  1. I'm afraid to report that Matterswork has been hit by a 12-foot tsunami. The confirmed deathtoll has reached 34, and there are 116 reports of missing persons.
  2. That's what I thought may happen to. All the more reason why if Texas does secede, the United States should use their full military to restore order.
  3. The international community should come together to decide what to do about these users of magic all across Orbis. The misuse of magic, particularly when used violently, as already shown it's destructive potential.
  4. I just checked Ace, the most populated nation so far, and he doesn't seem to have that issue.
  5. Recycling Centers + Hospitals = No people dying We don't really need anything else for pollution/disease
  6. Is that a subtle hint of anti-human speciesism? Regardless, not wearing clothing at all doesn't really constitute fashion- quite the opposite, really.
  7. The Evenstar congratulates Lelouch Vi of Britannia on his victory over Arabia! We wish we could've participated ourselves, but...international law prohibits it.
  8. >Trump is vile and hateful to Russia ''Trump is going to get us into a nuclear war!'' >Trump is respectful and cooperative ''Trump is being soft on tyrants!'' Holy SHIT there's no pleasing you guys.
  9. ''Hurr durr, Trump is going to get us into so many different wars.'' Trump, going by his comments, has been the most non-aggressive President when it comes to foreign policy- even more so than Clinton, who wanted to established a no-fly zone over Syria, thus putting us at odds with Russia. Speaking of Russia, Trump has been very respectful when speaking of Putin, and Putin has been the same to him.
  10. What are you talking about? Can you provide a source so I can read more about this? Not that I doubt you or anything, but that certainly does sound interesting.
  11. Why? Texas gives more to the federal government in taxes than it receives in aid. It also has a lot of natural resources.
  12. So, extradite them outside Velika.
  13. I never said it wasn't...? Generally, though, I do believe state governments aren't as corrupt as the federal government is. Furthermore, the ordinances of the state government is more likely to directly affect someone than something from the federal government- which is something that played hugely into the American Civil War. And, given how much support the Texan Nationalist Movement as, it seems that a lot of Texans trust their government,
  14. You make it sound like it's a bad thing.
  15. Sources: http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/05/texas-republicans-gop-secession-resolution http://www.inquisitr.com/3088435/republican-party-of-texas-secession-gop-convention-votes-in-favor-of-texas-leaving-the-united-states/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington's_Farewell_Address#Unity_and_sectionalism _______ I can understand the desire to break off from the Union if the federal government became really tyrannical. I mean, hell, we're already halfway there: Most members of Congress just want to fill their own pockets or have their names in the history books, and the different agencies of the federal government have become terribly inefficient and bloated. But at the same time, though, I believe in the preservation of the Union. George Washington himself, in his farewell address, made this a point: Plus, what was the sacrifice of the hundreds of thousands of lives in the American Civil War for if we just let states leave the Union because they feel like it? Nevermind the fact that an independent Texas would have the same result has the American Civil War did- a federal victory. So, what does the P&W community think? Should Texas have the right to be independent? Personally, I think not. I think if Texas does declare independence, that it would only be fair that the United States Armed Forces came crashing down on their heads. Rather or not that means immediate capitulation and the subsequent restoration of Constitutional order, or a few weeks of fighting followed by a decisive victory, would be up to the Texas State Guard.
  16. The Evenstar strongly condemns Velika for the injustice of arresting people for violating a law that wasn't in place at the time of the crime committed- nevermind that the crime itself wasn't a concrete act and just ''exploitation of the masses'' - whatever that means! The Evenstar also requests that we receive the members of royalty held in Velikan prisons.
  17. Ahh, my bad, I merely skimmed over the first clause and thought it was something else.
  18. Aren't they inherently violating this term by paying alliance taxes, or is that considered an ''indirect'' form of aid and isn't considered?
  19. Not just leak weather reports or something, but give out secret giving out classified information. They could be charged with treason under US law.
  20. So, then, my comparison was accurate. If RT journalists in America leaked information to Russia, they would be punished harshly here in America if they were caught. Similarly, as in the article in the OP, journalists in Egypt are being punished for leaking information.
  21. I just get annoyed when people try to shut down the criticism of Islamic terrorism by bringing up Christian terrorism. Have Christians committed horrible acts in the goal of trying to enforce their beliefs? Yes, but those who do make up an almost irrelevant number of Christian practitioners, and such acts are globally condemned by the hundreds of millions of Christians. Islamic Terrorism, on the other hand, has had hundreds of thousands of violent fighters kill people indiscriminately, and have, at the very least, the morale support of tens of millions of Muslims- not counting the millions of other Muslims who are indifferent or who provide material or financial support.
  22. I'm assuming that, despite the large size of the new areas claimed, that Hequ's general population isn't expanding by much?
  23. Pardon my absent from foreign affairs these past few weeks on Orbis. There's been a number of issues internally in The Evenstar that has required my attention. For starters, the Christianization of the nation is continuing steadily. The Dioist minority has voluntarily left the country as taxes on publicly non-Christian groups and individuals have been increased considerably. Also has a result of this, the number of Christians in then nation have further increased from 83% to 86%. Economically, The Evenstar has also switched from the Orbis Note to the Gold Standard. Taxes have been increased on alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and hard drugs (It should be noted that the latter two hasn't been illegal since The Evenstar became a monarchy). As a result of the taxes, the usage has went down, and the National Police have been keeping a watchful eye to ensure that black markets do not spring up. The Opeck Liberation Collective, which is a group dedicated to the independence of Opeck - the island that the colonies of Unita and Donas are located on - have been spreading propaganda and using the increased taxation and Christianization policies to increase their support. The Unita and Donas Military Police have been cracking down on the O.L.C., and some (albeit, small and isolated) violence has occurred. There have been concerns that the O.L.C. will turn more organized and violent, but we aren't concerned and are monitoring the situation. Finally, we are proud to announce that the nation of Thundera will be opening bases with The Evenstar. Both of our nations will construct one military base in the other, with each holding 2,000 troops and 36 aircraft (not counting staff). Thunderian soldiers will also be training Evenstar soldiers in these bases.
