  1. Just shut up and get on with it. Why do you need to respond, if you aren't going to be here in 48 hours? Your argument is that you need to do some housekeeping before you leave, why don't you just get on that and then leave? You're wasting time posting here.
  2. Shit, you mean like NPO seeks to destroy communities? I get that the loss in the war, this sudden, is bitter. The victory on the other side I'll tell you isn't a whole lot better. But what are you going to do, when NPO had a well-known cheating ring going on for months, and finally something was done about it, and the side that lost that cheating ring, the leaders instruct their members to mass delete. I predict that won't have as much of an effect as they hope, people who invested time and even real money aren't going to leave, none more than a small handful, and if the leaders encouraging it don't delete themselves, then they deserve to be mocked for an eternity over it.
  3. The only thing that kept you afloat was a mass cheating effort. While the step-in did decide the war, I'd say it was more than justified.
  4. It's something that would only be suggested by someone who knew fully of the rulebreaking scheme, and wants to impart their own misery on everyone else.
  5. Aw, enforcement of game rules to stop mass cheating, yeah, how horrible, Alex. Look, I get it, the sudden defeat due to a rules enforcement feels bitter. I get it. Take your break, take a breather, and I'm sure I'll see you again when you come around to reality. Be thankful you got an easy white peace out of it. Could have been a lot worse, and it probably will be for at least one alliance in particular.
  6. Congrats, my friends, on peace, and best of luck on the rebuild.
  7. It was a classic, indeed.
  8. Thank you for taking unbiased but firm action, Alex. This action gives me confidence and faith in PnW as a game. Some people will be mad because "their side" was reliant on this scheme, but I hope they will come around and understand that this action was necessary to maintain a sense of fairness in the game.
  9. When one alliance betrays you, it speaks to a flaw in that alliance. When every alliance betrays you, it speaks to your own flaws.
  10. Yeah, I wouldn't expect a single airstrike to like, reset a stadium back to zero or anything, but the idea of being able to chip away at 3-4 levels or something, that would be nice. And assassinate players would take out only one player, etc. Maybe with a happiness penalty back home if you're caught, because how dare you target an innocent sportsball player. And yes, I consider the button modification a cheat. Baseball is easy enough as it is without a one-touch cookie click mod. It arguably isn't on the level of a bot, but I really think it still pushes past the bounds of what is fair play. The game is, again, "politics and war," ironically I also have a running game of Cookie Clicker that's been going for years, and I don't want PnW to be the same as that. I came here for, well, politics, and war. I think the ultimate question Alex has to ask is whether or not a clicker game is within the spirit of what a political game is supposed to be, especially when certain alliances are very much using/abusing it in a manner to gain an edge in a war. I think it should be nerfed a great deal, I'm fine if it isn't removed, but lets say, 15-20 games per tick, which would still come to 180-240 per day (instead of 1000), which is still basically a free 4-5 million. And, you know, you can't just sit there and crank it out all in one go. Hell, I could see myself playing the 15 games/tick every 2 hours if the limit was set there. 1k per day, all at once, is still an open invitation to cheating/botting/modding. Spreading it out over each game tick, encourages more people to engage with the game for a longer period of the day and discourages modding/scripting.
  11. Then what's so wrong with allowing Baseball to be a target in war? Blow up stadium improvements or assassinate players. I'm open to a side game being a part of PnW, but lets make it more than a damn cookie clicker that people bot/mod their way to easy mode (and then claim that people who haven't modified the site to make it easy have "lost the political game" because they aren't also cheating)
  12. Ah, good to be enlightened on the fact that NPO wasn't actually copying DBDC and that what DBDC did was well within the rules (and also a bit hilarious if I am totally honest). NPO saw that and said "how can we reach them" and concluded "ask the mods if we can cheat." But that's not about Baseball. With regards to the subject at hand, I think the most legitimate argument each side has boils down to the following: 1) The side that doesn't want Baseball argues that it is a cookie clicker that generates essentially a free $22m/day, unbalancing the game with no skill input 2) The side in favor of keeping Baseball argues that it is an essential "comeback mechanic" to keep the game interesting. My response would be: The comeback mechanic in this game should be politics. Literally in the name of the game, you use politics to build relationships with bigger alliances in order to situate yourself in a position where your alliance can win the next war. That's the point of political war games, the whole dang point. And we saw that in this conflict, where people left NPO's side en masse due to poor political plays on NPO's part and/or brilliant political moves on the part of their opponents. Now NPO's side argues for the necessity of a "comeback mechanic." The mechanic is already here, it's to get good at politics, something I will add that NPO historically has been quite excellent at, if you have any of those sorts of leaders left, none can argue that NPO didn't know how to play politics. You already have your mechanic. Baseball is NOT necessary for those ends. Now, some thoughts I had, since Baseball has such an impact on the game, I think that baseball should be impacted by the game as well, if we're going to keep it. How about allowing planes to target baseball stadiums, spies to assassinate players, damaging the mechanic through war? That could be interesting, instead of leaving it as an isolated moneymaker. That, along with reductions in the daily games limit (maybe 100 home games per day, or even better, 10 home games per two hour tick) would help balance what is currently an unbalanced mechanic.
  13. Real-World Transactions for In-Game Materials Politics & War has a limited donation system to prevent the game from being "pay-to-win." In addition to limits on Credit usage, it is against the rules for players to make exchanges of real-life money or goods for in-game materials, including but not limited to: in-game money, and in-game resources. Examples of this type of behavior would include: sending someone real-life money for in-game money or in-game resources, purchasing someone a Steam game for in-game money or in-game resources, sending someone a gift-card for in-game money or in-game resources, and any other sort of real-world trade for in-game goods. The punishment for real-world transactions for in-game materials will be a complete nation reset upon first offense, and a permanent ban from Politics & War upon a second offense. ==== My understanding is that the vast majority of GPWC members are there because NPO provides something along the lines of Manga translation in exchange for their participation in the game as resource farms. That would be an exchange of in-game resources for real-world goods. It's amazing it has been allowed to persist as long as it has. Props to NPO for always finding creative ways to break the rules in their favor.
  14. ITT: The side that abuses baseball and has a 1000 member human bot/mechanical turk resource farm accuses their opponents of playing unfairly.
  15. To elaborate: Some idiot members of NPO were bragging about their alleged war prowess and bragging that they got to grow so big "through wars and battles." Well, one player decided to check up on Carnivore (stats going back to ~2013) and discovered that these "wars and battles" were NPO vs NPO, where some nations would set themselves up fat with land and tech, and allow the other nations to hit them and raid these resources to balloon themselves to massive levels. NPO went radio silent for like a week after being exposed. Their eventual defense for such actions was "the mod team gave us permission when we asked," which is strange, because other alliances were not allowed to engage in the same activities, raiding departing members on their way out. In game warnings were handed out to others for such practice. But somehow, NPO got a free pass. I'm sure it has nothing to do with most mod staff there being NPO members. And that's what NPO does. Politics doesn't really belong in this forum I think, but as an entity, there is no rule which NPO won't seek to bend or break in their favor. That's just a sad fact. And you're damn right I signed that demand to the CN mods years ago - I despise cheating in all of it's forms, without regard as to whether or not it is providing an advantage to NPO.
  16. We can rehash the argument had on the CN forums if you like. But it has to do with the mod team (mostly NPO members) giving NPO a pass on your "landing program" while not allowing others to do the same thing. Mod sanctioned cheating.
  17. Seven months into a probably endless war that is likely hurting the game, and your argument is that, without baseball, certain parties couldn't maintain fighting an endless war that is bad for the game. Huh.
  18. Allow me to illustrate the extreme strategy levels of Baseball as currently implemented: Actually, this comparison is unfair to Fisher-Price.
  19. It's not totally untrue about a catch up mechanic, there is none in CN, and NPO there cheated their way to the top of the game and there's nothing anyone can do anymore, and so most people left by now. I don't get the point, but they got something wrong in their brains over there. However, back to baseball. It's busted, completely. A comeback mechanic should be something that allows someone with sufficient skill and strategy to gain a slight edge over someone who is further along. It shouldn't just be free money if you push a button a bunch of times. And if the argument was that baseball was supposed to be unimportant side entertainment, the fact that it is the top contender for "comeback mechanic" among those who use it says everything about how it has failed to stay in its lane as side entertainment. I am in favor of fixing it. Maybe make it more skill intensive, add some depth of strategy, fewer but more meaningful and strategic games, etc. Or consider putting something in it's place. Maybe poker, lol. Can we just have poker actually, put up some of your nation's cash and play some poker. That would be pretty sweet.
  20. To be clear, players don't enjoy baseball, they enjoy getting a free 22 million per day. GOONS have admitted to (at least) creating a manipulation of the game page to turn PnW into essentially cookie clicker. The question is, do you want this game to be Politics and War, or do you want it to be a competitive clicker hero game? The rewards from a simple clicking game are far too high. It is in need of at least a substantial nerf or overhaul. Edit to avoid double posting: comparisons to raiding are a bit silly. Raiding is war, which is half of the name of this game. And picking safe targets and defending yourself if you screw up is not the same as the mindless, consequence free, zero effort free money of playing cookie clicker (in the best case scenario where they aren't botting)
  21. You'd have to take it up with those parties for the small handful of conflicts going on there, I hardly know anything about who they even are. Doesn't strike me as the hellfire OD was threatening, though.
  22. I believe the promise was that we wouldn't threaten to destroy and forcibly disband them if they fell out of line. Unlike OD and friends, who need even their cowards to stick with it to keep the ship afloat. But I am just a four day old jackass, what do I know?
  23. Typically, either you negotiate collective peace with your allies and leave together, or you leave ahead of them with their blessing. You don't just cancel treaties and leave them behind to eat shit. And then shamelessly dress it up as a party with kittens instead of giving a damn good reason for your decision.
