Why the Paperless Bloc Failed
Jessica Rabbit commented on Caecus's blog entry in Reflections of a crazed, tin-foil-hat-wearing mad man
This is a very well thought out and well written analysis. It's limited in scope as others pointed out, but it's accurate within that scope. Nice job. =) I agree with the evaluation of outcomes 1 vs 2. When I look at Arrgh, TEst and Roz Wei I see 3 groups of very good players who came together in to rally around a concept, and that concept defines who they are and why they play, which is different from why other people play. I believe this is where our disconnect comes from - Paperless looks at Syndisphere and says "you're all cowards who are afraid to lose" while we look back at them and say "It's called 'winning' you're just doing it wrong." But cowardice is not what drives Syndisphere to win, and Paperless is not doing it wrong. When I read people's comments in this context, suddenly both sides make perfect sense. Personally, I respect, admire and enjoy the way Paperless plays. And I agree they're absolutely right when they say it's not their responsibility to fix this game. They shouldn't have to change their definition of winning just to make us lose by our definition of losing. Honestly, the burden is on us, the non-paperless. We need to figure out how to redefine winning without intentionally losing. -
Let us have our fun, Kylo.

Well fought, Arrgh! o/

Review our convo log from Friday where I posted them, and we talked about them.
-
For those who don't know, asking Roz to gay marry me and Sabriel was an inside joke meant only to tease him about a conversation in which Sabriel and I were flirting for fun while Roz was getting angry at us about something else. It wasn't intended as a serious term for public consumption. EDIT: I thought he would know that. I'm honestly sorry if I offended you, Roz. I did not mean to.
-
Pre, when we spoke on Friday I explained to you that those two terms were only a joke, removed them, and gave you the real terms which did not include them. I'm assuming this thread was made because Roz was shown the old terms but did not receive the updated ones?
-
Those are the old peace terms, and two of them were jokes. We revised them on Friday. Roz, come talk to us, and we'll get you up to speed.

It is currently impossible to beige an active player

As an alternative, maybe make Fortify increase casualties but not add resistance? -
It is currently impossible to beige an active player
Jessica Rabbit replied to Etgfrog's topic in Tech Support
To clarify: this is not a way to prevent only-fortify strategies because if I'm ahead on resistance when I start to lose a war, this would allow me to switch to Fortify and beige my opponent using only resistance. -

Then an aggressor who gets a couple pyrric victories could get beiged by fortify? -
12/24/2016 - Uncounterable Espionage
Jessica Rabbit replied to Alex's topic in Announcements & Updates
This just seems like smart game play to me. One side gave up the element of surprise and first-strike advantage in exchange for a spy advantage. They used the mechanics they were given and spent a significant amount of time, effort and money organizing a spy war - a war in which all players have same options available to them. I know getting blitzed sucks, whether it be with spies or jets, but players need to be able to use the politics part of the game to get allies to counter for them, just like in any other war. These spy attacks can be countered by other alliances. -
I think this makes sense. It's in the spirit of the mechanic to protect the beige nation. Still allowing gather intelligence would be ideal.
