  1. Hello Orbis, My name is BigMorf, and I'm still a relative newcomer to this game. I'm a member of TKR, and I've been low gov in FA for a while now. If I haven't met you yet, hello! For a while now, I've been wanting a particular kind of content here in Orbis. A platform where I could go and hear multiple perspectives on issues in Politics and War. But I couldn't find this particular content, so I decided why not do it myself? And here we are. I'm happy to announce that Morf Radio is here. What is Morf Radio you ask? Let me expalin. Morf Radio will be a one hour semi regular radio show that will feature a panel of representatives from the five major spheres of Orbis. Each show will be a facilitated conversation between these different representatives on different topics. I'm happy to announce that our first show will be this week on Thursday at 10PM EST. (Note: The time will change with every show based on availability of guests). There will be a recording every week so that if you can't make the show you can catch up. The first show will feature the following guests: @Wizel16 for Quack, @Leftbehind for HedgeMoney, @Redarmy for Roselot, @Vice for Oasis, and @RightHonorablefor Swamp. The first show will primarily be a focus on the NAP and how the NAP has effected Orbis politics. If we time allows, we will also take questions from the audience. The show will occur on Morf Radio We'll see you Thursday! ^ join the discord.

  2. It's a slow news day for PnW so instead of trolling #theBalkans on RON, I'm here to at least try to provide some service to the community. This may turn into a multi-part series of threads but we'll see how this first one goes. Firstly, hi. I've been government in many alliances across multiple games at this point. I'm young irl but old in nationsims. This genre of game is, masochistically, one of my favorite things to spend my bored-time on. To that end, I see a lot of "veteran" governments - even in some major alliances - make some odd choices with their alliance(s). So while it's slow I thought we could do a seminar of sorts - have people weigh in their thoughts, members and leaders alike, regarding various arbitrary categories that I'm going to make up on the fly. I'm going to break things down in a traditional sense to make this a little more organized and a little less rambling. I. Alliances Overview: Culture, fluff, and governance. Let's start from the beginning. I'm sure any person active and bored enough has thought about forming their own alliance at one point or another. "I can do it better" we've all thought. In many cases this has proven true - PnW is a lush landscape of new-born alliances in their first or second year of life playing with the veteran teams in the Big Game. In many cases this turns into a bit odd. There is no winning formula for how to run your alliance, but there is a place to begin. A. Alliance Culture is the keystone which holds everything together. It's a nebulous term but it's probably the most important factor in a given alliance when determining success or failure - and again, there is no superior form. Some alliances are mass-recruiting academies which foster the newbies and tend to them like a careful garden. Some alliances throw you to the wolves and have you sink or swim on your own. Some alliances expect a minimum level of game knowledge and nation growth in order to get your foot in the door. Each way has its own drawbacks and benefits - each one feeds into the ecosystem of alliances in the game. However, culture isn't simply how your alliance is set up. It manifests itself in many ways such as how members interact with each other, how the alliance interacts with other alliances, and how the alliance ultimately survives. Every successful alliance has a few core pieces to their culture which separate the "here for a year" alliances and the veteran groups. Things like resilience in the face of hardships like losing a war, a healthy separation of IC/OOC, and a mutual respect for each other both between members and between government and base members. Things like these prevent common problems we see in a lot of failed micros, but also quite a few failed majors over the years. B. Fluff is what I'm going to call "everything else in your alliance." It's not technically necessary to have fluff - not everyone cares about a .jpeg medal after a war, for example. Not every alliance wants to codify a charter. However, it is the combination of all these fluff items that often give character and content to an alliance. Medals, personalized flags, changing your discord server into a holiday theme, polls for proles, raiding leaderboards, graphs and statistics, etc. Basically fluff is what most would call additional content within an alliance. If you've ever been in a place that lacks fluff, you can tell. It's boring, uninteresting, and often you find yourself logging in once every few days just to check the #announcements channel and then check out again. The fluff may seem unimportant when viewed as individual random additions, but when you have a good core of additional content for members it really makes that difference between a community and just an alliance in that one nationsim I kind of play. C. Governance is the last item I list here, as it might be arguably the least important or the most important depending where you're sitting. For many, and I mean many, I'm not sure if the alliance would be different without any government at all. You know the ones I'm talking about. To be fair, being a leader isn't easy. Even in a nationsim game. The more members you have, the more likely that someone will disagree with your choices. The onus falls on you oftentimes to make up for a member's mistake(s), to moderate in uncomfortable situations, and to make hard decisions - or sometimes take your hands off something entirely. A lot of alliances out there hold a different philosophy on leadership and what being in an alliance means. Some would rather members mostly take care of themselves, some would prefer to run the entire alliance through one person, and plenty of in-between. The choice often comes from who you think would do the job better - each person with their own nation or you as their communist overseer. The only real advice any leader can give is that it depends on the situation, the people, and how well you listen to the people you're responsible for. It's a cliché but communication really is key. Another piece I see is the common mistake of the leader that feels they have to do it all and then burn out after a couple months. One of the most important jobs in any government position, leader or minister, is to groom your replacement and surround yourself with a competent team that can share the workload. I'm slowing down a bit and this is already a lot of text. I'll leave it here and if people seem interested I'll do other parts where I'll cover more specifically into different departments of running alliances and how to nurture a second generation even from sub-par recruits (or try to).

  3. Today, on the 6th of April, 2021, under the leadership of President Jayren Gallec, the United Vanguard Confederation hereby declared itself a sovereign and independent alliance. As of right now, we have a pending Protectorate treaty with The Armed Peacekeepers. I am looking for players with experience to enter the ranks of the UVC Executive Council, the ruling body of the Confederation. Discord link is in the description, so you can tell me what position you want to apply for.

  5. I guess we will all just overlook that you tried to get Swamp to hit Rose so you could flatten HM and TCW. But dog piles are only ok when your side can orchestrate it. Interesting that you combined Rose and HM together in those stats as well. For the record, the game isn't called War and War, its called Politics and War. You use politics to help you win wars...

  6. Hey man, far be it from me to tell you what to do and I don't want to be a debbie downer, but you should really have thought a bit harder about this venture. 1. It seems that you hadn't even graduated from a training alliance before starting your own alliance 2. It's not an alliance if it's only you who is in it 3. You've made a DOE before your alliance is actually set up So let's think about this logically, why would someone experienced in the game want to work under someone who is less experienced than them? Why would TFP want to protect an alliance led by someone incapable of completing their own training? If I were you I'd go back to the drawing board on this one, get some experience in an alliance, work your way up to gov, make friends along the way, and then launch an alliance when you actually have allies. I wrote this with the best of intentions, and I wish you the best of luck.

  7. TAP doesn’t do treaties. We are essentially TFP and do not operate independently. We sometimes drunk dial the mortals which is why they have a treaty with us. Good luck on your alliance Jayren.

  8. 1. You need a better flag and i can deliver that 2. TAP (The Armed Peacekeepers) is not an alliance you want as a protector, for the fact that they are not an actual alliance but rather an extension of the alliance The Fighting Pacifists. You may want to consult with them about the treaty lol. Good Luck

  25. On this day, April 1st, Eastasia declares its existence, as well as a state of perpetual war with Oceania and Eurasia. Our agents have been working tirelessly to undermine Oceania for nearly a year now. Tugger Goldstein has decided that now is the time to take official action. Death will soon come to Oceania and Eurasia! https://politicsandwar.com/alliance/id=8391 https://politicsandwar.com/alliance/id=7527 https://politicsandwar.com/alliance/id=8313

  30. Friends, Alliancemen, Chocolatiers, lend me your ears! For too long have we suffered under the restrictive and repressive tactics of the chocolate elite! For too long has leadership not spared thought or pain for those too poor to afford premium Swiss chocolate and had to make do with cheap and heretical Hershey's. This must end now! I, formerly Princess Psweet, hereby proclaim the founding of the First Chocolate Republic, beholden to the people, founded in the belief in the inalienable rights of all to life, liberty, and the pursuit of chocolate. I appoint @Adrienne the position of chairwoman of the Interim Assembly, to hold power no longer than is necessary to conclude a just, fair, and free election in which all chocolate loving castle denizens may vote for their leaders. I implore patriotic citizens everywhere to do their duty. Vote early! Vote often! And vote Psweet!

  33. I never really knew you and we found ourselves on opposite sides in this conflict but I hate to see active players leave a small community like this. I've had my struggles with mental health in the past, and I know how much it can suck, particularly when a game like this is pressurising you. Good luck in whatever rl brings you, and I hope to see you back some day, hopefully under happier circumstances.

  34. European Union On this day of March 22,2021 we declare our existence as an alliance in politics and war server. The European Union was founded on January 25,2021. Our alliance government type was democracy which we elect a prime minister to run our alliance. We are a peaceful alliance and not seeking for wars. We have been protected by the black skies formerly, but now we are under the protectorate of Camelot. Our alliance was hoping a good relation to all alliances in politics and war games. Long Live with all of us!!! Greetings from the EU family.

  41. With peace in our time the people in Black Skies have been getting restless. It's been almost 100 days since our last dog-pile. With people getting agitated with the doldrum of building cities, making friends via FA and "growing" we've decided that enough was enough. We're tired of the nonsense and we won't stand for it anymore! Black Skies declares war on Black Skies! We plan on losing this war to the far superior Black Skies. Once they 0 us and wipe our infrastructure to near impossible rebuild levels we'll call for a white peace. I'll then laugh and tell Black Skies to disband or pay $10B a day which, they won't appreciate. After 2 weeks of war we hope to resolve this. Just in time for the global. We will be calling in our allies, Black Skies, Black Skies, Black Skies and Black Skies to take out Black Skies in a 5 v 1. To Alan - Your time of leading your alliance has been too long. People are upset that Black Skies hasn't lasted only 2 weeks like people thought. I for one am sick of it. Alan must step down as leader, or at the very least, admit that Black Skies is far more superior than Black Skies.
