  1. OOC: Will gender play a role in the Olympics?
  2. Being a small nation, with a excellent but small sports program, especially for the summer sports (we are a winter nation, you were right about that), Finland has decided to send athletes to the following sports. We will be participating in the team baseball, football, basketball and volleyball events. Our 5 individual athletes will be competiting in Swimming, Cycling, Track, Diving and Fencing. This decision was made by the following committees: Aquatics Finland (diving and swimming), Finnish Cycling Organization, Finnish Track Committee and the Fencing Association of Finland. Each organization held qualifying competitions and sent the best athlete from their organization. Nation name: Finland AMOUNT OF ATHLETES IN EACH SPORT Baseball: N/A, team sport Football: N/A, team sport Basketball: N/A, team sport Swimming: 1 Cycling: 1 Diving: 1 Beach volleyball (In integers of two): Volleyball: N/A, team sport Track: 1 Fencing: 1 Judo: n/a Taekwondo: n/a The Finnish Olympic Team
  3. We here in Finland offer our condolences to the emperor of Hungadada and wish for the best.
  4. Finland will respect Australia's opinions and looks to opening a prison somewhere else.
  5. The Finnish government considers opening a maximum-security detention centre in the place where Australia's Nauru camp once stood, and hope that the government of Nauru support us as we will pay them handsomely. Finland has been experiencing a surge of crime lately and has recently put 1 person under maximum-security detention - a new Finnish record, up from the previous total of zero. The detention centre will probably hold about 10 to 15 people as that is all we will need, but even if the prisoners escape there's not much they can do.
  6. Finland congratulates the coalition on their success, and hopes that coalition forces and Russian forces will not engage with each other as you are united towards a common cause.
  7. Probably. But hey, did you know that certain countries are too hot to run summer games? Scientists have proved that it is too dangerous to run a marathon if the temperature is over 27C degrees, and fainting can be reported at 25C meaning certain tropical countries will be too hot to hold the Olympic track events. XD Climate change can also affect this in the future, rendering many many cities unable to hold the Olympic games. Fortunately, Helsinki is safe from this (go Finland 2016!) http://www.citylab.com/weather/2016/08/its-getting-too-hot-for-the-olympics-climate-change-heat/495680/
  8. Goand is a tropical country, unlike some of the countries who've placed a bid You know what?
  9. I visited Afribusko- you know what, !@#$ it. Anyways, the country is quite nice. A little overpopulated and the traffic is ridiculous, it's much worse than in Finland - absolutely horrible, people everywhere, no concept of personal space and never ending wilderness like we have in our home country. Apart from that good place to visit. 9/10
  10. You have no wishes, no hopes, no dreams and consequently, no soul. I wish for a piece of candy.
  11. I found this while browsing this thread. Funny enough, if you type AN into Google Search and hit I'm Feeling Lucky, you get taken to the Animal Jam website. Sure. Giant military protecting me.
  12. Wanted to give this a try. I used to do RP things (hence 700 posts) but I am more of a blog-newspaper person. Is this a new project? And also I noticed that Finland is mostly taken, does that effectively void my application?
  13. Nation name: Finland Nation link: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=43562 Which city will be the host city: Helsinki Why we should host this thing: Finland is a nation in the Northern Hemisphere located within the Arctic circle in the North and on the Gulf of Finland in the south. We have a warm suitable climate for the competitors at the Olympics in the summer months and we are a developed small nation. Our cities are filled with attractions and cultural history that has been remarkably well-preserved. Finland is also an extremely safe nation in Orbis, with no major terrorist incidents to date yet, a strong military and a excellent Emergency Services department in each city. Helsinki in particular is the capital of Finland and is extremely safe as the Finnish Emergency Services demonstrated during the recent anarchic riots in Helsinki - they have the capability to keep situations contained and safe. Finland is also very neutral on the international stage, making it even safer of a location. We also have no missiles, etc and are a part of a large alliance - making us the safest god damn place you could choose, and safety is important with all the terrorist stuff going on. Helsinki has agreed to hold the games in joint with other cities as well - however one minor difficult is the fact that Finland has banned nuclear weapons testing within the country meaning that the Nuclear Kills Competition will have to be held somewhere else. May we suggest Northern Russia? The best thing is, Finland already has many of these athletic facilities in place! All that is needed are some upgrades to bring them to Olympic level, and the 2 million dollars provided by the committee will help plenty. However, don't underestimate us either! Despite being a winter sports country, Finland provides funding to its athletes and has capable athletes competing at the Olympics! Opening Ceremonies, Baseball, (semis/finals), Soccer (semis/finals), Basketball (semis/finals). Swimming, Diving, Cycling (finish), Beach Volleyball, Track - Helsinki Rowing, Basketball (semis/finals) - Vantaa Field Hockey, Baseball (qualifiers) - Espoo Cycling (start), Soccer (qualifiers) - Tampere One of the Finnish stadium designs
