​Since it's founding last year, members associated with the group have had dozens of violent confrontations with both the Donas and Unita military police. A combination of a theoretical, national Opeck identity, government Christianization programs, and the invasion of the Northern Meonesia Federation have fueled a strong anti-Evenstar sentiment among many younger Opeckians. This is only further aggravated by the fact that as the cities on Opeck are colonies, they are not subject to normal Royal rule by an appointed Count, as many other cities are. No, instead, they are subject to military law, which is regarded as being more impersonal, unnecessarily harsher, and implies a state of second-hand citizenship (although such a thing does not seem to exist).
Concerns about the O.L.C. have been fermenting for quite some time, but has recently come to a head when emails, uncovered by spies working for the Evenstar Intelligence Department, seemed to have confirmed that many officers (as in, commanding officials) within the Military Police have made contacts with the O.L.C. and have arranged weapon deals with them. The officers responsible were imprisoned over the following two days (alongside their private staff [if they had any] and the members of the O.L.C. they were in contact with).
All those who were arrested were interrogated. One of the contacts from the O.L.C. that two of the MP officers communicated with for nearly half a year confirmed to E.I.D. spies that the O.L.C. had nearly 30,000 members who were paying dues (about $20 a month). Considering that Opeck has just over 430,000 citizens on it, this means that about 7% of the citizens on Opeck are financing supporting a separatist movement within the country. Additionally, the contact showed the E.I.D. documents (from a secret O.L.C. internet server that was seized by the E.I.D.) that showed that O.L.C. has built, armed, and organized a fighting force of about 700 fighters that are separate from the members that are paying dues.
The server that the E.I.D. obtained will be combed through through the month of July.
