This is a silly valentines event about 'Romancing' other alliances you'd like to treaty. We are now moving on to the voting phase. The entries have been split into 2 groups for written and photographic works. You are encouraged to judge based on the humor of the entry.
Also I forgot to give myself a day in schedule to set up the polls and stuff so the end date is being pushed back to the 27th.
You can view all the entries in full size on Imgur
Rules:- Play out your efforts to woo another alliance into signing a treaty of your dreams.
- The competition is divided into two categories each with their own prize pool. The first category is writing competition for letters, poetry, etc. The second category is for more graphical displays of affection such as a card design. You can enter both categories.
- The grading criteria is humor and natured banter.
- If there is a large number of entries staff reserves the right to shortlist the contestants for voting.
- Please keep all entries family friendly and within the community rules.
- Direct your efforts to alliances, not players. Entries featuring or directed at specific players will be disqualified and deleted.
- Entries must be an original human work of your own design to be eligible for grand prizes.
- AI or generator majority works qualify for participation awards but must be declared on submission.
- There is a minimal standard of content to qualify for any awards at staff's discretion.
-
You can only receive one participation prize regardless of your number of entries.
P.S
Roses are red,
Guardian is blue,
We have a treaty for you.

This is a silly valentines event about 'Romancing' other alliances you'd like to treaty. Like all valentines events this is gonna be cringey but the goal is the funny cringey. And yes, I'm 100% aware this might end up being the worst thing I've ever done.

The timing of the score change was more or less my fault for forgetting the singu/hs war was happening and including it in a list of stuff alex could do during his streams. Really though its impossible for anyone to know when something will be added more than a week in advance, much less plan around it, something I personally lament because it makes my life much harder. The score change started the process of discussion before singu even formed and basically comes down to it being a legitimate issue for whales to be able to sit out the majority of a war by building up. And while the change had the broad consensus of the design team, no there would have know when it would be added. Anyways, mine and Alex's DMs are open if you have any concerns about this.

Hello everyone I'm here with the results and prize winners of the recent pumpkin decoration contest. After consideration staff has added two additional prize pools in addition to the grand prize competition. The "Carve Em' Up" category recognizes contestants that committed fully to project and produced a real hold able pumpkin either by carving, sculpting, 3d printing, or other similar methods. The "Staff's Selections" category winners are staff's picks for entries that did not win another prize but still demonstrated above average commitment to to project. Prize money and achievements should be distributed in the next few days. Also apologies for the late awards posting, the additional categories added a lot more overhead than I originally planned for.

I am aware of the controversy regarding ai submissions, ultimately this is a failing by me as the event organizer to update rules for a modern issue. However, it would be immensely poor form for me to change rules after the event has already started so ai submissions will be allowed to stand for voting and the community can reward them or not based on votes. I am aware this is less than kind to the people who fully committed to high effort original works, to that end staff will be distributing additional prizes to such works at the end of the event.
Also if you are having issues with the poll being too small do a hard refresh so a fix to the forum theme can load.- 1

Edit: I've applied a fix for the tiny voting window as best I can, you may need to do a hard refresh of the page for it to fix.
Regarding AI: I am aware of the controversy regarding ai submissions, ultimately this is a failing by me as the event organizer to update rules for a modern issue. However, it would be immensely poor form for me to change rules after the event has already started so ai submissions will be allowed to stand for voting and the community can reward them or not based on votes. We are now entering the voting phase of the contest which will run until game day change on the 30th. Winners will be confirmed on the 31st but it may take up to a week to distribute prizes.
You can vote in the poll above by selecting your favorite pumpkins in the above poll, you can select however many you want but keep in mind the more you select the more you water down your votes.
To address the elephant in the room; I didn't really consider ai art when I wrote the rules for this competition and I'm not going to change them this late into the event, so ai art is being allowed. However this topic will be reconsidered for future events. Additionally some other submissions have been excluded because they are not original, do not contain a pumpkin or pumpkin substitute, or do not relate to PW in a meaningful way. If this includes your submission you can reach out to me in DM for clarification on staff's reasoning.
A big thank you to the 65 contestants who have made it to voting and everyone who has submitted. While it is too late to be entered into the grand prize voting you can still submit in the submissions thread linked below for the participation prizes and a chance at the Staff Selection prizes through the 31st.- 2

This is the cutoff to make it for voting. Continued submissions for the participation prize are allowed through the 31st.

These are not something you made and therefore not valid submissions. Nor are they related to the game.

Can two people do one together?
Sure but unless you both post it and specify what your contributions were only gonna give one of the any prize money and if you win you'll split it.

Photobucket or down scale the image.

While those do tend to do better minecraft submissions tend to do okay too, really more effort is better though. If there are enough submissions there might be a staff favorites prize set as well.

We are hosting our 4th ever Pumpkin Decoration Contest, starting today!
Edit: The period to be entered in the voting section for the grand prize has ended. However you can still submit through the end of the 31st to receive the participation prizes and a chance at the Staff Selection award.
Here are the rules:To enter, you need to come up with some Politics & War related concept (game related, alliance related, nation related, player related, etc.) and carve it into a pumpkin. Or paint it on a pumpkin. Or paint it on a watermelon. Or build it in Minecraft. Or 3D print it. You have a broad creative license.
Then, take a picture of your "pumpkin" and submit it here as a reply in this thread to enter the competition. You will have approximately 18 days to create and submit your entry. This thread will lock on October 24, and then we will have a period of voting from October 25 - October 30 where everyone will be able to vote on their favorite pumpkins.
The winners will then be announced October 31. Prizes may take up to a week to distribute.
*We know some players, depending on their geographic locations IRL may not have access to pumpkins. For this reason, we are okay with submissions that are carvings into other fruits / vegetables (e.g. a watermelon, a turnip, whatever you might have access to.) Or you can make a digital pumpkin. The world is your oyster!
Here are the prizes:
Everyone who participates will be guaranteed a special Halloween 2023 achievement for their nation related to this event and $10,000,000
The top 3 winners will receive a special nation award along with, $300m for first, $200m for second, $100m for third.
Additional prizes may be added depending on event participation!Other Notes:
We reserve the right to reject submissions not related to Politics and War.
You can submit multiple photos in the thread, but you need to identify one primary photo that we will use for voting.
We would also like to feature your creations on social media on our Politics and War accounts! If you do not want us to share your photo in this way, please just make a note of that when you post your submission.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask here in this thread so that everyone can see the questions and answers.
That's it! I hope you'll enjoy this fun little festive contest and giveaway. We are excited to see what you all can come up with!

Also we are looking for people who could sit for interviews on past events. Especially gov of major alliances pre 2018. If you are interested in being on the show please contact @Lysander.
The tentative date/time for the show is Saturday, August 5, 2023 8:00 PM EST

Sorry I don't have a more detailed post right now or specific replies for things, we're still going over feedback and sorting out stuff for a bunch of the things. I do want to clarify one thing though. The beige baiting idea is NOT set in stone, I know I didn't convey that well and I'm sorry about that. The fact that moderation is seeing an uptick in exploity cases and wants something to address beige baiting/slot filling in the expoity manner is non-negotiable, but the exact implementation of that is something that we have complete control over. I'm personally not the biggest fan of the current system either, but out of the options we had come up with it was the one we decided to go with. If you guys have better options we're all ears and I've got no issue making another post addressing that stuff in particular and possibly moving forward with a completely new idea or using this one with tweaks or conditions.
Okay some further clarification. While there has been a a surge of cases recently, this has been a problem with biege for a very long time now and has always trended upwards. It has over the last two years reached the point of essentially being meta for the losing side in a global to suicide into people hoping for biege. Because it was happening so much moderation caved a bit with the 'do damage ruling.' A continuation of the years long battle between the actual intent of the rules and the mechanical contradictions of the war system. Frankly speaking this has been a long time coming and now while the war system is already being decheesed is good a time to deal with it.
Ultimately mechanics are king and no amount of Deus Admin will offset literal invulnerability as a mechanic. -
A certain irony, your evidence is some new player trying to engage with the community about his new rp article. Someone raised a question about the name of one his ship classes and he responded with a wiki article about it being a real place. If one checks further all of his ship classes are named for islands in the region he is RPing. Now I do understand the concern with the name, but at least on cursory inspection this appears to be good faith rp so its been passed to the game mods to check further.
As for the slowmode, We've had rate limiting even before slowmode existed, but it was done by a bot and wasn't obvious. When it was implemented it was 100% required and honestly a noticeable improvement in the quality of the conversations that happened. I'm not entirely opposed to removing slowmode and I certainly wish Discord offered some lighter options. But I would want to hear more convincing arguments against a barrier to spewing unfiltered gibberish into the server than offered here. Also I'll note I'm working on regaining our verified status and one of the things discord looks at is how closely we follow their 'recommendations' and they really heavily imply they want 10 second slow mode in larger servers.- 4

Hi, after being inactive for a very long time I decided to return to the game. However, there is one problem that prevents me from playing : I am unable to create new trade offers. I've tried numerous times but I still get the same message error as you can see in the file attached.
I have enough ressources, I select the right parameters each time, so I really don't know where the problem is.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Do you have the same issue on a different browser or device?

That war is already closed so I can't do anything about it. For the future if you open a ticket on discord it will usually get a faster response for stuff like this.
