Rereading this thread- Many say we need to tighten up the gun laws; others say we need to tighten up registration laws; the fact is we have and those do nothing except make more hoops to jump through for regular, normal, mentally healthy individuals who simply would like to plink a aluminum cans and occasionally eat some fine Wisconsin venison. it is also a bit creepy that uting a large amount of faith into a system that normally takes away liberties also has a list of those law-abiding citizens who own guns.The only benefit for this list is when a gun disappers in a robbery and shows up later, either being sold or sadly used in a robbery. Most, I stress most! guns used by criminals here in the US are not sold over the counter. Many come in through, oddly, Canada whose restrictions have created a fantastic Black Market with limited surveillance coming in through ports. Others of course come in through Mexico on a border pocketed by drug cartels. The largest bulk of criminal acquirement of guns is here in the US itself, back alley purchases, crooked cops(actually is surprisingly high) from their police storehouses, ex-military surplus from the back of a truck, I could go on. Where there is a need, there is a market to fill it.

And what is this about the "Nazi Eagle"? Rome used banners which also bore an Eagle. Byzantine soldiers also carried Eagle banners. Charlemagne also carried banners topped by an Eagle. The Italians did the same thing. The Turks did too. The Germans did as well in the 1st War. Just because the Nazis did as well does not make an Eagle emblem above a banner a "Nazi" thing. Technically the rate for violent crimes globally, the most violent nations are found in Africa and South America. The US has the highest crime rate, but the rates are more along the lines of drug use/possession/misdemeanors, which is starting to go down due to progressive policies opening up towards allowing possession of narcotics.
