  1. Glad to see his airport time is productive.
  2. I applaud the freedom you have with your schedule. I'm sure you earned it.
  3. Are you aware that I've been in the game all of 3 months? I can't imagine the logistics that go into getting that many people to respond at once. The sheer improbability of the schedules lining up is mind-boggling, especially for a volunteer effort.
  4. This, and I hope that it is a learning experience for both spectators and contenders. There are many topics that can be debated without resorting to the sort of buffoonery that you typically see on these forums. Any of the more sensitive topics are already banned in the forum rules.
  5. I bet it's Adama. Everyone seems to like him. Also, I seem to have missed a memo, since I'm the only one with any boats. Hope everyone has the resources they need, because they aren't getting any more. It's going to be a long ten days. I'm just sad that I'm not learning from the best in this war. My n00bery won't be eradicated by the guys I'm fighting, but we'll do what we can for each other. The speed of those retaliatory DoW's is suspicious to me, but I'm getting the impression of things happening on IRC that will never come out on the forums. In the end, GPA will win, since they're the ones making a profit. Anyone else is either enjoying themselves or just engaging in crass puffery with no substance.
  6. Ah, friendship. The two ships that sail together might still tack against the same winds, though they may not be lashed together at the flanks. For friendship, ah friendship, that is a selfless endeavor, indeed. Done without the recompense of commerce. Done without the braggadocio of the drunkard, or the precise leveling of the scales from law. Just done for the good tidings of a fellow traveler on the path. For all alliances might add to the beauty of Orbis, and none should be driven from us. Even Mensa, in her time, plays many parts. She'd do well to discipline her current role.
  7. I think the current propaganda is that Vanguard was merely a raid. Oh, but still Rose is terrible because reasons unsubstantiated. Honestly, a lot of the conduct has been pretty terrible, but it'll be fun, anyway.
  8. Eh, I don't really feel that bad. Maybe somewhere around a 2 on the comparative pain scale.
  9. I'm not a fan of Haddad, but unless he specifically broke international agreements that he signed or committed crimes against humanity, I cannot condone a trial of a political leader for wartime actions. The GSE will be left alone to conduct the trial as thanks for their support during the Witch Incident.
  10. Ah, the old dependents debate. Kids are generally cheaper on upkeep than the elderly (when you take medical bills into account), but the elderly are more capable of contributing to their family unit for the most part. Everyone seems to be really stuck on polygamy, without considering polyandry or even line marriages. There's a few scenarios where a group marriage would be more capable of caring for children than a monogamous marriage. 1. Two males, one female. The males would all be able to contribute more for the female's children than a single male. 2. Stay-at-home spouse and two working spouses. It's much easier for two partners (male or female) to support the stay-at-home partner than a monogamous stay-at-home spouse and their working partner. 3. In the event of a partner experiencing a disability or medical emergency, it's much easier to cover the expense or loss of income if you have more than one partner. 4. In the case of a line marriage, a young couple with fewer resources could join up with an older one that had more resources. 5. Housing and cooking expenses are likely to go down, especially if you are sharing them across multiple people. Anyone with roommates would appreciate this. 6. Females that don't want to have children could still experience caring (and paying) for children without the drastic sacrifices to career, health, and lifestyle that their own children would require. A career woman could easily join up with a maternal woman to assist with costs and chores. Contrast this with the current career woman and single mom scenario where this isn't a possibility for either one. Kinda sucks that a childless woman is forced to have her own children if she wants a family, while the single mom is closed off from a potential avenue of support.
  11. By the time I'm done, everyone will want to hang Isolatar from the highest yard-arm!
  12. Sometimes you just can't play the game, war or not. That's what vacation mode is for. Avruch has a good reason above for the compromise a nation makes for going into peace mode. So punish him!
  13. Believe it or not, there's a subforum for that: https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/forum/37-forum-reports/ I accept whatever guidance the mods choose to give me. My ego will not shatter because they want me to tone it down, and I will carry the lesson forward into other posts. The most amusing part is that you've worded this post so that you can remain a victim no matter how the mods act. Bravo for the sympathy gymnastics! The Russian judge will only give you a 7, though.
  14. You recently lost a war. I would also recommend asking someone at BK for a city audit. Your infra numbers are disturbing. I'm sure there's a limit to the ayyylmao that they teach.
  15. >Be Heirophant >Refuse to revise criticism to something that Sheepy can actually use. >Pick most irrelevant comment in a post to focus on. If you can't post some actual evidence for comment, maybe you could climb off of your cross and get back to having fun. Everyone wants to revolutionize the proletariat. Nobody wants to just play the damn game. Sheepy has commented multiple times in this thread. Some address comments like yours. If your complaints are unique, please give us an example of its uniqueness. Sheepy and the mod team are limited in their responses because they want to welcome as many people to the community as possible, including people that need the rules enforced for optimum forum use. I have no such limitation because my nation link is to the left.
  16. Alright, the first part doesn't clear you on the latter. Not all Jews have everything they could need. Not all are even successful (despite racism to the contrary). The stereotype comes from a time when they charged interest, since Christians and Muslims historically were forbidden to do so by religious practice.
  17. Sorry, Oblige. These enchanted beings have no concern about your ancestral lands or migratory routes. As always, it is the gentlest of creatures that suffer.
  18. Mighty Merica sends specially-blended protein powder to their allies so that these ladies can get swole.
  19. An unfortunate meeting between the mortal and the magical. If Orbis is to thrive, both sides must put aside their heavy-handed methods and seek a genuine dialogue.
  20. OOC: After the war ends, the Fey race are released from their camps, but the damage has been done. They can no longer trust the government of Mighty Merica to look after their interests. Many leave to more friendly nations. Those that remain resettle into tight-nit communities around the more laissez-faire Mad Gear cities. Their healthy distrust of the government begins a criminal culture centered on smuggling of people and mind-altering goods. I, in agreement with the Metro City Council, mourn the massive loss of life and applaud the end of hostilities. All deals with the GSE are converted into aid deals, and all debt is forgiven.
  21. The best criticism is 1. actionable and 2. specific. If you really want the community to improve, get off the ego-driven martyr train and help them learn. How do you do this? Post the objectionable warn (with specific text from the warn) to the Mod support subforum for discussion. This gives the other mods and the community a single case to rule on and gives the mod team the justification to act, if needed. Random and vague accusations help no one. These forums MUST have mods, but mods can learn just like everyone else. To their credit, Sheepy and the other mods appear to act based on threads in the Mod Discussion forum. To his credit, Kastor exhibited the best example of how you should deal with any problem mod behavior. Even Captain Vietnam, of all posters, has shown that he understands how to use the Moderation Support subforum. Take off the Hot Topic shirt and put away the emo poetry. No one here wants to oppress you. If they violate your boundaries, then you need to tell them how and let the community decide if those boundaries are justified. Example: https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10774-letter-to-the-moderation-team/
  22. I expect the rest of you ad buyers to up your game or you can expect me not to remember them. Admittedly, the funny Trump/BK rivalry was the only reason I even looked at any of the other ads.
  23. Never done this before, but what the hell. You learn more on the field than in the bleachers. What's the time limitation on replies? If I'm going to even approach doing something this formal, I'll need time for research and revision. Put me down as an alternate so you can bump me if someone more experienced shows up. I'll argue for just about anything just to argue, so long as my opening post can have my real opinion in a spoiler (so judges can read it after the debate).
  24. The issue is that many nations ban polygamy, and I think that all have a complete ban on polyandry. I'm on the side of no government in marriage period, other than to restrict it to legal adults. It should go back to religious authorities, who can regulate their records as they wish. Anyone who wants a civil union should have a contract drafted that is open about the obligations, rather than a simple certificate that every family judge interprets differently.
  25. Partners should discuss the nature of their relationship far before marriage. This is so well known that it's known as "The Talk" in popular culture. It's at this point that polys mention their need for multiple partners, and I've dated two poly girls that were open about their unwillingness to be exclusive. We didn't work out because I desire a monogamous committed relationship (I've got little time or desire for loose relationships or to deal with the potential drama from them), but neither lied to me, and I would trust either one with my life. Cheating is about trust and power dynamics, not sex. If both partners agree to be exclusive, that's a verbal contract. Breaking that contract is the issue, not the sex itself. It's funny, because usually cheaters get upset when the tables are turned. However, it always seems to be disgusting lust when it's someone else and beautiful love when it's you. Please see some of the comments in this thread. I also worked a short time for a poly woman who had multiple grown children with successful lives. She was also extremely intelligent and trustworthy. I suspect the latter had more influence over the former than her sex habits. Edit: Needed to clarify the above before the knives came out. My rules for relationships are that they must be committed and that I must trust everyone involved. This means that I must meet the partners of my partner at a minimum. Neither of the girls wanted to commit to this, and I'm happy that they told the truth, even if it meant we had to fall back to friendship.
