  1. Inspired by this discussion, I'm starting this separate thread to draw more awareness to this issue. We're all aware that treasure trading via war has been banned by rules for a while now. A trading system was announced to take its place, but considering there has been no movement on this since the day treasure trading was rendered illegal a few months ago, I believe this should be put to consideration again and added to the docket for the next update. Here is my suggestion: Personal trade offers for buying and selling treasures. - Nation to nation treasure offers. One side receives the money, the other receives the treasure. Standard trade offer stuff, just like for the resources. - 5 day cooldown on treasure movement. For obvious purposes of preventing playing hot potatoes with treasures. - If the treasure bearer is blockaded, the treasure can not be traded. Self-explanatory. - Cap the amount of treasures one nation can hold to 2. Make treasure buying unavailable to nations that already hold one treasure. To prevent biggest/richest nations from hoarding all the treasures. The nation should not be able to buy a treasure if they already have one. If y'all think of something else this system would need, throw it in the comments below.

  4. With the recent firestorm of beige under some form of control I'm shifting some focus towards content that was being discussed in the earlier part of this summer. Quality of Life Changes: Alliances have the ability to create up to 8 alliance positions, 5 more than the default 3. All alliance roles will come with a check list for which powers those positions have. Bank Access Changing Roles Ability to see spy counts Ability to see daily reset timers (time zones) Editing Tax Brackets Accept new members View member caches Notification when a war expires Alliance Trades offers also show in the global trades. These trades will show in a different color Alliance tax brackets can be changed in bulk (multiple members added at once) Alliance leaders (with appropriate access levels) can see the time zones for members. Ability to sort members/applicants by “Last online”. Move expired treaties to an “Archived” tab. Treaties can be extended rather than deleted and resent. Allow for alliances to issue embargoes for other alliances. The embargoes auto activate but give a notification to the member with the option to remove the embargo. Add a mass buy feature to Land, similar to Infra. Added Allow players to send direct trades of resource for resource New Domestic Policy: Rapid Expansion - 5% discount to land purchased - Added Additional Project Slots: At 50 wars won At 50 total won or lost, gain a project slot At 200 wars won At 200 wars total won or lost, gain a project slot At 100 wars total won and/or lost, gain a project slot. Raw Resource Project increase: Coal, Oil, Uranium, Bauxite, Iron, Lead production rates increased from .25 per turn to .30 per turn, giving a total increase of 3.0 per day to 3.6 per day. Production is increase by about 16.7% without factoring in the bonuses from multiple mines. Having max mines would net an additional 8.3% ish increase. New Project: Terra-forming Money: $3,000,000 Coal: 1,500 Lead: 1,500 Effect: Reduction in cost of purchasing land by 5% Note: Costs similar to CCE project New Project: Medical Breakthroughs Medical Research Center Money: $10,000,000 Food: 100,000 Effect: Hospitals disease reduction increased from 2.5% to 3.5% each. You can build an additional hospital in each city. Note: Costs similar to Recycling Initiative project. This project is more focused to tie into future changes. While it might not seem very relevant now it will have more importance in the future. New Project: Specialized Police Training National Policing Academy Money: $10,000,000 Food: 100,000 Effect: Police Stations crime reduction increased from 2.5% to 3.5% each. You can buy an additional police station in each city. Cost of each police station is increased from $750 to $1000. Note: Costs similar to Recycling Initiative project. This project is more focused to tie into future changes. While it might not seem very relevant now it will have more importance in the future. New Project: Advanced Engineering Center Requirements: Center for Civil Engineering, Terra-forming Money: $50,000,000 Gasoline: 10,000 Munitions: 10,000 Uranium: 1,000 Effect: Reduces Infra Costs and Land Costs by 5% All projects added.   7. Hey yall, Dropping in to say goodbye. Guess I am really sentimental oops. It really has been 4 years since I created this nation O_o. Time has flew by and this community has watched me grow throughout high school. I am really thankful for yall for dealing with my shenanigans and helping me be better at life. Some special shout outs, would be longer if I didn't have to go soon :c ESD/WeyYu: First, @Mad Max @Harbinger and @Tali, thanks for the time at ESD. I know we have not talked much recently but yall brought me into PnW. This is really sad but the voice chats w yall where I would just sit there on mute were some of the happier moments that year haha. So thank you :)) Dealing with me during the dumbest period of my life must been a lot GoG: @Seeker I don't know if you will ever read this but I am grateful that you had so much trust in me to not just run IA, but to retheme and rename your entire alliance after it fell apart from a coup and a war. I know I disappointed you towards the end of my term with school and the other stuff :c hope you can forgive me. The entire GoG (I will unVM myself and beat you up if I hear GotG) community has been super supportive and amazing. Always giving me a place I can call home and do stupid stuff in. Folks at Arrgh, TKR, KT, and CoTL (wow I ghosted a lot) that let me be apart of yall for wars, thank you. It has been a pleasure meeting everyone from around the world. Don't stop being awesome and stabbing people 😆 The sea will always have a special place in my heart. Carthago: Lastly and definitely not least, @Daveth and Carthago gov, thanks for the chance at redemption. It has been really fun to find a home again. Yall have been an amazing gang to write code for and yell DIE DIE DIE with (a little disappointed we never got to blitz together :(() I hope I can still pop by now and then to finish the projects (😉 Carthagowned coming to you in 2020, and yes I am gna keep updating that even in VM). I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to spend my final few months with. Keep thriving, I expect to see you in the #1 spot when I check back in in a few years. That list is definitely way too short to serve justice to all the people I've known well and talked to in PnW. Yall have helped me in more ways than you would think, I wouldn't be where I am irl without this nationsim, as dumb as that sounds.   8. Currently, bounties are not delivered if the nation that completes a bounty is under blockade. This effectively nullifies the usefulness of bounty as a mechanic, since people who are likely to bounty hunt (raiders) often find themselves under blockade. Thus, I propose that nations completing bounties should get the money anyway (regardless of whether they are under blockade or not).

  10. Except when Alex banned treasure transfers through predetermined wars he also said he would implement a feature to buy and sell them since he took away a key game mechanic that was used. We have been waiting months now for this feature that Alex promised us.

  20. Small QoL thought. remove the “alliance description” from any tab on the alliance page other than the main page. Especially on mobile, it’s an extra hurdle and probably extra load time to scroll past it.

DISCLAIMER: All images you see here in this thread are concepts - which means that these are ideas and are currently not slated to be put to use. -------------------------------------------------------- Purpose: To develop concepts, brainstorm ideas, and create mock-ups to aid in the modernization of the Politics & War sites and pages. We have the intention to work towards a great looking site that keeps the site simplified, modern, and aid in player retention. Status: Currently, the PW Design Team is charged with developing concepts for the Politics & War landing page - Home - for current and new players. The idea is to give new players an idea of what Politics & War is all about, provide ease of access, and house social media and discord. We also would like to include current game stats that you currently find on that page, but in a more organized unique way. Challenges: The challenges that we currently have stem from the community and the site itself. From the community, the design/aesthetic changes that we wish to implement tend to turn into more mechanic and technical requests. Additionally, community members don't understand that ideas/concepts posted will not be a perfect and absolute representation to what would be put in the game. (see disclaimer above.) From the site; we need to make small changes to start due to the site build. The changes we are making will stack to an endpoint of a great game - please understand you won't wake up one day and see a completely changed site. With all that being said, I will share with you some concepts for registration/login as well as some ideas for the Politics & War discord server icon and server banner. Registration/Login: Concept: Instead of having new users and users logging in go to a separate page to login or setup their nation, they are met with a popup form. We've compiled all information a new user would see in one simple form. Your login would look similar to this popup only including your username/password fields and any pertinent information. You can also see that the site page itself changed to decrease the white factor and opacity. Landing Page Concept: This is our first concept for the landing page. It utilizes what users already see on the landing page; registration, login, android app, nation stats, and discord. We have formatted the page to read better, better organization, and included all social media profiles. Again, decreased opacity to create a cleaner and darker look. Landing Page 2 (Rough Concept) Concept: Create a landing page that houses information about the game while the user scrolls down they will get a better idea of what this game has to offer. We start out with a Politics & War trailer/video and move on to information sections. Note: these information boxes are extremely primitive - these would be built a lot better if this concept was given the greenlight. In addition, we wanted to provide a site-wide menu that stood out from the background. Again, please take note of the disclaimer at the top of this post. Clean Version of Concept Above: Concept: Working within current site environment - maybe previous concepts were pushing too far. This concept would utilize boxes that we all know in the war environment. Would work to be responsive to your screens and provide some valuable information for new users coming to the site. The footer can hold more than just social icons, discord can be there as well as further information about the site that is in the current footer. Also, changed Laurel to original PW laurel at Alex's request for the logo. PW Server Banner Concept: We wanted to create a modern-looking, clean server banner for the discord server. Nothing too special about this concept, just shows a world map connected with a flat logo created for the discord. 4 Discord Server Icons Concepts: 1. Simplistic modern design. Text in server icons can be a bit off - this just holds the laurel with the known pw colors. 2. Remake of the current PW server icon. Holds a new PW design with laurel in background. 3. Remake of the current PW server icon. Holds a new PW design with laurel in background on a darker foundation. 4. Redesign of icon - white PW in the center with inverted red to blue laurel. Note: Alex prefers we use the current laurel in the game, so if any of these icons are going to be used the new laurel will be used going forward. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you interested in joining the PW Design Team? As team leader, I could use a few more designers to assist with concepts. Even if you do not have the applications to design or are not much of a designer yourself, conveying the idea from your brain to me can get the job done.   31. Not really a valid argument. If you let someone with 0 mil beige you its because you are sitting on them and deliberately not beiging yourself (or just plain incompetence) - now that you mention it might actually be a good way of encouraging people to finish wars like they are intended. Anyway, I think this is a reasonable suggestion given the introduction of project + comparatively to the amount of infra that can be destroyed more efficiently via air/ships.

  34. Well, the reason that blockades block bounties was implemented because otherwise bounties become a way to circumvent blockades, at least in terms of cash. You're 100% right though: fulfilling the bounty contract and then just being denied the money entirely is stupid and does indeed make bounties nigh uncollectable outside of a major, and expensive, war scenario. Thus, to address both of these things at once, bounties should really be put into a phantom escrow account that automatically deposits all bounty earnings into the bounty hunters' nation as soon as they're out of blockade. Win/win

  38. If you want to root out systemic racism, and violence, you have to look to the roots and not just the symptoms. Inequality, economic repression, and an overwhelming strain of racism in the US is the cause of all of this - and it results in a lack of representation. The US looks like South Africa did in the 80s, and these issues are simply not present in first world nations. I am all for law and order, but for it to be sustainable, it must be just. BLM and ANTIFA are a reaction to something, not unlike the American Revolution was a reaction to something. It is also ironic that the 2nd amendment in the US (ie right to shoot your neighbours) was meant to deter a British invasion or to prevent a tyrant from seizing power - yet all the hardcore gun nuts today are supporting a guy who is eroding the few freedoms Americans enjoy. Rather than represent the people contained within the US borders, he is representing a loud, violent, racist, dogmatic, and highly intolerant armed minority. If the US has another civil war, and I am certain it will one day, it will be to throw out democracy in favour of empire - may as well cut your teeth now, because Americans will have become the very oppressors whose yoke they threw off in their revolution.   39. Not trying to start something here, so I'm just going to clarify. I made no judgement on the character of Dwight or his alliance. I experienced the same events as y'all, and I have opinions. Frankly though, my comment had nothing to do with SF rather it had to do with Rose. This is now the second time that Rose has countered for an ally in an unenviable position where they probably could've gotten away with not helping out. First with the KT hit that GGFU didn't counter and now this. To me, that shows a bit of consistency in principle, and that's what I was appreciating. It's a viewpoint that I share: you sign treaties then you reasonably honor them. That's all I was saying as a fellow adherent of the honourgland.

  43. I just woke up, @Prefontaine, so bear with. Just a random thought that jumped into my head....let's call it a 'Project Stack'. Instead of adding project slots due to wars won, have the game system 'stack' the associated planners in 1 slot, instead of 2 or 3. Examples: If a player buys all 3 satellite projects, the game could 'stack' the 3 Satellite Projects in 1 slot. The player will be 'rewarded' with 2 extra slots for having 'collected' all the satellite projects. Same-same with the Civil Engineering, Advanced Civil Engineering, and Terra-Forming Projects - all would be 'stacked' in 1 slot, opening 2 extra slots. Same-same for City Planner and Advanced City Planner - both 'stacked' in 1 slot, opens 1 extra slot. Selling a project that's part of a 'stack' of 3 or more projects, a player would need an extra slot or slots open for the remaining project(s) to 'unstack' into separate slots again, due to the loss of the 'stacking bonus' involving the extra project slot or slots. I don't see how wars won equate with project slots....seems that's kinda like a 'random' idea. Project slots equate with number of cities and infra, even though I have the 200 wars won. Good ideas from you an' the rest of the Orbis Think-Tank herd!
