First, Alex has nothing to do with the awards threads which includes both their creation and deletion. The awards were originally supposed to be a fun thing with no real impact on anything what-so-ever. Each year they've been done there has been increased complaining all around which ramped up with an in game benefit, even though it was merely a badge, and has continued escalation in the current game climate. Second, the awards don't actually matter in any way. Since they've become more of a headache than anything else, I'm going to petition the removal of the in-game badges from years past and any official game results based on an entirely player run endeavor. That doesn't mean there's anything stopping players from running their own, but unless Alex or another administrator wants to run such an event there shouldn't be game rewards for such. Should Alex decide he wants to do such then badges should stay, however all player run events will do is cause problems which have been clearly demonstrated this year. If you want to blame anyone for the removal of the yearly awards, thank/blame me. I pushed for their exile based on the negative community response no matter what happened. Please continue all complaints about the yearly awards in this thread to help prove the point of why their gone. tl;dr Official awards are no more -- Feel free to run as many alliance based ones as you want but there is no game run one this year and hopefully ever again.

Upon review, it does not appear that @Neko has created a multi here, but rather that this nation https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=167772 has created a multi here https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=181410. @Neko's nation had a very unusual login (different device, browser, and IP address [particularly the IP location]) on 1/5/20 when the trades were made from their nation to nation with ID 181410. The IP and device and browser all matched one used by 167772. That, in itself, could be a fluke or accident as a result of dynamic IP address assignment (although very unlikely.) However, upon further review, the money taken from @Neko's nation was deposited into the "Aposlate" alliance bank https://politicsandwar.com/alliance/id=6366 which was then transferred to the Morningstar Bank, the same alliance of nation with ID 167772. Furthermore, previous transfers by 181410 from the Aposlate bank were earmarked specifically for nation with ID 167772. So, it is clear that the player in charge of nation 167772 created a multi (181410) and then logged into @Neko's nation, traded the money and resources to the multi nation, and then created an alliance bank to transfer the funds from the multi ultimately back to the original nation (167772). There is no evidence anyone's account information, passwords, etc. were compromised. We run a very secure server thanks to @ss23. As you'll see here, there is an explanation for how someone would have obtained the login / password of @Neko's nation: The money and resources remain in the Morningstar bank currently (at the time of writing.) The amounts are $1,000,000, 30,000 Gasoline, 50,000 Munitions, 20,000 Steel, and 20,000 Aluminum. So, concluding this investigation, the nations of 167772 and 181410 are going to be banned, and the money/resources noted above will be transferred back from the Morningstar Bank to @Neko's nation. I hope that this clears up the incident, and addresses any questions/concerns about the investigation process and follow-through. Thanks for the report.

They're a new player! They are not a new player. This is a re-roll of a previous player. I will not disclose who this previous player is because it is irrelevant, but the Administrator, @Alex knows who it is. This player has been around a much longer time than 11/24/2019. It is therefore entirely feasible that the account is an old sleeper alt of Neko. But Blutarch, the unique IDs aren't the same! Unique IDs are not hard to spoof. There are many ways of doing this that the Administrator is well aware of, which is why a unique ID match is not a clear sign of being an alt. However, obvious "sweetheart trades" are. Dear Alex, Your post on Monokuma's post about Robot Santa seems to fly in the face of your own posted rules. It is, in black and white, written that both the accuser and the accused may post on the post and no other. This, I feel, is healthy if a bit shouty. It allows you to come into point and counterpoint (until such point at as it becomes 'but *I* think' countered by 'but *I* think")! You need to be able to hear not only the rebuttal to the accusation, but why the accuser calls bullshit. And, yes, I get wanting to protect your mods. They are hard to come by - especially ones that will stick around. Robot Santa, for all their other good, DID go beyond RAW (rules as written) in this case. You removed Blut's warning point but you said nothing of his ten day ban. Is that also lifted? Moderator discretion can be a good thing, but tossing RS a 'dude, really?' message is not out of line here. Please do update the written forum rules to reflect these changes and please do treat the parties involved as they should have been under the rules at that point written.

Why: This frees up, at least, nine improvements slots. 43% 14% = 4 supermarkets + 5 1 banks. Commerce won't help anyone who gets their infra destroyed, but it would be a nice way to free up improvement slots.

Orbis needs a way to disagree and show their dissent of posts. We need a tool to show we don't support an announcement or a new judgement or something of that sort. The game becomes stagnant if the admins don't understand what the game wants and what it does not. While all current reactions are ""Yes, I agree" or "That is funny" or "I support this", we lack a reaction which says "Frick off" or "No one likes you dummy". The proposal: Add a new reaction called "Downvote". It can look like this: It's effect will be lowering the reputation of the post(and in general of the poster overall). This will give politics a whole new dynamic where you might wage wars because people down-voted you. It will also have an effect where communities can mass-downvote people to make them look dumb. It will give Orbis a rebellious voice as well as can be used for targeted Dumb Person Attacks.

isnt a simple popup on the games page the most straight forward method? Adding a temporary category under the account section would mean you can vote at any time after the initial popup/notification. Im thinking drop nominations altogether and just be able to vote for any alliance in the alliance section and any nation in the leader/community section via boxes you need to submit your entry in rather than picking from a list. This way it gets broadcasted out to every player not just people browsing the forums. Less talk, more integrated and reaches everyone in the game. I think these awards are a nice thing to have, and would be a loss not to do them.

It's an interesting thought given the already overwhelming levels of toxicity. I agree that the awards as they are now are probably not something that should be continued given their deleterious effects on the community and the lack of any real amusement for most players. The thing is though that I think a lot of the tension has been fixated on the process versus the awards themselves. Now, there are two possibilities there. First, people have legitimate concerns about how the awards are done in terms of fairness and wish for better methods of determining awards. Second, the awards process is being made political on purpose to stir up toxicity and being used as a proxy for a personal set of conflicts. I suspect its a mix of both, but as an optimist I'll assume that its mostly the first option and the community has real concerns about the awards. The problem is that we're trying to assign holistic categories to a game that is just a few lines of text thrown together with some pictures and formatting. Ideally, we base those judgements on those categories off of the data the game gives us, objective measures like infrastructure destroyed, cities grown, etc. Instead these categories and their respective winners are often based off of completely subjective and/or political factors such as alliance affiliation, community loyalties, or simply what somebody else tells you to vote. To me, it seems the problem lies with the layers of abstraction we try to put over what should just be manifestations of the objective criteria of the game. Thus, it follows that the awards themselves are not problematic rather we just need to rethink how and what we award. We could give people awards for objective accomplishment such as money looted and alliance ranking versus best fight or most powerful alliance. You can't really fight over raw data of the game, and it still provides an outlet for fun and entertainment as people compete year-long to achieve these goals without the need for Alex to get involved (although I'm sure he could code it in to make it easier) nor such a risk of awards becoming as foul as they are now.

On the contrary this is relavent, the timing of everything is rather suspicious especially when you consider this report was made half a day after these trades happened and that Neko was previously cyberbullied by GOONS enough that he had to reroll his nation. It'd be hard to believe you accidentally "stumbled" upon them

The only painful charade is that you tried to cover up an alt account used for hiding your war chest right after a bank theft with the world's most obvious botting attempt, and your only excuse is the second most common excuse("my account was hacked"). I half expected you to tell me your brother did it or something, or that your dog ate your homework.

I understand posting in no-discussion forums is your go-to thing, but you should maybe read the posts before your current one.

You're not toxic and unconstructive at all. @kastor, I do echo the concerns about isolating this to 25 people- I have a different suggestion: Why not do the open polls and nominations again. Don't pull it out of the public into backrooms. Do it the way it was in '14 and '15. The goal isn't really to "win", it's to just jointly look back and discuss the year, and involve as many people as possible. Open the nominations, allow for discussions, and then just have voting polls on these forums. Let's keep it low effort, transparent and not overcomplicate things. Who cares if someone else mass votes and/or wins- I always enjoyed the discussions more than the actual awards anyway.
