  2. Turn the leaderboards page into a full-length leaderboard. Display all nations. Chances are, if you play this game, you enjoy watching numbers on a screen move up or down. You might be into spreadsheets. There are thousands of players yet the leaderboards only show the top ten players in each category. I assume the data exists and simply needs to be displayed. I think this would be a huge QoL update for anyone interested in being competitive and seeing where they rank in the various categories.

  7. The Sparrow migrates by night, setting its compass to the Earth's magnetic pole and listening to the calls of its friends and compatriots to guide it home. The North Western South Region of the Far East and The Greater Unitary Republic have kept up a longstanding and friendly relationship over the course of many months. Though we've found ourselves on opposing sides more than once, we at TGUR have always found them to be professional, courteous, and friendly people. Today, I'm proud to announce that TGUR and Compass have, over the course of much discussion, come to an agreement to make our friendship official in the form of an MDoAP treaty. Here's to a coming and prosperous age! -Thompson798, Chief of Staff, The Greater Unitary Republic The Sparrow Accord Tristen [Discord13 (fooper)] Big Boss The North Western South Region of the Far East Pegleg of Velorum President Greater Unitary Republic Section I: Treaty Type The Treaty between TGUR and NWSRotFE shall be a standard Mutual Defense/Optional Aggression pact with stipulations for military action and encouragement for profitable trade. Section II: Terms Subsection A: Standard Terms 72 Hour Withdrawal Notice: If either Party wishes to terminate the Treaty, they must provide a written notice 72 hours in advance. Minimum Obligation Period: Both Parties must uphold the Treaty for no less than thirty (30) days before withdrawal can be invoked. If either party cuts ties with the current bloc, Oasis, the treaty shall be deemed an ODoAP and may be canceled by the other party without notice. Subsection B: Military Defense Clause Should either party be attacked by a force too great for them to handle alone (decided upon by analysis from both their War Department and Leader), they may call for the aid of the other party. That other party is obligated to come to the defense of the former, in the form of counters against the attacking force, economic aid in the form of granted money or resources for military buildup and infrastructure repair, and/or aid in diplomatic negotiations. Should Party A be the aggressor in a fight which they cannot win, unless Party B agreed to be a part of the conflict beforehand, Party B is not under obligation to come to their aid. An aggressor is not necessarily defined as the first person to pull the trigger, but rather the antagonist. Subsection 😄 Prosperous Trade Encouragement Both parties will work towards the betterment of each other through the prosperous and profitable exchange of resources and information. The exact form of this relationship may be worked out by the Trade/Treasury departments of both parties at any time, and does not require an amendment of this treaty. Subsection 😧 Amendment Clause Should either party come to the conclusion that a change or amendment is required, they may approach the other party with the proposed change. A 72-hour review period will take place to determine whether a change is required. Both parties must agree without coercion on any change which is to take place. Once any part of the treaty is amended, it is to stand for at least 7 days before any part is to be amended again. Section III: Penalties Should any section of the Treaty be broken by either Party, the offending Party willingly forfeits their right to Protection and willingly engages in an act that could provoke retaliatory action. Section IV: History and Sponsorship Drafted by Chief of Staff Thompson798 on January 10, 2021. Signed by Big Boss of Compass Tristen on January 13th, 2021 Signed by President of The Greater Unitary Republic Pegleg on January 14th, 2021

  9. I've spoken to rienne, that's just ludicrous. E404 wasn't even close to being in the top 3 with the peoples vote, and they're suddenly 'winners'. I agree it shouldn't be strictly popular vote, but if you can take nearly last place and make them the winner, that system is more flawed than popular vote.

  11. So I like awards, in that they give recognition to people who were overlooked. I wish it was something like the Oscars, where most of the winners were things nobody ever heard of. At worst, it's like the Grammys, where the awards just recognize meh songs with the most playtime. Most of the time, the pnw awards ends up just a propaganda campaign. I wish it was a popularity contest. But this year has been much better than the past years, closer to the Grammys. Democracy is reallly not a good way to do this, because most people are just not paying attention most of the time. The average person looks at those sexy ads and flags and don't even know who made them. They'll know stuff within their alliance, and stuff the alliance talks about, but not much more. Open nominations are great because they bring up stuff everyone overlooks. Especially if it's like obscure, like best propaganda post. I don't really see the point if the best nominations are getting filtered out, but I doubt they'd win in a democracy anyway. So like I think the best way to get quality, Oscar-style awards is for a small panel to do it. Maybe even the same panel who brought you these awards. Votes here are kinda rushed, like everyone thinks for 10 seconds who should win, and then votes. And so you'll end up with like t$ winning best econ. When a small panel might have like 5 min to think about it, and discuss things like who got the most growth, or does banking and retention better, or little things like raid efficiency. Like when someone wins an award, it should be clear why they did.

  13. It is with great sadness that I have to inform of the most recent death to the Orbis community. About a month or two ago a member of Terminus Est's high gov, Stavros Cassadine, told us that he had been diagnosed with cancer. In addition to this, he was also battling a heart condition. Recently, his condition severely worsened and he had to go through multiple surgeries, all of which had complications. Nonetheless, like the fighter I knew he was, he came through these operations and just before Christmas came off the ventilator. However, while recovering post-op, he caught Covid-19. This unfortunately he did not survive from. He was a fantastic face to have around our discord and was a great friend to myself and others. I know that all those who knew him will agree with me that he will be missed dearly within our community. Rest in peace Stav. https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=214086 (For your information there is a family member on his account which is the reason he may drift in and out of activity)

  27. "rigged" "cherry-picking" "lip service" "biased" "abuse" "shafted" There's valid criticism, which I have acknowledged you do include in your posts and have considered and reflected on in my posts, all which you've so casually dismissed as being nothing other than lip service. And then there's being deliberately rude and inflammatory because you're angry, which you seem to greatly enjoy doing in your posts with no acknowledgement or recognition of the sheer time and effort that goes into running any of this. And you wonder why I react the way I do? We did not have to spend two months of our lives planning and organizing these awards and I've had zero issue engaging with anyone else's criticisms besides your own. I initially engaged you to try and talk to you and get your perspective and have been consistently met with little more than derision. It's not narcissistic to want to be treated with basic respect. You might want to reflect on your posts and ask yourself what makes your posts so different than the others I've also been engaging with. I'll avoid responding to you further so as not to further derail what has been a very productive discussion, your posts included when you're not busy making jabs.

  31. Dwight Shrute runs an organization where it's members allows different members of government to screw them over. Dwight Schrute also then plays games and tries to buy and sell alliances (even willing to sell it to someone that will destroy the very thing it is). Dwight Schrute, through manipulation and being a sly dog, almost gets away with the whole thing until a strong female stands up and outs him for who he is. Please explain to me how he's not Peter.....

  34. Bigger numbers takes up longer space though and could potentially break the UI in some places. I was thinking this is the most reasonable answer as well, but I imagine we'll get a lot of confused bug reports like "I'm supposed to be making coal but it didn't increase this turn at all" when in reality it did, it just wasn't reflected because of rounding. So, somewhere we would need to display the true values anyway. I think the best/easiest solution to this (which I don't think is really an issue) would be to just give players an option to show rounded amounts rather than true values in their resource inventory bar. I also agree that not having decimals would be better all around, but it would be a huge pain in the butt to try to change that all now.

  36. It seems a bit limiting right now that the only thing to be gained in war is money loot (except for when the war finishes), and the only thing destroyed is infrastructure. When declaring war, another combobox should be shown to the user: "resource target" (default to random entry). A war of attrition will simply destroy the resource in attacks, an Ordinary War will destroy and steal the resource, and a Raid will 75% steal, 25% destroy. Possible consequences of this change: In global wars, in wars of attrition people will likely choose to attack steel, uranium, or munitions, causing the demand to go much higher (a bit more interesting!). Pirates may target specific resources from target nations.

  38. One Orbis year ago there was a plane crash. A Boeing 747 packed to the brim with people crash landed off the shores of Brazil. There were luckily only a handful of casualties but the landing was so abrupt that the entire crew and passengers were injured and brain damaged. No one knew who they were, where they were or what had happened involving the wreckage and burning debris... Aside from clothing and regular luggage, all that survived were several LPs and a turntable. One such LP was the self-titled Dire Straits album, with a song so great that they named their encampment after it and made it their anthem. As such, the Sultanate of Swing was born. Given that everyone in the encampment had amnesia, they had to decide names for themselves. It was an easy fix though, for they could choose their names based on their favourite albums. A leader had soon emerged, a woman by the name of Kate Bush, and she had decided that Queen would be a fitting title given everyone's love for the anthemic Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen Kate Bush had appointed David Bowie to be her chief strategist and organise the gaining of supplies and she sent off some other strong figures to build other encampments in the vicinity. Led Zeppelin founded the first of such colonies and named it Led Zeppelin II. Shortly afterwards, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar went and founded My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and To Pimp a Butterfly respectively. They were soon followed by Queen Kate Bush founding a settlement of her own by the name of Hounds of Love and Alex Cameron founding Jumping the Shark. These settlements worked together to build weapons and small armies to acquire food and provisions from other hostile parties, most of whom were pretty much abandoned already and would seldom fight back. The Sultanate of Swing began investing in spies to look for food and protect the interests of the various settlements which were growing rapidly as the other abandoned towns and villages flocked in to enjoy the music and growth offered by the Sultanate. They soon after began exploiting the land for minerals such as lead which they could exchange for food from other established nations and settlements. One year on, the population of the Sultanate of Swing has reached over 500,000 and growth doesn't seem likely to stop anytime soon. https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=255984

  39. Could we please, please have an update to choose what Cities we should apply the template to? At least then I can stop having to maintain another script <.< Given that we get resource production bonuses for specialising production within a city, the idea of having a single Econ template for all your cities is not an optimal solution. Being able to more easily utilise those production bonuses and specialise some cities for Food, others for Oil, others for Gasoline, etc might make for more varied Nation setups.
