This is an idea around the idea of having more subunits under the military. Like instead of just having armored vehicles you have ifv that is good against infantry, and tank which is good against both, and and tank destroyers or spg that specialize in destroying armor. Another example is haveing bombers that are specifically destroying infa and fighters to protect those bombers from defending fighters.
