most bankers have at least some forum presence/or would learn about it, but for fairness it should be something notified ingame as being the current policy.

    @Alex

There are two "fair" solutions to this one. You give everyone a bailout who got shafted by NPO/etc. or you give it to nobody.

Everything else but these two is bias and favoritism. I have no idea who Seb is investing to next or who not. I have no idea who is profiting most from this bailout. But if you don't like being called out for bias, then don't do things that clearly are biased. The amount of money involved here is no justification as to why one bank should be favored.

I know other groups were reaching out to Alex at least, i however do not know his reply.

Taking a warn for the (german) team by posting here.

He surely deserves a strike for some things on his bio.

But we shouldn't go to the point of banning/striking for the use of "Adolf" without any connection to the famous german leader. The name is historically charged, yes, but it is just a name and thus there are others bearing that name, for example and most prominently, King Gustav II. Adolf of Sweden.

I know, but the name in connection with his nation bio is a little more suspect.

Apologies, but under article 4 of our sponsorship contract we will need to roll you for defamation of the Coca-Cola Company.

He couldn't. His rules stated the punishment. We had the precedent of Nova Riata, but that one pales in comparison.

The damage that NPO has caused by doing this is immeasurable. How many people have quit the game because one side had such an immense advantage and a sheer ton of resources to their disposal? No apology will be enough, no measure will heal the damage.

If he would have done it like then with riata, he would have deleted 50bil of worth more resources, all cities that were funded by GPWC money and he would have permabanned a lot of people that are now getting 6 months only. I assume he didn't do that because NPO already established itself with all the resources they got, and removing everything would strip away any chance of moving on. Like this, you still have it.

Our response now is that we don't push for terms, we don't want to permawar you until you delete. Instead we offer a blanket white peace and a NAP. No kicking while you are down.

We can not look back, but only move forward. So let's do it together

You could also consider  the Terradoxia situation as relevant precedent.

You are trash, you were banned.  You chose to sledge me on the way out, not comprehending that I simply didn't talk in front of idiots like you.

haha ohh its mostly been defensive on our parts i would say.  If you all stop hitting us we'll probably switch to hitting you.  I know on my part lately it has just been lobbing a TON of nukes in defensive wars.   But kudos to you all, I think youve mostly been keeping our active guys occupied.  like I said, i'm under no pretense that our actions are going to change the course of this conflict at all.

And honestly no need to celebrate us I agree.  As someone noted, I dont post a ton here, but i got like four or five discords since i woke up this morning so it seemed fitting to clarify our position.   Hence this announcement.

IMO think of this as a clarification and an explanation.  Not something you need to approve or disapprove. It simply is.  We'll do our thing and you all will do yours.  Speaking personally, I tend to respect anyone that's doing what they genuinely think is right even if I disagree with that decision.  Hence why ive no hard feelings for the other side even when I do disagree.

Hah.  Fair enough. Im at work now but we can chat later tonight maybe (though might be a bit late cause i'm also celebrating my birthday and feeling like an old man).

I can certainly sympathize with people who feel this war went on FOREVER.  Whatever the reasons, I can't pretend ive not found it boring as heck.   And if nothing else, Ive wanted arrgh out for ages (something is wrong when we don't have a free-raiding pirate alliance). I  dont have much sway on the higher end of things, but yes I'd have preferred it ended ages ago and haven't made much secret of that.

But yeah.  That also isn't the most important factor to me.  And again no offense if you disagree... as I said I dont think others need to adhere to *our* honor code. But to us, its precisely *because* of how this war has gone that we can't peace out.  Perhaps part of it is our disagreement over Admins actions.  But, as you said, put that aside.  More then that,  In my book its precisely when wars are boring, long, dragged out, or hopeless that you DONT peace out.  Anyone can be loyal in the good times or quick and easy wars.  Its the tough ones that show the mettle.

We could come up with a bunch of excuses to leave, and the community here would be fine with it. And NPO are good enough friends im sure they would understand and have no hard feelings.  But... we would still have left our allies in a moment of crisis.  And then have to look at ourselves in the mirror.  And i'm not comfortable with what I would see in said mirror.

Until I can feel satisfied that we've done everything in our power to help our friends... we just can't leave.  Even if all we can do is absorb some blows and lob some missiles.

    Happy birthday
