I do tend to take a back seat to Pre (at least in the mechanics segments, the balance is more even in the politics segments.) He's just far more invested in that aspect than I am. Also I was just enjoying sitting back and letting Pre take the lead, it was a nice change from other games where I was the host driving the show and doing the majority of the talking. I'm happy to have anyone who would like to join in the mechanics discussion, just shoot me a PM. Or just hit me up during the show to do a call in.

Sometimes we take them, sometimes we don't, depends how the show's going and where we're at time wise. To do a call-in, (assuming we're broadcasting during skype, which I think we are) send your skype username to myself/Pre via query on irc during the show. If we've got time for call-ins, we'll add you to the call.

Yeah. It'll be recording it, and it'll be up on my (the SK site) an hour or so after it's over. I'll send a copy to Malone as well and if he's still got his archive going, I'm sure he'll throw it up there as well. All the ones Pre and I hosted are on the SK Radio site. I believe the ones Pre/Malone hosted are also on Malone's site somewhere, but I don't have the link handy.

I'm excited for this. It was fun hosting for a little while last time, glad to be back. If you have questions you want asked/topics you want discussed, and for some reason you hate Pre to much to send him a PM, or you don't think he'd give your questions fair shrift (though I can assure you he would) you can also feel free to send them to me. If they're relevant and not completely stupid, I'll make sure they get addressed.

I hosted the show with Pre before Malone, and I thought it went okay. I'd be down to host with him again. And if there's a better host, or someone Pre prefers to do the show with, I'd also be happy to just broadcast/record if needed.

I did the banner they used in their last two announcements, and the sigs they used in the RoW. Partisan wanted medieval and naturally came to me Their normal stuff is quite excellent, but I dunno who does it.

If people choose to build in sub-optimal manner to prepare for war, that's not a problem with the system, it's a poor choice made by the individual.

Ultimately, the community is not going to be capable of policing this shit itself. OOC/IC should absolutely be kept separate, but frankly the burden of making sure it's kept that way is on the shoulders of administration and staff. As long as it's tolerated by game staff, you're going to have players, or even whole alliances are going to flame, to troll, and to use OOC shit in an IC way. Either there's strict enforcement of rules against flaming, baiting, trolling, etc., and a strict policing of the IC/OOC line by the staff, or there isn't and that sort of behavior will continue to spread. It's that simple.

I agree in part and (possibly?) disagree in part. You're completely right about people trying to twist entering a war into defense, even when it isn't. It's a ridiculous spectacle that occurs because a lot of people, for whatever reason, lack the balls to just say "we're hitting you aggressively because X". Or they think they PR of hitting defensively is better so they twist themselves into pretzels to claim defense instead. Just grow a pair and admit there's no defensive clause but you're hitting anyway. I also agree that for the vast majority of treaties, the situation here wouldn't trigger an MD clause (I suppose it's possible to word a treaty in such a way that this would trigger it, but I haven't seen any treaties like that in Orbis.) Now here's where we possibly disagree (I say possibly, because I may be reading an interpretation into your post that isn't there.) You seem to be suggesting that it's somehow less legitimate to enter a war "aggressively" if you don't have an oA clause in the treaty. I would vehemently disagree with this. As I see it, all alliances have the ability to take pretty much any action they want, whenever they want, unless they've specifically signed a treaty, or some other instrument that restricts that ability. It's that ability that everyone refers to when they talk about "alliance sovereignty." For instance, alliances can start a war by aggressively attacking someone, and they do it all the time. It's how every war starts. And that's a legitimate, "legal" (for lack of a better term) action. And if you can start a war aggressively, obviously you can join in a war that's already ongoing. Ergo, it's completely fine to jump into a war aggressively, even if you only have an MD and not MDoA. One is not more okay than the other. Or as I've put it numerous times over the years, and said in at least a couple threads on these forums, as well as on the radio show, everyone alliance has an OAODP with every other alliance just by virtue of existing (unless they've signed something that specifically restricts that right).

Minor nitpick. The SK-DEIC treaty is listed as an MDoAP, it's actually an MDP. This remains fantastic Phiney, thanks for the work you do on it. EDIT: Just noticed a couple other things. Genius Corps no longer exists, so the DEIC-Genius Corps Protectorate could be removed. And since Uranicus Socialitis is merging into Rose (as their in-game AA page says) their treaties can probably be removed as well.

I love having the infra destroyed, but it would be improved I think if it also tracked how much infra you've lost. Every other counter counts both things --- what you've destroyed and what you've lost. I think infra tracker would be improved if it was the same.
