  2. "Mass downvoting" especially now that it actually doesn't take away from your karma, is just an additional way of showing displeasure with an idea (or in the case of @Firwof Kromwell, how much of a salty B you are years after everyone has forgotten why you're upset.) beyond the root vote. You really shouldn't be taking it personal.
  3. I do find it cute how you intentionally split the dissenting votes into 3 to give the approving vote a better chance to win by pure votes. That said, in pretty much no time of PnW history have the whales "dominated the meta", the whales in PnW are far too reactionary to dominate their own tier, nevermind the meta, that's why you usually find whale alliances like GG and T$ linked to alliances like Rose and TKR, who do the brunt of actually deciding who's fighting who. Though we find ourselves in a unique situation right now where the whale AAs, save eclipse, have split off from having a low tier counterpart. Answering your root question though. Down declares are the only thing a nation can do when they're under occupation, so they're working perfectly fine as they are now, if you're upset about being down declared though, you should talk to your alliance about getting their milcom in order instead of relying on bots. A winning force can certainly limit the damages substantially, and give that 15c down decced nation a win over someone 15 cities stronger than them, which also gives your low tiers the chance to coordinate with well-trained veterans who've fought on both sides of an occupation to see how they coordinate and fight.
  4. Well, I guess it's time for firwof to crawl out of his sobbing corner this year to downvote without reading. I've argued with Alex in the past that the information should just be made public. There's many reasons this benefits everyone involved, though everyone will weigh them differently. So I'll lay them out in the order they come to mind instead of trying to organize them meaningfully. 1.) Balances the field for smaller alliances. Sure many people consider this a con, and I'm among them, but it's still a benefit for many alliances who do not have their own tech departments and therefore rely on sketchily coded bots that accidentally steal your entire bank, or restrict your access to them on a whim of the owner and their cronies. 2.) It makes already public information public in a controlled manor. Alex can do whatever he wishes to try and hide the spy formula, all it really takes is 1 person not selfishly using the code for themselves to just set up a public sheet for everyone in the game to see everyone elses spies, even if Alex implemented the 1k$ cost, I honestly just see this becoming the method of moving forward. All the major AAs just pool their funds into a central sheet, because funding a self-detrimental sheet is still better than having no information at all in wartime. 3.) Spies. Are. Worthless. (Sorry Rose, I know this is a personal attack). The vast majority of alliances, including top 10s can not coordinate the level of sophisticated strikes required to take advantage of a victorious spy war to turn a losing war into a stalemate. It took the collective efforts of more than half the game to accomplish this in any meaningful way. 4.) Just. Make. Spies. Public., God. > Can. You. Use. More. Periods. Please. - inb4 krampus
  5. Oh my god. @Menhera just made me aware of this post. I'm actually sobbing, redarmy was an amazing comrade and I'm so sorry to hera this. Stright up I loved this guy from the day I met himand we both found out eachother was looslely connected to NPO, and if you hold that against him, Huck you, RA was absolutely amazing as a guy and he'll be missed in this community.
  6. All this treaty shows is that Ro$eyWood has an open door policy. Now we need to sign Celestial and Clock, we can create the anti-alex hegemony.
  7. Okay I'll address the root suggestion in a moment, but first. Really? The biggest criticism you nitwits could come up with is that his allies are the ones doing it? What would have been your criticism if he was from t$ or TFP? Entirely irrelevant to the suggestion, and each of you needs a mod to come in and educate you on derailing. As for the root suggestion, yeah I gotta agree with belgium on this, creating a limit on number of trades would be counter intuitive to rewarding activity. Especially during peace time, the only point to logging in is grabbing grants, selling / buying resources, and seeing what the latest drama in the world is, or participating if you're in gov. If you have other ideas for how to fix the issue, by all means, the sensible people are probably willing to discuss them with you.
  8. If you wouldn't mind a few add-on notes from someone who had to found a micro from the ground and build it into an alliance that people still can't let the name of die. Culture - A lot of micros can set up, choose a random theme, and set up the base standard econ / IA models that everyone uses. But it makes you completely useless in the grand scheme and gives no one a real reason to join or stick around. People will join, yes, but more by governmental blood and tears than natural growth. But what actually is culture? Isn't it just your theme? No, absolutely not. Your culture is the trajectory of your alliance, and you should have an econ plan/recruitment plan/foreign policy plan that all feed into the same singular goal. Give yourself that and you'll attract people who share those values, leading to natural growth. Here are some examples, and I would encourage any alliance I'm reviewing here to correct mistakes in my perception, I will correct this post as notified; Grumpy Old Bastards is a high-tier tax free alliance that aligns itself to protect and recruit in the high tier range. (Last I checked) They charge you an intro fee to ensure you're large enough to take care of yourself, then you never pay another dime to the alliance, and they align themselves to Guardian who has always been an alliance able to guard their lower flank in wars. The Knights Radiant is a moderately taxed/high growth, new nation alliance that focuses on giving small new nations a large voice in their community. Rose is a slightly high tax generalist recruitment alliance that focuses on community engagement through events and games, while maintaining a fairly intricate web of foreign relations aimed at keeping themselves secure. Arrgh is a no tax generalist alliance aimed at people who like to raid, because of that they entirely forgo the idea of formal relations and just maintain subtle 'no-raid' lists of people that will certainly counter if attacked. Chocolate Castle was a high tax, rapid growth alliance that focused more on having a community free of toxicity (often at the expense of relations within orbis), which as a result remained fairly excluded from orbis politics. Amendment to Tech - Having flashy bots will not trump having experience. Having run chocolate castle, we were(and our members remain) notorious for reinventing the wheel, as we had a solid tech core that could develop any tools we really wanted access to within a day. But we did not lean on this, and chose instead to maintain a core of extremely skilled players in various fields. In some aspects we definitely paid the price for this, often literally (see: CC bank robberies). But when it came to military or econ, we had allies, even larger than us, coming to us for advice on how to repair the mistakes their bots and scripts made. But; diving a bit into subjective opinion; it also created a culture of responsibility, where we didn't try to hide or deny the fact that we screwed up, and instead of just saying "Well improve the bots", we asked what we could do to improve so it didn't happen again. This is a good extension of what I'm saying about tech. Experience will always be better than having a bot that can do it for you, because if you rely on a bot, and don't have the experience to do it yourself without said bot. When suddenly borg doesn't like you anymore and deletes your entire discord 'on accident', or limits your access to his bot because it 'uses up api requests', you stop having any viability as a leader, and start losing members quick.
  9. Cleaning crews clearly need a raise
  10. Can you like. Declare war before I retire next time? Good luck.
  11. Not to spoil the meme. But Knightfall + VietQuack + Guns & Roses. Still not a lot I reckon, but it's weird that it's happened thrice.
  12. Oh my, why didn't you tell me you were posting a DoE, I woulda rushed here! Good luck you guys!
  13. What I get out of this thread and the various servers talking about it is. TKR exists Therefore Hegemony Any facts or reality to the matter be damned.
