  2. Sky-gazers across Orbis are in for a treat on April 13th when a total solar Eclipse will pass over The Knights Radiant, Event Horizon, and Rose (soon™). Hordes of people are expected to come out to watch the event, however, experts warn that directly staring at the Eclipse can result in blindness or disrupted vision. They also warn against conspiracy theories floating around online that unsuspecting individuals have fallen prey to. TL;DR - Eclipse celebrates 4 years of existence. The people of Orbis are also invited to Eclipse's anniversary events, which will include Scribble, movie night, Chess, Among Us, Putt Party, Tetris, and Hunger games, on April 20th in the Eclipse server. Here's to another 4 years of hell Eclipse!

NASSAU, Bahamas, 2024-04-05: SYNDICATE, Inc., (NYSE:SCC) deems it necessary to inform the community at large about recent events surrounding the former servers The Syndicate utilized for its public operations. On the early hours of 04/04, the Board learned that the Discord account of the person who held ownership of both servers had been compromised via phishing. Efforts to back up the contents of both servers began immediately, and were completed midway through the day. Efforts to duplicate the servers' template likewise began immediately and were concluded by the next day, with the original owner of the account contacting Discord support to have the account frozen. On 04/05, the perpetrator transferred ownership of the servers from the compromised account to a new account (a presumed buyer, according to this account). With the servers effectively lost, t$' govt proceeded with eliminating the now backed up contents of both servers and kicking everyone who wasn't a t$/e$ member (who had already been notified about the situation) to minimize the harm the perpetrator could carry out and to render his ill-gotten gains void. After trying and failing to everyone ping in the now hollow server, and after a self-incriminating conversation which was screen capped to provide to Discord support, the perpetrator proceeded to delete both old servers.   4. As we continue to put focus on remedies using diplomacy, discussions have been had in private channels about extending the Orbis NAP and having peace between spheres. This has been agreed upon and involved parties are listed in length at the end of this article. This will be effective following immediately after the end of the current non-aggression pact from the One Day War ending on May 18th, 2024 12:00 AM Gametime (Standard Update) The agreed upon terms are as followed: A non-aggression period between the constituent alliances of all coalitions lasting August 18th, 2024 12:00 AM Gametime (Standard Update) during which as defined are: No wars on members No raids on members No mass ghosting to hit coalition members No shell alliance hits No spy attacks will be carried out against the other coalition’s members No hiring of mercenaries or raiders to hit the opposing coalition signatories Signatories agree that an agreement of mutual defense supersedes non-aggression. Henceforth, if there is found to be documented and proven aggression by any signatories, diplomacy should be executed to resolve by way of peace, financial reparations, or war. Response by the defending party is at their discretion, based on severity. The terms of the NAP are considered void between the aggressive signatory or parties and the receiving signatory or parties - depending on violation, only upon official statement given publicly. If no statement of voiding is given publicly, with proof, then the NAP as outlined prior will continue to be enforced.   5. AUTHORED BY THE EVER ELOQUENT SUPERFLOUS LYSANDER THE GREAT This is disgraceful. Y’all, c’mon. We’ve watered down peace terms to white peace and a NAP. Sometimes wars are the result of political maneuvering - it’s clear this NAP was - but very little of that is made public. Some of the recently used “CBs” have made it clear that the war itself is because of something, but the reasoning is increasingly hidden from the public. Most players no longer even know what they’re fighting a war for when one kicks off. Spectators have no clue what the true reasoning is unless they’re in-the-know. And once the war finishes, the terms are white peace (or maybe a surrender) and a NAP. We’re aware most of you don’t care about this opinion. We just couldn’t sit around and watch a good number of our friends, within and without the alliance, continue to lose interest in the game because the talking heads don’t care about the overall game. This post isn’t about “politics” - it’s about pointing out that this is just… uncool. The mergers we’ve seen reduce the number of political actors. That’s not to say they’re not a valid strategy, but so is signing a forever NAP and just never fighting again. In fact, never fighting again is the optimal strategy. I’m sure some parts of the game are working hard on that goal, but the point is that, as players, we are partially responsible for the health of the game & its political environment. I hope this is the only time we see this happen, but I’m not going to pretend that’s what I expect. First it was 3.5 months for one day. Now it’s an extra 3 months for no time. Maybe these thoughts mean nothing. But we’re not the only ones having them.   17. Hey everyone, this month brought a lot of changes in the Politics and War development space, for starters I’ve come back to work on the game again, having gotten school under control. More importantly though, we now have a development team, with @Putmir Vladin and @Unlimited joining the team as Community Developers! Thanks to their amazing help, I’m excited to announce that we’re finally able to deliver monthly updates, with this post being the culmination of all the work we’ve been able to do in March after completing onboarding! Updates Espionage Rewrite Two things were missing when I completed the wars rewrite last summer, an espionage rewrite and a battle simulator rewrite. This month, espionage has been completely rewritten and next month we’re tackling the battle simulator! No mechanical changes to espionage were done as part of this rewrite, however the project changes below will have some effect. New Projects Two new projects have been added to the game, Guiding Satellite and Nuclear Launch Facility! More information about them can be found in the Game Development Discussion post here https://forum.politicsandwar.com/index.php?/topic/36867-game-development-discussion-update-feedback/. Note: We are aware of the lack of project pictures, Alex has been very busy and we’re waiting for him to get images, personally I’d rather have new projects without pictures than delay content for an image. Revenue Rewrite To improve performance and development productivity, we’ve also redone the revenue backend and frontend this month! However, we need your help! Revenue is a very large segment of code, and it’s edge cases are not easily tested on the test server like when working with wars. To that end, the new revenue page is being deployed live now, however the code running and turn change has not changed. We kindly ask that you take a look at your new revenue page (https://politicsandwar.com/nation/revenue) and the old revenue page (made available temporarily here https://politicsandwar.com/index.php?id=230) and open a ticket on the PnW Discord server with pictures of both if you notice any differences that amount to a difference of more than $10. There will be small changes in money and food due to some rounding optimizations. Once we’ve verified that the new system is correctly calculating revenue, we will release the new backend (which should significantly improve turn and day change times!). Project Updates A number of projects got new pricing or were rebalanced, the entire list can be found in the forum post here https://forum.politicsandwar.com/index.php?/topic/36611-game-development-discussion-project-commerce-update-proposal/. Of note however is that for the moment only the mechanical changes to Activity Center, Spy Satellite, and Surveillance Network are available on the live server. Since the remaining projects effect revenue, we are delaying there release until we have verified the new revenue backend functions correctly. Expect these to be released in a week or two once we’ve worked out any kinks in the new system! Map Calibrator Disabled I have disabled the automatic MAP calibrator on war pages, this seems to be the culprit of the insane quantities of deadlock errors encountered during the opening round of globals. If you notice any discrepancies with your MAPs or any other aspect of wars please open a ticket on the PnW Discord server so I can look into why. Color Bloc Bonus Increase The color bloc bonus cap has been increased from $75,000 to $125,000, correspondingly the beige turn bonus has been increased from $50,000 to $85,000. Miscellaneous Changes You are no longer able to spy on alliances with which you are allied. The city page now has a button to directly copy the city’s build without having to go to the export page. The trade cap has been increased to allow trades of up to a hundred million units. The max bulletin length has been increased to 25,000 characters. An icon will now show on the trade page on trades with members of your own alliance. Roadmap The road ahead is exciting!   20. Separate from my usual feelings about your somewhat baseless ramblings, it is really ripe to see you post this here of all places. You (Camelot, of which you are sole decision-making head) dropped the people of Atlas without giving them a long enough opportunity to adjust to your requests. Nobody is claiming they are perfect - see further post below - but you lost all credible argument space on this. We all know you like to puppet anyone who is silly enough to ask for your help ("we will send someone over" isn't how the rest of the civilized world treats prots,), but its rich to see you basically arguing merge or die. Maybe you were drawn here because for once someone was posting a complaint about a different alliance than Camelot. @Mac a couple of tips, both OOC and IC: -Bold is a really great tool to use for headers breaking up a long post like this or to create emphasis on a short point. Using it through your entire post makes it difficult to read, let alone understand. But I will say from our limited interaction, this does match your communication style - long, rambling, limited punctuation, and no editing. If you want other people to respect you and bother responding, spending a minute cleaning up your thoughts goes a long way. -This makes a third separate protectorate that has dropped you in six weeks. It is probably time to look in the mirror and figure out why that is. Sounds like you do not even need to request feedback, as plenty has been provided and ignored already. -Finding potential partners and allies does mean having to compromise and adjust your preferences. If you fail to do so, often that pushes people away, like Camelot, WAP, and the nice people from Western Republic who de-merged from you. An important point here though: publicly going scorched earth on everyone when a relationship fails accomplishes nothing. You alienate others in a very small community of Orbis. To this point: please stop harassing the members of Western Republic. They have moved on after finding reasonable terms to separate, yet you continue to DM them privately and ping them publicly. Poaching attempts will no longer be ignored. Manage your own alliance with your members and leave those that chose to disassociate from you alone. (I would also suggest applying this advice to Camelot and WAP, because as you can see above, when you overstate your self-importance and publicly attempt to mislead, the other party can come along and correct the record.) -Good luck in the future, sincerely. Most people would see this as a learning opportunity and try to do better next time. But I remain skeptical this will be the case for you. Leading is hard: Your members are counting on you to make good decisions and put them in the best possible situation. They trust you. I always try not to take such responsibility lightly. You might want to do the same.

In no particular order: Learn a musical instrument Start an exercise routine Coup your leaders Leave your terrible alliance Pick up knitting Give painting a try, Bob Ross is nice to watch Listen to some new, or old, music Read a book or 20 Start shopping for your autumn wardrobe - the NAP will end by the time the weather starts turning in many areas. Give Rise of Kings Online a try, a new nationsim game that doesn't [yet] have years of NAPs being signed Learn some basic Spanish Do some yoga Visit your family Post your ideas for how to spend the 2024 NAP here!

As Captain-General Jeric and the Guardians of the Dawn flew through yet another solar system on the legion’s long journey, they noticed an odd planet that reminded them of a place called Earth they’d visited before. This planet had no known name in the ship’s navigation system, but was noticeably colder than what seemed normal for the planet’s location. Nevertheless, life was still abundant, and the Legion of Dawn broadly agreed it seemed like a suitable place to rest before continuing on their journey. The legion landed near a castle called Winterfell, and shortly after found themselves investigated by a local scouting party. Captain-General Jeric and the Guardian of the Bastion, Kan, agreed to visit with the rulers of the local kingdom. They found the castle of Winterfell impressive, despite being antiquated compared to the technology they were used to. The representatives of the Legion of Dawn, after asserting they were not there to cause any trouble, found themselves feasting merrily with the King of Winter, Ataxia Stark, and his advisors. Tales were sung of battles past, with undernotes of warning about “the coming Winter.” Jeric and Kan believed they could quite easily fix this problem, as their ship was capable of producing a tremendous amount of energy which could easily be released to warm the planet and prevent the encroaching cold, and offered their aid. “Are you certain you wish to join us in the fight against the Winter?” King Ataxia asked, with a furrow in his brow. “Of course,” said Captain-General Jeric. The two shook hands, formalizing the alliance. “After all,” Jeric said, “how hard could dealing with some snow really be?” “Snow?” Ataxia questioned. “Snow is the least of your worries now…” And in the far distance, the White Walkers felt the birth of the new alliance, and were worried. TL:DR The Legion of Dawn and House Stark sign an MnDoAP.

We have your embassy archived if you’d like to have a look. Happy to show all the times that you shot yourself in the foot, most recently when your whole server got deleted because you refused to move over to one where you had admin because it was “too much effort”.   30. Hey all, As some of you may know, we had a thread where we asked for feedback on what our next update should be. Now that both the Project/Commerce rework and Generals updates are both being coded by the development team, it is time for the design team to begin planning for the colour bloc update. I've seen a few proposed changes to this, and I feel as though we should look at some that have been presented to me. If you wish to voice your ideas, this thread will be the place to do so. No decision has been made on where we should go, and once I have a feel of what the more popular ideas are, I'll likely go back to the design team to create a full proposal. Generally what we are looking for are 2 things, 1) A rework on how colour is calculated and 2) A colour bloc council that allows for political/economic decisions. Current Idea Proposal: Colour Calculation Changes Step 1: Eliminate all people not in an alliance from counting towards the color bonus. Eliminate all people city 10 and below from counting towards the color bonus. (Can still benefit from the color bonus). Step 2: Adjust the Turn Bonus formula from: Turn Bonus = (Average Daily Monetary Net Revenue / Nations) To this: Turn Bonus = ( (Average Daily Monetary Net Revenue * 0.75) / Nations) Step 3: Instead of raising the cap to 150k, change the cap to the following formula. Currently this is around ~111k with the above changes. New Turn Bonus Cap = (Total Aggregate DNR/Total Nations) Step 4: Create a second bonus with the following formula: Recruit Bonus = (Total Nations <c11 on Color/(Total Nations <c11/5)) * New Turn Bonus Cap Step 5: Add the revised Turn Bonus to the new Recruit Bonus. This is your final Color Turn Bonus. What this accomplishes: Removes the need to bully nanos off of colors. Gives nanos free reign to choose any color and receive it's bonus without impact. Remove the need for training alliances that don't benefit from the main alliances bonus. Creates value for lower tier nations and nanos for larger nations and alliances, giving them slightly more power. Larger alliances can court smaller alliances to increase their recruitment bonus. Allows for multiple approaches to gain increased bonus without changing the system to benefit one style of play over another. Create a cap that automatically scales over time as the game grows or shrinks, and pins the recruitment bonus to a value that adjusts to the ebb and flow of player count. Treasure Changes Treasures have increasingly become very rewarding to only large/wealthy alliances. To the point where treasure ‘sniping’ has made them almost an exclusively a mechanic for top 8 alliances and whale nations. The following is to try and balance that out a little. Further updates on treasures may come in the future that further link them to colour blocs. Treasures now only spawn in nations with the same colour as their alliance. A nation must be on the colour for at least 14 days for a treasure to spawn on that nation. Removal of continent requirement for treasures. The two treasures that spawn in any nation (Hoa Hakananai'a & Holy Grail) will now instead spawn in a nation on the lowest colour bloc at the time of its respawn.   33. I wanted to launch this thread because I felt it time to respond to some things.... The great team of Atlas has been through a lot. After taking in Commo's team, and paying all their debts off, they ripped our alliance in half twice. Camelot dropped us two short weeks later claiming the world was ending and nanos and micros didnt matter anymore. We have spent the last two weeks with great people from WAP trying to piece together the dedicated group, a daunting task by both sides to undergo. WAP said they wanted to try and improve us, we tried very hard but when we struggled with issues or weren't online fast enough they would get angry with us, we started to feel after a few days that they were being really harsh. Our gov was worried that we wouldn’t be welcome and we decided to try and find a new protectorate, one who would be patient and help us with hard tech things that we don’t understand. WAP has dropped us today with no 72 hour notice claiming that we did not try at all to comply with anything they said, while also claiming looking for others protectorates is against the treaty. WAP deleted our embassy so we have no record of any of the conversations, but we have been working extremely hard. We have raised our revenue by tons, increased our members recruitment and found two government officials we can count on to help fix builds and help our guys get the help they need to learn the game. I honestly thought maybe they were just trying to motivate us but after they cut us we felt like everything was a joke to them and they never wanted to help us learn. It bothers me as a player, because I wonder why the norms seems to apply to everyone but us, when clearly the people inside my alliance want to be here with us and make things work, and be part of a community. It feels like because I don’t do well with a single issues and its hyper-focused on that this means I am a waste of their time, and that we shouldn’t have any expectations be given 3 days to leave. I remember last year other alliances who didn't give notice were frowned on. We had a rough time in recent weeks, and are sorry that we let our friends at WAP down and always want to make our allies proud to be a part of our team.

  40. Just build your nation with Alum, Fuel, Ammo, and Uranium mines. Jack it all up since there's no real Improvement destruction in the game. Build all the nuke/missile projects. Go crazy. Color bonus and Daily income bonus (Plus the income protection you have that keeps them from being looted) plus the self sufficient improvement resources, and you can build nukes/missiles without worry about being blockaded. You can have 50/10 Improvement slots of self-sufficiency to do this because the Infra Cap means jack shit. Then just go to town hitting all the whales and nations out there. Fresh built nukes/missiles are protected from being spied on. Just check in once a day, "Oh I got 12 MAPs? Nuke." Go back to doing other things because no matter what your target does, they can't stop you. Sure they can fast beige you with 5 Naval/3 Ground attacks, but they're eating at least 1 nuke and 2 missiles in that time frame. If they mess up, that's 2 nukes + whatever missiles. If they don't beige you, well, you just beiged them and loot the hell out of them. And if you get beiged, that's more bonus income and the ability to resupply yourself if needed. Lather, rinse, repeat. This balance/game design team is stupid. "But the projects are expensive" - Please... Anybody can get those within weeks, if not days. "What's your solution to this, Hippo?" Well, one solution is that any improvements over infra level cap should have increased destruction chances. Don't jack up the color bonus and inflate MORE free income into the game. That's beyond stupidity. Remove the spy protection from nukes and missiles or remove these projects in the game. Could also lower the income protection limit that can't be looted. All of these ideas people will hate, but they're necessary to maintain a balance.

  41. If you capped alliance numbers, alliances would just make multiple alliances. Wouldn't do much. There's not much to be gained by limiting player's freedom of movement. As always, the solution remains to make the game more engaging and less draining for new players.
