[Fire Lord Iroh files for Restraining Order]

The State of Israel pledges full diplomatic support to Fire Lord Iroh and offers unconditional humanitarian aid to Epimetheus. The Sheba Medical Center Psychiatric Ward has an open bed for Epimetheus and an IDF medical team is on standby to evacuate him from Prometheus, an old and proud nation but unfortunately lacking in critical infrastructure and with only a small number of cities.

    Dispatch from The Legion 

We’d like to make some brief comments on the situation with our former leader Istandor, explain our foreign policy stance and current militarization levels, and announce the new government.

Bank Heist / Extortion

To avoid dwelling on the topic and repeating much of which has already been released on RON, we’ll keep this very short:  

Istandor stole ~$9bn of our excess reserves to buy four cities before we disconnected the offshore from Legion's automated banking system, preventing further theft. Istandor then seized Legion assets such as the Discord server and the in-game alliance page and attempted to extort us for additional cash and resources.  Eventually he relented, which I’ll credit at least partially to Horsecock for being honest with Istandor about the consequences of his actions.  We move forward.

 

Foreign Policy and Militarization

On September 29th, we issued a notice of cancellation to The Back Rooms following the departure of our friends in Carthago.  Ultimately, we decided as a government to take the risk and go paperless.  We wanted to take some time to figure out what kind of alliance we want to be, improve in areas we have been disappointed with in the past, and pave our own path forward until we find allies we can forge strong connections with.  We aren’t committed to remaining paperless, but we aren’t afraid of it either.  We hope to come out the other side a more resilient, refined alliance. We militarized and remain militarized as a deterrent.  

 

Government Update

We consolidated our government and absorbed EA into the IA umbrella.  We’ve also removed the position of Proconsul and made FA the second in command ex officio.  Kiwilliam has been selected by the Consulate as the fourth Imperator of The Legion and our Consul of Military Affairs Michael Lybrand has stepped down and been replaced by Totem.

Preamble:

The Legion and Waffle House (herein "the signatories") agree to the following terms of this protectorate treaty:

Article I: Breakfast Favorites

1. The signatories agree to refrain from any act of aggression towards one another, be it hot war or espionage, and commit to furthering the shared security and welfare of both alliances.

2. The signatories agree to share any pertinent intelligence, so long as the information is not bound by outside confidentiality agreements. Pertinent intelligence is deemed as information that threatens the security or sovereignty of either signatory.

Article II: Lunch / Dinner

1. An unwarranted act of war upon Waffle House is considered an act of war upon The Legion. The Legion agrees to provide mandatory military, financial, and political support to Waffle House should Waffle House be attacked.

2. In the event Waffle House comes under attack via activation of an external treaty or actions considered to have provided a valid casus belli to a third party, the mandatory defense is then considered optional defense.

Article III: Beverages

1. Waffle House will not take offensive military action, except to counter raids, without the approval of The Legion government.

2. Waffle House will not sign any treaties containing a mandatory defense clause without the approval of The Legion government.

3. Waffle House is encouraged, but not required, to aid in the defense of The Legion should The Legion come under attack.

Article IV: Value Dollar$ Menu

1. This pact may be upgraded at any time upon mutual agreement of both signatories. The Legion commits to a formal review for upgrade at a date no less than 90 days from the signing of this pact.

2. If either signatory feels that this treaty has been unjustly violated and resulting diplomatic negotiations have not offered an acceptable resolution, notification of withdrawal must be given to the remaining signatory within seventy-two hours. Should this treaty be voided, a forty-eight hour cooldown period begins in which neither alliance may declare war on the other.

Preamble:
The Legion and House Stark (herein "the signatories") come together under the guiding principles of friendship, mutual defense, and common prosperity to establish the All Roads Lead to Winterfell Accords, a non-chaining Mutual Defense and Optional Aggression Pact.

Article I: There's No Cure For Being a C***
The signatories agree to refrain from any act of aggression towards one another, be it hot war or espionage, and commit to furthering the shared security and welfare of both alliances.

Article II: I Drink and I Know Things
The signatories agree to share any pertinent intelligence obtained through "little birds" or frumentarii, so long as the information is not bound by outside confidentiality agreements. Pertinent intelligence is deemed as information that threatens the security or sovereignty of either signatory.

Article III: A Legionnaire Always Pays His Debts
The signatories are encouraged to provide financial aid to one another in order to support the principle of common prosperity, especially if one of the signatories is at war or rebuilding from a war.

Article IV: The Night Is Dark and Full of Romans
An act of war upon one signatory is considered an act of war on both signatories. Legionnaires and Bannermen of House Stark agree to provide mandatory mutual defense should either signatory be attacked. In the event either signatory comes under attack via activation of an external treaty, the mandatory defense is then considered optional defense.

Article V – The Man Who Passes the Sentence Should Swing the Sword
In the event that a signatory requires assistance in an aggressive war against a third party, signatories are strongly encouraged but not obligated to assist the other by means of financial or military support.

Article VI – We Don't Get to Choose Whom We Love
