  1. No offense to anyone currently involved in the awards, but they are trash. Long story short time: Every year everyone cries about these awards bc you have the alliances with a ton of people just throwing their own people/alliance in there. People who actually fit within those chosen categories just get pushed to the side with the quantity of bias votes. (quick disclaimer I don't give a shit about these awards). My idea is simple, fair, and puts the work on the alliances vs a multitude of individuals. Here's how it works: I provide you with a card of categories (just like every year) You take it to your alliance. As an alliance you discuss with each other, whoever the hell is active in your discord/forums to figure out who best fits each category (from OUTSIDE your alliance) You fill out your card and submit it back to me. For those of you not following that is 1 card filled out PER alliance that is participating. For those of you that didn't catch it, you only get to choose items from OUTSIDE your alliance - not your own damn shit. With very few cards created from legitimate alliances through Orbis, nominations are in and we can beginning the voting process. NO circle jerks. NO quantity voting. NO self voting to promote your ego. If you're interested in this, let me know. If you would prefer to stick with the yearly circle jerk that is the Orbis Awards, I prefer no lube. Thanks

  2. Nation Link: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=36419 Ruler Name: Sphinx Nature of Violation: Alex, This nation is using a mythological creature as their ruler name, i think it is very offensive to bring such a fantastic beast down to the level of a PnW player. It should not be tolerated, i think this falls under harassment (of the mythological beast ofc) A sphinx is a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion. In Greek tradition, the sphinx has the head of a woman, the haunches of a lion, and the wings of a bird. She is mythicised as treacherous and merciless.

  3. Avengers sign ODoAP with Schrute Farms! A fairly new power of orbis 'Avengers' sign a ODoAP with beet farmers of Orbis aka Schrute Farms. Avengers, a new alliance that climbed into top #60 in just 18 days of its creation has impressed the farmers with their potential and activity and thus decided to sign a treaty of friendship and brotherhood. "Both alliances promise to help each other in countering the raiders to keep their farms and spaceships safe. We also sign an optional pact of aggression to help each other blitz alliances we hate." Wartime preparation: Schrute Farmers will achieve the ground control with armed tractors, trucks and harvesters which will be followed by air strikes from Helicarrier owned by Avengers (Helicarrier was restored and modified after destruction). If you try to be Thanos, we will make sure that its your end game. ~ Nick Fury

  6. I don't mind have some competition with official awards. But with other unique way to choose the winners. Personally I would love to see a small group of experianced players who decide who should win this year. But with explanation why. In official votes doesn't really see it. It's my two cents.

  7. Most of my resources come from fighting in the war, my gas and bullets come from the alliance. They take all my oil and turn it into fuel for me to use in the war. I give them all the base resources I loot and most of my aluminum and steel. I've never really needed to care about the market because that supply chain is in place.

  12. As it stands, the only way messages can be displayed is by ascending and descending date, which isn’t very helpful. Something that would be nice for someone with lots messages is to put unread messages at the front of the page. This would help alliance leaders constantly contacting members and makes sure new members don’t fall in the cracks.

  17. No one is forcing you to delete, you entered VM mode on your recognizance. If by "delete" you mean "they won't let me steal money from them and then keep my 4,000 infra cities" then sure. And in Wampus's case you must mean "I should get to talk shit to a guy who loves to war and face no repercussions in a that same fricking war game." Every time you address anyone in Alpha you keep digging your hole deeper, first it was here, then you tried to escape via a shitty Discord DM, now this.

  18. The process is almost entirely automated, it would waste even more time to make a special snowflake exemption for people who only play a couple games a day. If you can't abide by the system the community has put in place for baseball tipping, then that community is gonna stop playing away games with you. It's that simple. ?‍♀️

  27. Nah, we'll just have a normal awards system like we've had in the past. We know what categories go into it. We can pull lists for nominees or let the nominees be nominated by the players. And someone more competent will run them.

  29. Idea: The cost of purchasing and maintaining a military should increase both in dollar and resource amount due to poor infrastructure. That said, we do not want the person launching the first strike to get an additional immediate advantage so this effect should only come into play when infrastructure is very low. Possible Method: At the time of entering the military page (as well as the time of purchase to avoid shenanigans such as leaving it open all day) have the server check to see if the nation's total infrastructure could support only the military and power plant buildings. This gives nations their economic and production building infrastructure space as a 'buffer' before the increased costs kick in. This could be done on an exponential scale from costing just pennies more on a purchase for the first dip in infrastructure to being absolutely punishing (5x? 10x?) if someone is trying to run a war off of zero infrastructure and just the improvements they still have standing cause a ground invasion or a naval attack hasn't plinked them yet. In Character Reasoning: It is harder to keep things functional when you are constantly driving over potholes and taking the long way around cause the old bridge has been condemned Out of Character Reasoning: It puts a more final end to a conflict and makes it so that huge nations with 20+ cities cannot just human wave at their max rebuy forever without help. Please feel free to comment with ideas to improve this. I do feel that such a system will make for a game with a more natural end to conflicts.

  30. Nation Link: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=89681 Ruler Name: Bjorn Ironside Nature of Violation: Using Vacation Mode as a tool to avoid wars. --- As per the game rules: Vacation ModeVacation Mode is a feature allowing you to preserve your nation during periods of time while you are away. Entering Vacation Mode will prevent you from executing attacks in any ongoing wars, and prevent you from doing most game activities while your nation is in Vacation Mode. Vacation Mode has a minimum period of 14 days. Once in Vacation Mode, you will not be allowed to leave early. Vacation Mode is not intended for use as a tool to avoid fighting wars. --- The Nation in question has been active during their VM period, has goaded people into attacking him and upon VM expiration has entered VM again. Therefore it is my belief the above Nation is using VM as a tool to avoid fighting wars. Supporting Evidence of activity during VM and goading: See https://forum.politicsandwar.com/index.php?/profile/9352-bjorn-ironside/content/ Also,

  46. As anyone who’s at least a little familiar with me knows, I’ve been a member of Polaris for over three years. I’ve been a member of the New Polar Order in Cybernations for even longer. As of a few days ago, this is no longer the case. Throughout my time in the alliance, I’ve contributed a great deal to it. I’ve made artwork for them. I created and maintained the Polaris-related pages on the wiki. I created their Discord server and maintained it for over two years. I’m not saying I was the only one who contributed to these things, but I feel it would be fair to say my involvement with the alliance wasn’t anything minor. A few months ago, we came to the decision to combine our Cybernations and Politics & War Discord servers after my initial suggestion over the summer. Again, I wasn’t the only one involved in this process. Cobrastrike took on the task of creating bot commands for the purpose of role assignment, so that gov members from the opposite game couldn’t assign roles that they weren’t supposed to. While he was doing that, I spent the whole night going through each individual channel and adjusting the role permissions so they couldn’t be accessed by those who shouldn’t see them, as well as creating categories, channels, and roles for our Cybernations members/government. The server merge took place in late August or early September, I believe. The peace that the server had experienced up until that point was quickly cut short when the !@#$ known as Terminator joined the server. By this point, I had passed server ownership onto EaTeM, while still maintaining moderator permissions as a Council Adviser. Terminator had a history of not following the rules in our CN server, and that trend continued. Multiple times, I had asked him to quit violating the rules we had in place - spamming, not listening to mods, making the server a negative place in general. Unsurprisingly, he wouldn’t listen, so I used my mod powers to delete several of his messages and mute him. That was my mistake, as I was a fool to think the rules actually applied to him. Instead of Terminator facing any consequences, I ended up being punished instead. My moderator permissions were taken away and I was stripped of my position as Council Adviser. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed off. After several heated back and forth conversations and a couple months later, I was finally given back my mod permissions and position as Council Adviser. When I returned, I discovered that the server was drastically different behind the scenes. Government members from either game now had the ability to assign any role they wanted, and gain access to any channel they wanted. My role as a P&W Council Adviser also lacked several permissions that it had previously, and didn’t even match the permissions that the CN Council Adviser role had. After bringing up the issues with how things were now, it didn’t seem like anyone cared about the possible security risks. The last part of the story involves me setting up some opt-in channels for the server, which I had received permission to do after asking like I was supposed to. The rest of gov was offline for the night, and I discovered after starting to work on the channels that I didn’t have sufficient permissions to complete them. To get around this, I temporarily assigned myself the Emperor role so I could finish setting up the channels. Upon receiving the role, I did not gain access to any channels that I didn’t already have access to. I had only received a few extra permissions that I didn’t have like Manage Emojis and Manage Channels. After setting up the opt-in channels, I took the Emperor role off of me and went to sleep. After waking up the next day and logging into Discord, I was being treated by everyone like I had just committed a heinous crime. After doing what I was given permission to do in an attempt to make the server a better place, I was treated with a vote to once again strip me of my mod permissions. Again, I was pretty upset. Despite being mistreated in the past, I was still trying to contribute to the alliance I had been in the past three years. I was pretty done at this point, so I decided to leave the server. The next day, I woke up to discover I was kicked out of and banned from the CN alliance, apparently targeted for perma-ZI, as well as kicked from the P&W alliance. My question for Polaris, that I’m finally getting around to asking - was it really necessary to ban me from a server I already left on top of everything else? I called Polaris my home for many years, defended it when I could, spent countless hours contributing to it in many ways, and I’m treated like this. I know you seem to hate being called out in public, but I guess you’ll have to deal with it now. To anyone who made it this far in the post, I shouldn’t need to say this at this point, but please don’t join Polaris. They aren’t worth it.
