  4. In response to an incident surrounding a Children of the Light member, Lucari Paopia, who has been implicated in creating a nation then going inactive over lack of interest in the game. In addition, information was supplied that this member also planned on abandoning Children of the Light by going inactive and not applying on our discord, merely ingame. Quoting the holy scripture, "Section 4, Article 11, Ordinance 2(A) //// Inactivity, either against Children of the Light or The Enlightenment, is laziness in the first degree. If we get around to it, bannination will ensue" The following announcement has since been made to the member, the membership of Children of the Light, and the leadership of the aligned Hedge Bloc Alliances: We (CotL government) have been sent screenshots, FULL screenshots regarding this current issue implicating a member, Lucari Paopia, with addition of ones about his "plan" which was meant to be a dead nation he paid no attention to. Additionally, he has been in some shady spots recently, and thus have become kinda shady, an alliance-titled "inactive applicant" and a liability to Children of the Light as a whole. This could have been CotL-wide issue over inactivity, and that's simply unacceptable. We wish him the best, but to quote him in one of the received screenshots, Children of the Light is "just here for my inactive nation to rot in". Due to these reasons, Children of the Light government is hereby effectively terminating him as an applicant, and he will be removed from the Children of the Light Alliance immediately. Signed: Nobody, I'm just doing what the cool kids do and making OWF posts about removing members The Children of the Light Government would also like to thank the community members who cooperated in our investigation into this matter by supplying relevant information and screenshots, helping us to this swift and final decision.

  5. As the recent youtuber found out, there's a regular screen that declares the "server" to be "under heavy load". That's not actually very good language to use. It implies that the servers are actually at that point under unusual strain, which communicates "problem" to someone that doesn't already know what that screen truly means. I'm quite certain that he's not alone in his instant conclusion: "That's only going to get worse". This can only result in one thing: Poor player retention. My suggestion, therefore, is simple: Change the wording and/or imagery of the snore screen to communicate a more positive message of activity and progress, rather than a message of problems and strain. "Server under heavy load"? More like "Please wait while your industries produce resources!" along with a .gif of gears grinding or something. First appearances matter. Let's try and be at least a little less casual with how the single most fundamental mechanic is presented.

  6. As I was taking a walk one night, I tripped and fell into a hole. I was briefly stuck but then I felt something grab my ankle and pull me down. I gasped and screamed but it was all to no avail. I woke up later strapped to a gurney and a mysterious figure enters the room. He introduces himself only as the "Fire Prince". "Where am I", I ask. The Prince gives a sinister grin and says "welcome to wonderland". "Wonderland?", I innocently inquire. "Yea let me show you" he says and whips out a bunch of photos with horrifying images the likes of which I can't even describe (because I would get banned). I tried to shut my eyes but they were stapled open. Hours went by. Finally, when I thought all hope was lost, a sheriff and his deputies charged in. "Put your hands up" they yelled and the prince immediately complied but was "accidentally" shot anyway by a stray bullet. "wtf I had my hands up", he sputtered while coughing up blood. "oops my finger slipped" said one of the deputies in a viking helmet with a smirk. Relieved I exclaimed, "thank you for saving me" but it was short lived as the sheriff announced that we were in Roxchean Confederation territory and were all under arrest for trespassing. As we were hauled away in chains, I turned to the sheriff and asked, "Will I at least get a fair trial"? He turned and said "oh yes of course. In fact, I used to be a judge". Memories began flooding back from a past life and I knew right then and there that life as I knew it was over. tl;dr Wonderland declares it existence and merges with The Roxchean Confederations

  7. The animosity towards the character that Moonshadow/EM/Bjorn played started well before he became a bloated whale. As someone so new to this community, for you to display such confidence in your position on the matter seems rather odd. Then again, Church of Atom has always been pretty out of touch. So perhaps it’s a culture thing.

  9. Hey I got a warn recently for a thread where I said EM was going to sell GATO ingame tech for irl money. Judging by how he just got banned and banned for in-game rule violations/cheating, I believe my comment wasn’t flame baiting or fictional, but factual in that it is not beyond his character. In addition, the warn does not serve any purpose now that he is banned and isn’t a protected forum member (the purpose of having a flame bait clause is now null). @Alex ps: I’ve got 2 warn points that don’t have an expiration date. Thoughts?

  10. Oh no, I'm sure he had some baggage in some corners before that. Everyone does. It's just that comes out in full force when he is the one to pull ahead. People latch on to that and pretend that's why they hate him. The reality is they hated that they didn't have what he had, that's the raw simple reality. That's why Nokia didn't get one one-hundredth of the flak when the two of them got immunity. That's why everyone whines about keno every goddamned waking minute. Because they wish it was them who were in his position. But now the angry idiot masses have nothing more to worry about, as the whale of their envy has been slain. Congrats, peanut gallery, and good luck finding something new to cry about. It will be a relief to stop having to hear people cry about keno, for one thing.

  11. In response to an incident regarding a Fark member, "The Arctic Explorer" who has been implicated in planning a coup of the government of T$ over events that occurred over a year ago with a bank formerly known as Gringotts has come to the attention of the Fark government. In addition, information was supplied that this member also planned on abandoning and lying to Fark by forming a "wealth / whale only" alliance called "Death Eaters" during wartime, and supplying aid in forms of "loans" to keep us as an alliance close by. Quoting the Farkistan Charter, "Article 6, //// Espionage, either against Fark or another alliance, is asshattery of the first degree. Bannination will ensue" The following announcement has since been made to the member, the membership of Fark, and the leadership of the aligned Swamp Bloc Alliances: We (Bozzie, TFG, and I) have been sent screenshots, FULL screenshots regarding this current issue implicating a member, (F)Arctic Explorer, with addition of ones about his "cult" which was meant to be an alliance for wealthy business owners, where he were going to lie to Fark during wartime by sending aid as a "loan." This could have been Fark-wide war over 100mil, and that's simply unacceptable. We wish him the best, but to quote him in one of the received screenshots, Fark is "just here to defend itself". Due to these reasons, Farkistan government is hereby effectively terminating him as a member, and he will be removed from the Farkistan Alliance immediately. 18. Does he tho? He was banned for violating the 3 strike rule (which I didn't know existed) So that means he didn't get caught cheating once... or twice... but 3 times. I would assume that doesn't even count the selling resources thing since he got immunity from that. Lets take a quick look at his history, he grew his nation and made his fortune by "winning" 29 billion in Keno, left the alliance he was leading in the middle of a war, was involved in a pay for cash scandal, threw a hissy fit, and decided to become a raider, which he was terrible at, until he was eventually banned for trying to pay people to spy slot fill for him, so he could rebuild spies... This is also while he was extremely active while reporting other people pretty regularly for what he thought was cheating. Based on all this, he strikes me as a hypocritical scumbag, and Orbis is a better place without him. All that being said, I still wish ya the best of luck Known Cheater EM.

  24. The animosity towards EM comes a lot from his attitude and personality. He can be very bashful and his hot takes were ridiculous. Once you add in the KENO allegations, getting off free for rule violations after being a bad actor, and now having gotten caught spy slotting or whatever, I think it's reasonable to not like the person.

If by interesting, you mean Keno cheater, selling cash for real life money, paying people to slot his spies, scamming people for months, and raging anytime someone called him out on it, then yeah. I guess it's extremely fascinating it took Alex this long to ban him, guess that's what paying Alex 40$ a month will do for you.

  36. Not too long ago I posted a thread linking 5 changes to the game for May, 4 projects and a change to resource mining. These threads received feedback which has been considered. Also some player discussion in the PnW discord and other conversations have been considered as well. Changes To Mining: Bauxite and Iron Mines increased form 6 mines max to 10 mines max Coal and Oil Mines reduced from 12 mines to 10 mines max Uranium Mines increased from 3 mines to 5 mines max I know there was a suggestion which was strongly supported in which the bonus for having max mines should be increased from 50% to 75%. We agreed that this is a good idea. However both changes might be a bit much at once. The bonus increase will therefor be kept in the back pock and looked at over the next two months. New Projects: National Recycling Initiative Requirements: Center for Civil Engineering Project Cash: $10,000,000 Food: 100,000 Effect: Recycling Centers pollution reduction is increased from 70 to 75. Maximum Recycling Centers per city is increased from 3 to 4. Green Technologies Requirements: City Planning Project, Space Program Project Cash: $100,000,000 Food: 250,000 Aluminum: 10,000 Iron: 10,000 Steel: 10,000 Effect: Pollution caused from refining resources is reduced by 25%. Pollution from farms is reduced by 50%. Subways pollution reduction is increased from 45 to 70. Upkeep from resource production is reduced by 10% Pirate Economy Requirements: Propaganda Bureau Project. Must have a combination of at least 50 "Wars Won" and/or "Wars Lost". Cash: $10,000,00 Munitions: 10,000 Aluminum: 10,000 Gas: 10,000 Steel: 10,000 Effect: Increase maximum offensive war slots from 5 to 6. Telecommunication Satellite: Requirements: City Planning Project, Space Program Project, International Trade Center Project Cash: $300,000,000 Uranium: 10,000 Aluminum: 10,000 Iron: 10,000 Oil: 10,000 Effect: Commerce is increased in all cities by 2%. Maximum Commerce rates are increased by 10% in each city from 115% to 125%. Some of the changes include cost reductions in resources, largely raws. TS was increased from 5% max to 10% max. GT lost bonus to mining raws but gained a bump for subways.

  37. This is untrue, and terrible advice. As someone who's played the game for 4+ years, and been in a bunch, let me tell you what to look for. 1. Find any alliance you like, ones that invite you to them are the best, however *majority* of alliances will accept you, even if you're not in their requirements, simply if you show effort and determination. 2. Join that alliance's discord, or chat equivalent(forums, irc, Skype, etc) and just talk to them in their general chat for about 12-24 hours. Ignore that join an alliance in the first few hours, you have 2 weeks to decide what is the best fit for you, as you'll be sending all your time that you play this game with those people. 3. After talking and feeling out several alliances, figure out which benefits and packages work for you the best, if you want to control your own nation, going to a BIGGER alliance is usually detrimental to that, as they usually are competing very heavily, and have several rivals, which means that while the communities may be good, you may be subject to higher levels of taxation and other things, keep that in mind before you apply. 4. Do you want to learn, or do you want to teach yourself? Most alliances have guides, and most guides are around the same, while you may get a slight advantage in one alliance over the other, the notion that leaving the top 30 will mean you're behind is misguided. You can learn a lot in different alliances, its all about your skillset and what you want to do. 5. Government, if you want to lead, go to smaller alliances, its vastly easier to get a position in smaller ones, and it helps you learn the game a lot faster, imo. Big alliances usually won't give you gov, but will give you work within the departments, both work to teach you, as I've said, simply up to you. TLDR; Big alliances-your hands off, their hands on. Smaller Alliances- Your hands on, their hands off(mostly)

  39. I didn't sleep much at all (180 mins) so today's sermon might still be a random cluster. I mean, it always is. Disclaimer, everything I say is my opinion and mine alone. I do not speak for anyone else and I am not saying that I am right, but that it is merely my insight and I realize as a human being my insight may be skewed. Feel free to debate anything with me at anytime. Or scoff at me and call me an idiot. As a humans are social animals, as much as I dislike it. We are meant to hang out and be with other humans. Humanity has some subconscious rules for society that nobody really knows they follow but many know that they are there. Like the fact that if you don't look good on the outside, nobody is going to look at the inside. Despite the don't judge a book by it's cover, this is an unfortunately natural human instinct. But that's not all, every aspect of your appearance is secretly judges by someone appearance. And that's a proven hard fact. Read this, https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/subliminal/201206/how-we-are-judged-our-appearance. I find it incredibly interesting, and useful. If I need to make an impression you can bet I am going to look nice for the occasion. Voice and body language are also two big points. If you speak in a soft mumbled tone then people are not going to take you seriously. If you are loud and annoying, then people will believe you are ignorant. There is a whole science devoted to all this called "the secret to getting a job"- er oops. I meant psychology. One of those things that isn't great to get a degree in (or is that philosophy) but is pretty cool to know. According to countless studies, someone will make a full judgement of you less than 5 seconds after meeting you. I can confirm this in personal experience because I have caught myself doing it. It isn't wrong to judge someone, don't get me confused. It is natural and you will do it even if you don't want to. Even the best monks will draw quick conclusions about people just for their appearance, except they are just really good at being right lmao. What I am saying is you should take care to make other people's first judgement of you be something you would like. Don't wear shitty clothes, make sure you don't smell like caked sweat, brush your teeth (if you think people won't notice, they will), and talk like who you are. If you have shit to say then say say it with passion, but be prepared to back yourself up and always walk the walk. Look at me being all benevolent, I talk shit a lot and I rarely go through with it. Pretty common lol, as I see lots of people do it. I suppose it is a defense mechanism. Makes sense. Another thing, with enough social interaction you will start to learn when someone makes that judgement and what they truly think. Can't really do it on the internet, as it needs you to learn facial expression. Words can even have no meaning behind them at all. "I love you." That's great and all, but are you talking to a friend, romantic partner, or a random guy on the street? Or does it have no meaning? No malice but no "love" either. That may have been hard to understand. When you say you love someone that can be interpreted many ways and you need to be clear on what way you want it interpreted. If you are talking to a friend, give them a pat on the back and be friendly. Otherwise it could get awkward. If it's a partner, give them a kiss or a wink or something and they'll appreciate it. If it is a random guy on the street you can just be loose and funny, give the guy a joking smile and forget it seconds after. One other thing that people do that hurts their first impression is constantly worrying about what they said. In my mind, words are kinda like missiles. You can aim 'em and all but once you shoot it, forget it. Fire-and-forget. That might be a bad analogy but frick you I have had ~250 minutes of sleep for the whole of 2 and a half days. My point is, if you worry over what you said people will pick up on it. If you said something stupid (like I tend to do) try and move the conversation away from that. If you are just worried about what you said then chill. Because number one, you already said it so there's no point in worrying about it, and two it was probably nothing. But, do not hesitate to apologize and admit a mistake if someone calls you out. Just say sorry and move on. That's what I did in my snipped topic in which I made a joke that was funny at first but fell out of taste. When people got upset I apologized and snipped it. Simple as that, and the conversation was over. I think that's gonna wrap up today's sermon. Early morning sermon I guess. Have a nice day everyone. Stay safe, stay happy, stay healthy. Godspeed.
