  1. While I believe most of the community appreciates the new "hotkey" link to the wars page from the new mobile navbar, I can't really wrap my head around dislodging resource bar from there. It's supposedly one click away, but the resource dropdown table does not even work half the time, ironically on pages most relevant for resources (trade, wars). Very often you need to check on your resources. Making a trade offer? You need the direct information of how much you have. Calculating gasoline/munitions reserves and how many airstrikes you have left. And so forth. And then you hit this dropdown and it does not even work, so you need to go to another page, refresh it, *then* see your resources, head back to the relevant page.. and so forth. Frankly I don't think any mobile user of PnW cares about how much is some feature aesthetical or not, as long as it's useful and serves its purpose. So here are my alternative suggestions, along with some other slight navbar changes that I believe would improve QoL for mobile users. Variant 1* *The resource navbar has NOT been scaled in this example. Theoretically it would look the same as it were before the navbar changes. Variant 2 I've also included a poll but I have no idea if I've managed to set it up properly. Nonetheless, please share your thoughts! *For reference, this is how the current navbar looks like.

  2. Here's a curious notion, there are 20 posts (2.3%) out of the 854 replies in this thread from TKR Gov/FA (3 people in fact) who may have anything to do with actual negotiations. IMO none of these could be construed as inflammatory. Unless representing in a clear manner a difference of opinion is considered inflammatory of course. The posts from other TKR members equals a grand total of 97 (11.3%). (I'll put in here a +/- 0.2% accuracy disclaimer - there was a lot of posts to sift through ?) I would argue the angst and knotted knickers we seem to be dealing with here, and associated Coalition B FA policy development, could be attributed to a large portion of the remaining 86.4% of posts. If negotiation is what coalition B wants, then it needs to happen elsewhere. Hearts, minds and common ground are not being won here.

  3. These forums are here for everyone. I like to think that the actual, genuine political discussions are actually happening between our leaders in a much less cluttered and private space than this. Perhaps that is where an obstacle to peace lies, in the conflation of this public space with where the genuine negotiations are supposed to take place. It would be very foolish indeed to allow the unregulated statements (trolling), and inadequately informed opinions (you may include mine if you like) that populate this forum to unduly influence political discussions between our leaders. I do hope the negotiators are above that!!

Superpower 2020, a brown alliance, that overnight will grow and become a P/W force. A aggressive and coordinated show of India str0nk. Who in? To any naysayers saying 2 weeks/this will never work:

  9. 1. This amounts to printing money. I'd take all the money in my alliance's bank, divide it by the maximum per-unit value of a trade, and trade that much food back and forth between my nation and the nation of another alliance officer. 2. This wouldn't really enhance roleplay because it would be used to accelerate nation growth independent of IC ideology. 1% boosts aren't that far off from the boosts that already come from domestic policies. That's not a reason to be against this particular change, but it's not an RP change because it isn't inconsequential. 3. Let's not widen the income gap between the whales and the mid tier. There are enough game balance issues associated with upper tier wealth hoarding already. 4. Not exactly roleplay in my book, but it's completely cosmetic and therefore harmless.

  11. I don't think an admission of defeat is the problem. From what I gather from poking around, a lot of the previous breakdowns were the result of a breakdown of communication due to the miscommunication (on your side) and misinterpretation (on kerchtogg's side) of the loaded term of surrender before the presentation of the instruments of surrender. Kerchtog coalition was made to believe that the term was designed as an unconditional surrender similar to (for the gamers out here) the "unconditional surrender" option in paradox' EU4. That is to say, they would prematurely have to agree to what terms followed, and be seen as reneging on "peace" if they found said terms unacceptable. From that vantage point, I too would have refused to surrender. It was later clarified by coalition B that this was not the case, and that the surrender term was merely a preamble to the start of "real" negotiations about instruments of surrender. I anticipate this whole admission of defeat thing to blow over fairly easily at this point. As I was not around for the kerchtog-coal B talks in person, I can not speak on the cause of this miscommunication. I would however point out that the "Accept our terms or see you in a month" policy taken by coal B negotiators probably has not been helpful in identifying and addressing the cause of the breakdown in communication which has been holding up negotiations. Here's to a better procession from here, eh?

  13. So Side A doesn't want to lose the bargaining chip it sees its eventual admission of defeat as... ...and Side B doesn't want Side A's admission of defeat to be up for debate, as a bargaining chip or otherwise... ...and the compromise is to give Side A what it wants. Got it.

  14. The way I see it: Side A doesn't want to take the generally unprecedented step of agreeing to preconditions for peace and/or making concessions without anything in return, and see an "admission of defeat" as a precondition/concession. Side B doesn't want to negotiate with people posturing about how they haven't lost, and sees asking for an "admission of defeat" as a way to preclude it. Seems like a good middle ground would be to hold negotiations where both sides agree to not debate who "won" as part of the talks (that doesn't mean that an admission of defeat can't be a peace term). Side A doesn't have to make any one sided concessions without getting anything in return and Side B doesn't have to suffer listening to people on Side A posturing about not loosing.

  15. Eh, this is kinda complex. 40k was originally designed as a humor parody of over-the-top sci fi settings. Then some of its early players, who saw it as a more of a serious setting, became writers and developers, which led to the grimdark future filled with only war we have now. Yeah, the Empire of Terra is pretty fascistic, but (other than being a regular point of view in games and books) they aren't really believed to be "correct" in-setting, and are just a morally gray option in a setting with several other morally gray (self-serving, backstabbing eldar, brainwashing tau, self-serving and hyper-territorial Necron) and less than grey (planet-eating Tyrannids and brutal, rapacious Orks) options. oh no I just effortposted about 40k, trap sprung

  16. It’s been a busy first month for GOONS in the world of Orbis. In the midst of constant war, we’ve been busy making friends and getting up to trouble on our own. We’ve been so busy that it warrants a small update on our status. Update one: the flag! GOONS consider itself an inclusive alliance that seeks the uplift of all people. That, combined with our 100/100 command economy, has made the dirty commie theme quite easy for us to adapt. Many of our members are real-life socialists and communists, and we welcome diplomatic contact with other like-minded alliances. Update two: Alliance growth! In a brief 42 days, GOONS has already cracked the top 30 of alliances. Update three: Speaking of diplomatic contact with like-minded alliances, we have some announcements to make. ---

  17. Today October 20th, 2019. This is the day I have finally accomplished the dream. Many said I couldnt do it, many didn't actually care. But I did it, I've created an alliance that hit top 50. After 5 other attempts, Golden Phoenix Coalition (4th) has made that mark. I can now die.

  19. Hail Hydra. This has been an epic ride. ( Proceeds to tell life story ) When I first got into this game, about 3 years ago, I was a communist nation. I joined Acadia, took out a couple grants, then left. I got hit hard by raids, and then quit due to too little time to play and life problems (foreshadowing). Even through that little encounter, I met many people and was fascinated how I could interact with complete strangers. I still look back at that experience today as sort of the seed I was planting to get to this point. Anyways, Around spring of last year, I remembered politics and war. The game where you could make your own nation, and control your own success. I knew summer would be coming pretty soon, and I knew I was going to be bored. So I made an account. “Taash” is the name of the nation. I thought up a whole backstory, and for the first month I really worked hard on that nation. I decided it was time to join an alliance. So, after finding out TKR wasn’t the best choice (imagine that) I found (with the help of people on discord) Typhon. I applied, and got in. I loved how everything was set up and quickly grew to 2k using their grants and such. I met many amazing people there, who would help me along my journey. As soon as I got in, I was greeted by someone called Evernt. I had no clue who this was, and I said hi back. After talking for a while, I managed to squeeze a few thousand tons of aluminum out of him for free. After talking more and more, he gave me a few tips on how I could make my nation better, and I used them. Over the next month he would become the closest friend I had on P.a.W. We often stayed up late talking about the happenings, the things Typhon could do, and how we would eventually rule the game. After talking with him when I initially joined, I found out he was a gov member. A power hungry new member, ( I think we can all relate ) I went straight to the top of the food chain to the commander of Typhon, Zephyr. I already had some ideas on how to improve the alliance, and he ( after long talks ) game me a position of “Community Affairs”. I accepted, and made many small changes around the alliance, so I felt I was making a difference. But I was never quite satisfied with what I was doing, and at that time I (wrongly) thought I was really being taken for granted. I am highly motivated, and I thought to myself I could do what Typhon did, replicate their success even better. I felt with my qualities, I could be the leader of one of the most successful alliances in game. So, I drew up ideas, and started working. My logo, my values, everything about my alliance would be perfect. Everything would be thought out, and then I would launch. I just needed a time. It just so happened, Evernt was thinking about leaving too. He was talking to someone called Nokia. Turns out, they were making an alliance too, which was perfect. “Hydra” (my alliance) and “The Coal Mines” (their alliance) would be linked throughout Hydras life. So, I had a time, and place. But I wasn’t going to just launch it. I needed allies, so I looked around and got some M level treaties, as well as a protector, USN. I haven’t talked to them in forever, but Matrix was always supportive. So, I had what I needed, friends, protectors, an idea. All I had to do was make it. So on the first of July, Hydra was born. I quickly got applications, and set up a truly state of the art discord compared to many of the ones I have seen. We grew pretty slowly in the beginning. But things picked up quick and we got to 15k fast. The workload was insane, I had to be everywhere at once. Then one day someone joined. He would go on to become my second in command, and help me through a lot of problems. SandmanWarrior713. He quickly grew from nothing into a powerhouse, grinding on baseball for hours. I admired his work ethic. He never got enough credit for his sacrifices, and I see that now. Hydra was my brainchild, but it was Sandman who really took it to the next level. If you have someone who is under appreciated, it may be a coworker, mother, family member,... make sure they know how much they mean to you. Because I feel like I never did with sandman. With that being said, him and I worked closely to get through many problems. We got up to 40k, and everything was going smooth. We were top 50, we reached our goal of getting out of that slum of less then 50, and things looked bright. Then School started. Realize, I had been on politics and war every day for around 3 hours, working on problems, keeping everyone in line. Now that school was starting, I couldn’t do that anymore. I made and announcement to everyone, warned them I wouldn’t be on as much anymore, and people seemed pretty fine with it. But with sports and school, I soon found it went from me on discord and politics and war for 3 hours every day, to 2... to 1.... to only on weekends... then to not at all. And with family issues and my dads health problems taking more time off, I stopped completely. And that was the relative beginning of the end. I checked in once every 2 weeks, and Sandman was doing great. So I took more time off. I forgot about it. Then one day, I checked discord. White names. Hundreds of notifications. I knew what happened, and I pushed it away for a week. But I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So today, I got on. Faced my fears. And It was true. The thing I spent hundreds of hours on making... was dead. I scrolled through the discord. Saw many of my former members saying “bye” or “hail Hydra” before leaving. And to be honest, I choked up a little. I spent so long on making this, and the slow and painful death I gave it it did not deserve. No one deserved it. Not Sand. Not my officers. Not my members. It hurt me to think about it, me not making time to keep it alive. But everything must die eventually. There are many metaphors which this can apply to. Sometime, one day, Alex will turn off the servers. One day, you, me, everyone with breathe one last time. And it turns out that I couldn’t stop it from happening, only a matter of when. People should know the story of Hydra, and there it is. Maybe not in its entirety, and I remember the many personal moments I shared with people on this game that brought us all together. I do not know what the future holds for me and this game. I may return again. As of the time of this post my nation is dying, but not altogether destroyed. I don’t know If I have the drive to keep it going. I guess we will see. But thank you to everyone who believed in Hydra, and everyone who worked, fought and helped it become a reality, it means everything to me. Hydras death was a suffocating one, one that it didn’t deserve in the least. Hail Hydra! - Sol

My only concern would be: When you open the site on your laptop/computer, you can just click on one of the resources to directly access the market page for that resource. I wonder whether the size of the symbols especially in the second one might not be a problem then because you might end up clicking with your finger on several of them. I mean of course you can zoom in on your phone but the entire point here is convenience so I thought I might add that. ^^

Etatsorp wrote: "I would argue the angst and knotted knickers we seem to be dealing with here, and associated Coalition B FA policy development, could be attributed to a large portion of the remaining 86.4% of posts." I would argue that that a huge portion of the remaining 86.4% of post were someway or another dealing with KERTCHOGG´s initial rhetoric of permawar and promises to totally destroy Colo B alliances, I think even forced disbandments were on the table by the most fanatical of KERTCHOGG posters in the first 2 months of this conflict when they had the upper hand. Also Etatsorp focusing on TKR posters only(who have been mostly civil) makes it look like TKR= KERTCHOGG and TKR is the only legit voice for Colo A. But I agree OWF topics rarely lead to peace and this topic is not an exception, personally I´d like the war to last till new year and start peace then for obvious symbolic reasons, but if it takes longer then it just takes longer, existential threats like thrown out in the first 2 months of the conflict by the initial winning side can not be forgotten and put aside that easily...

  24. That's not the lie. The lie was, you "supposedly" had nothing to do with the original plot. Akuryo had no access to the leader's chat about what terms, if any, were discussed. His rambling is from the common chat, speculating with others who also had access there.

  31. It seems like you're trying to both argue that: 1) The German army was separate from Nazism, and so the ban on Nazism doesn't apply. 2) People shouldn't get offended because [insert other people that did bad things] The second argument is basically an argument against having Nazi imagery be against the rules and doesn't help convince anyone that the distinction between Nazism and the German Army is being made in good faith. It's basically saying "Even if it's breaking the rules it shouldn't be a rule anyway".

  32. This continued argument is fine and all, but I think you all forgot the actual purpose of it. To find a middle ground so people stopped quitting due to the longest lasting war in our history. Between the Chaos/Ketog war and this one, we have been at war for 80% of the current year. During that time, politics sucked. Today, my country is being torn apart by politicians that can't agree on anything and manipulate the working class to get some leverage on one another. It's funny how this game reflects the same thing. Nothing is ever solved, the "leaders" don't look out for their members and the only thing that matters is their own stupid pride!!! get it together boys and girls, don't kill the game just yet.
