  1. Some of you may remember an alliance here last year that called themselves “The Coal Mines” led by Nokia Rokia. “What ever happened to them?” you may find yourself wondering. They picked a fight with The Immortals in 2019, and promptly disbanded, before a peace could be brokered – a sad day for coal enthusiasts everywhere. But, in a long list of crazy shit to happen in 2020, they have re-emerged from their collapse, with hopes of a better outcome. Sadly, however, there has not been enough oxygen down in the mines this iteration either, and it’s affecting their decision making once again. So let’s get the rest of Orbis up to speed on what our friends in the mines have been up to. Last week, their second in command Shadow aka Antman aka DarknessIncarnate, decided to ghost his post in TCM and raid multiple people in the Swamp, among other alliances – with the intention of causing as much damage as possible. Yet, with open wars still ongoing with The Immortals and others, Shadow rejoined TCM – and leader Nokia leaves to Weebunism – leaving Shadow as leader in-game. Well, The Immortals counter that open raid, as would anybody else, and promptly had the counters illegitimately countered. Then those bad wars were countered and so on and so forth. With no desire or need for further escalation, especially to TCM members who are caught up in this tomfoolery, peace negotiations began shortly that same day. All parties on each side acknowledged Shadow and TCM’s actions were in the wrong and a peace was negotiated. “Splendid!” one might say. But sadly all wars were not peaced as promised. No… wrought with anger and frustration from looking foolish, Shadow wasn’t going to go down like that. Shadow launched a nuke on a Fark nation hours after the peace he accepted was in effect, causing expensive damage. When asked hours later the next day “hey, what the hell?” minutes after such inquiry, a missile was sent to the same Fark target (who hadn’t attacked at all again mind you) ending that war and looting the nation and Fark’s alliance bank. Shadow knew hell was about to rain down on his nation, so he readied his troops and…. wait, what’s that? Oh nevermind, he zeroed everything, sold infra down to 0.01 in every city and deposited everything he had, including the spoils from his Fark loot, into the TCM bank and exited his position as government claiming he was quitting the game. Okay, see you in re-roll bud. Seems Shadow/TCM did not wish to honor the peace arrangement afterall, but Shadow is no longer government, so the next step is to talk to the new leadership, which is Nokia once again – THE KING RETURNS! Surely he would return the stolen loot from Fark and make amends for the violation of the peace treaty – a simple request really. No reps from TCM are requested, just Shadow’s deposit and we all walk away. But Nokia not only denies the request, but threatens nukes and months of war as a response – and readies TCM with war tactics – all while admitting “we are not in the right. Quite the opposite” – but he does not want someone to “push us around”. Apparently damaging somebody else’s property and expecting that person to pay for said damage is pushing folks around. Rather than not condone what Shadow did and make things right, it seems TCM gov’t wishes to take ownership of Shadow’s actions. Based on these series of actions, it is concluded that The Coal Mines have purposely and unapologetically voided the terms of the peace deal and Swamp now acknowledges and will finish the war they brought to us. Any members that exit TCM now will not be pursued – you shouldn’t have to be burned down because of incompetent leadership. -THE SWAMP

  2. I've finally gotten the go ahead to created a player based development team. This will be a small group of players lead by me which have a separate channel in the Politics and War discord to discuss game development. There will also be an observer. The point of the observer is to provide public updates of the game dev group is working on, though I will still give my regular monthly updates. The observer will be required to clear their public reports through me first, just incase there is a feature Alex doesn't want to be public knowledge too early. Since this position will operating on discord, to apply contact me on discord. My user name is Prefontaine#5550.

  12. I feel like there are quite a few nations out there with great / hilarious themes that get largely no recognition. I'm sure I'm missing quite a few myself. Share what your nation theme is and drop a link for us to check it out if you've decked it out enough. https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=60967 Mine is obviously pirate-themed with a twist from the Princess Bride. Let me know what yours is!

  13. Do you suck at Politics and War? Are you tired of getting whipped every time you finally get that sweet infrastructure? Do you get triggered when other players are minding their own business? Well I have the strat for you with these simple steps! - Have no life - Kiss the admins ass - Search around for the slightest bit of sus activity - Screenshot - Open forum.politicsandwar.com - Make post & ping Alex And the best part is, it will never be Nerfed! ———————————— I think we can all agree this game is slowly becoming worse but a lot of us can’t just leave or do anything about it due to the time we’ve invested into it. (Even though a few veteran players have already left) It’s kinda stupid how this game’s community has very little importance to it’s owner when we as a whole make up most of the damn thing. The community has used it’s imagination to create many different variables towards the game’s Depth. Things such as Global Wars and NAP’s, Functional Government Positions & applications, Businesses, Banks, Etc. Without that the game is basically an Idle Clicker So yeah, not Poggers. Impulsively changing the rules and handing out strikes doesn’t fix anything. (I am happy my Friend Ironfist got his strike removed, thank you for that. And Sidd too, can’t forget Sidd)

  18. Your odd offhand baseless comments about CotL has given us and other spheres material to bond over. Watching you post is similar to watching YouTube videos of crazy people doing odd things that make them look silly. You are a conversation piece. On one hand, thank you for the content. On the other hand, you should probably reflect more on the things you post before you hit ‘submit reply’ (for your own benefit)

  20. Mine has a Japanese theme. I've come up with the names of the cities myself (some of them being fairly obvious and some of them not so) and even thought of characters to go along with those names which I put into the factbook of my nation. I do have to say though that sometimes I realized afterwards that some of the place names actually exist in reality. 🤔 https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=68405

  31. Without beige, there needs to be a way to rebuild units without them being killed in large numbers. Active duty military: Function just like your current military units do. Reserve Military: Each day you can buy your normal daily buy of military (bonus from PB project as well). When they're bought they default get put into your military reserve. While in your military reserve they cannot be killed from military attacks on your nation unless the improvement which houses them is destroyed. If you destroy an improvement which houses units, the number of units lost is equal to the % of total military you have that can be stored in there. If you're at 100% military in reserve and active status you lose 100% of what can go in that improvement (5 ships, 75 planes, etc...). If you're at 50% of your max military in reserve and active you lose 50% of what can be housed in that improvement. So on and so forth. At any time you can move any number of reserve military into active duty. You cannot move from active duty to reserve. Once a unit is active it can only be removed by being lost or decommissioned. Units in reserve status cost less (numbers to be worked out) for upkeep. This predominantly impacts Tanks/Ships/Navy. Soldiers still cost a similar upkeep. Reserve units + Active units <= Max military. That means you can't have more units than your maximum, your total is your reserve plus your active. Points to consider: As most nations will likely be in reserve mode outside of war time, this poses a possible issue. The side going on the first offensive likely won't kill much in the way of units in the opening attacks, since the enemy's military is on reserve. The trade off being is that you instead can virtually guarantee you'll gain at least one superiority on the enemy. Is that a fair enough trade off? How should spy attacks interact with reserve units? I believe they should kill less, the question is how much less?

  33. Sheepy being bad at game design, along with Prefontaine's horrible suggestions and Sheepy deciding to ignore everyone other than him makes me really angry, and I just can't deal with this game anymore. I'll be active just in CotL discord. Other games are far more fun than this, and I thankfully have friends I would rather spend time with than be annoyed over this forum. I meant to put this in Farewells and Goodbyes.

  34. Under the trade screen Bought / Sold search for Credits. There are lots of trades starting at $1 . This bug has been there for a while and still not fixed. For a new player that wants to sell credits and clicks on one of those it will leave a sore taste in their mouth. This is clearly scamming. Please either fix this so that's impossible to do in the future. I don't think anyone wants to sell their credits that they paid for with real money for an ingame $1. Also, perhaps issue warning to the scammers. Thank You.

  36. I read up on it. Red-lining doesn't make sense, because if a bank doesn't want to give someone a loan they don't have to. Then they miss out. No loans=no interest=no profit. There is obviously another reason that you don't see, why would someone not loan out to a man that can pay it back? Now, if said man cannot pay it back then they don't loan to them. To be blunt, there is something other than racism that isn't studied in "red-lining". COINTELPRO was a pretty shitty thing done by the US government. But frick you if you think that it was racist. They attacked the Black Panthers as much as the Ku Klux Klan. They were not justified, but they weren't racist either. They targeted anyone against the government, white or black. The "federally funded crack epidemic" is bs. It was shipped from Columbia by drug traffickers. There is no evidence that the U.S Government backed it in any way shape or form. Ghettos, as I said, are not exclusively black. They are poor. Ghettos have no issue of their own, they have healthcare, education, law enforcement, and elected representatives. If everyone in a "inner city neighborhood" left (and took their graffiti, trash, and drugs with them) it would look like any other part of that city. The issue is the people in that neighborhood, not the neighborhood itself. "Stop-And-Frisk" of minorities I can't provide any evidence against, so I will give you that one. I couldn't find many reliable sources on it and I hear about it a lot so fine, cops check minorities more often. Tbh I don't blame them. The majority of police officers feloniously killed on duty is by black men https://www.fbi.gov/services/cjis/ucr/leoka. I don't think it is justified exactly, but it makes some sense. I do love having these debates by the way.

  44. Hello, I don't have a clever replacement for beige, I'll leave that for people who do. There are a number of good suggestions on the forum. As has been repeatedly pointed out, by...I think yeah, everybody more or less...getting rid of beige completely is silly. What's even more silly is getting rid of it without a replacement. If I need to buy a new computer, and it's going to take 2 weeks for it to arrive, I don't decide to bin my old one. Because then I'd have no computer for two weeks. I can't work with no computer for 2 weeks, I'd lose money; I don't want to be poor. A suitable replacement for beige needs to be found. While we don't have a suitable replacement, beige as is is somewhat better to nothing at all. Right now permarolling is made nice and easy, and Roq and Leo are probably sad they missed it. Let's bring it back until something is worked out that actually fixes the issues that people have been raising for years.
