With the ongoing war, radiation is likely to nerf food production for a while. As a new player, I highly advise you to be buying food off the market to begin with as your nation won't be able to produce much to begin with. It would be much more beneficial to produce stuff like other raws, sell them on the market, and then use the funds to buy food. Hope this info helps.

No, not really. Though I will say they've shown relatively respectable growth and even some reformation (as far as I know) since the days of when I thought they would probably die quickly.

In real life, ignorance of the law is not a valid excuse and laws don't have to be "intuitive" to be legally binding. So boohoo. Also, it is actually intuitive (in my opinion) that exploiting game mechanics to prevent yourself or your alliance from being looted would give an unfair gameplay advantage and thus be against the rules.

All of the high bonus color blocks are basically "owned" by one alliance (or a few) and they police them to keep smaller nations off the bloc in order to maximize their bonus. This is a common thing with the current color bloc system.
