  2. I don't think an admission of defeat is the problem. From what I gather from poking around, a lot of the previous breakdowns were the result of a breakdown of communication due to the miscommunication (on your side) and misinterpretation (on kerchtogg's side) of the loaded term of surrender before the presentation of the instruments of surrender. Kerchtog coalition was made to believe that the term was designed as an unconditional surrender similar to (for the gamers out here) the "unconditional surrender" option in paradox' EU4. That is to say, they would prematurely have to agree to what terms followed, and be seen as reneging on "peace" if they found said terms unacceptable. From that vantage point, I too would have refused to surrender. It was later clarified by coalition B that this was not the case, and that the surrender term was merely a preamble to the start of "real" negotiations about instruments of surrender. I anticipate this whole admission of defeat thing to blow over fairly easily at this point. As I was not around for the kerchtog-coal B talks in person, I can not speak on the cause of this miscommunication. I would however point out that the "Accept our terms or see you in a month" policy taken by coal B negotiators probably has not been helpful in identifying and addressing the cause of the breakdown in communication which has been holding up negotiations. Here's to a better procession from here, eh?

  5. This pretty much already happens to some extent and there are enough people who don't hold an official leader position who wield considerable influence where it's not really a gamechanger. Most of the complaining about leaders staying around long doesn't really look at that most people don't actually want the responsibility leadership entails and for good reason. It's not glamorous and no one's getting any real glory from being a leader. It's literally just masochists who volunteer to stay leaders and stick it out. Like I did say I had suspicions/prejudices towards people who have been leaders for longer than I have or have cycled in and out over the past 5 years, but there's a reason they're sticking around and I don't blame them. It's not really about wanting to dislike them/blacklist and it'd be better if we could find common ground at some points, but it just hasn't been there so we see the worst in each other.

  6. Maybe it would be a good idea for both coalitions to publish a list of what terms they would be willing to accept and which ones they would like to be accepted. And if not that at least a standpoint of how they view the situation/what they want the situation to be post war. That would give common ground and maybe make politics less hostile and more constructive, no?

  10. Yeah, the issue with German themes or anything tied to WWII is it's often a cloak for nazism. Like Iron Guard for instance passed the rules but it was a similar group with ethnic nationalism and anti-semitism at its core. It "it's too obscure for these kids to know about, so we're gonna get away with it."

  12. Wrong actually :3 The NPO originally picked the Roman Empire as its theme. Which is why for the most bit, the NPO's positions are Emperor/Senate/Praetorian Guard along with internal milcom positions named after Roman military units We definitely don't do communist/fascist appearances. Unless Warhammer40k is Fascist in nature and therefore our new rebrand in PW is fascist?

I always find it odd why no one adopts Italian, Venetian, French or even English themes, it’s always Germanic nationalism from 1933 onwards. Not even Prussia gets a mention which would be a far better choice.

With this amount of data some mistakes are bound to happen, but it's the closest to perfection we'll ever get to. Instead of this kind of treatment, lets be thankful for what they made and not throw shit at members of this community that are voluntarily putting their hours into something that benefits all the players. If you have grievances, report mistakes you believe exist but god damn, be respectful about it and I'm sure they'll address your complaints when they're able.

  29. We know gov with bank access has a lot of work during war so I was thinking about a new option for alliance banks I call bancomat Let's use myself as example, I don't want to keep too much on my nation because there's always the risk of beige (or more likely I want to be beiged) so often I have to request both money and resources, then I have to wait until there's someone online who can send things to me, with my bancomat idea is different, I can take from the bank what I need when I need, how? Bankers know I am a trusted player (I hope I am), they decide to enable for me the bancomat option, they decide I can take from the bank 5M and 2k of every resources, then when I need I just have to accept the transfer, everything or just a part of it This option is designed for small transactions and therefore should have a low limit like 10M and 5k for resources, this to not make hidding banks too easy The bank can set the bancomat in various ways: 1) No reset, once I take everything I'm not able to use my bancomat until bank gov enable another one for me 2) Daily reset, if my limit is 5M per day I can take 3 now and for the rest of the day I can can still take 2M, but after 12 turns the reset happens and I can take 5M again 3) Multiple days reset, same as before but the bank gov can set how many days before the reset happens (max 30 days) 4) Deposit based bancomat, my bancomat is enabled with 0 of everything but when I do a bank deposit it goes on my bancomat, then I can take it back when I want (same limits here so if I deposit more money than the bancomat limit 10 are for the bancomat and the rest goes to the bank like a normal deposit)

  31. The usefulness of posting this may come into question for some of you, but after some things I've seen, it seemed neccessary to post this, I do truly think this is a huge threat to the community if unchecked, so after much thought, I posted this. It seems that there are evil people toiling and schemeing to end this war, we cannot tolerate such heinous behavior any longer. They are like termites trying to destroy a beautiful house, they are trying to destroy this war that we have worked so hard to create, we must stop them before it's to late. The war has lasted for 4 months or so, I think we can all agree we can do better and drag it out much longer! I think all people in Coalition A (who aren't whales) want it to continue because it hasn't gone on long enough. So on behalf of myself, and whoever else wants some answers: Why are you trying to end such a beautiful thing? Do you delight in trying to destroy all things good? So here's my only compromise to them, the war will be over by A Christmas.

Especially when you consider Japan's continued love for Germany and the notable historical revisionist movement in Japan as well. The power of anime girl thighs simply isn't going to change what that name actually means, and is connected to, no matter where they claim the source is from. Nice try at dodging that truth for your ally though.

The Treaty of Astra Preamble The Signatories of this document come together, to observe in unison, the articles detailed within, and carry out those obligations listed to the fullest extent. The name “Astra” of an ancient lost language, meaning “Weapon”. A weapon is a forged instrument of precision, engineering, and countless failures required to produce a tried and tested tool. The Signatories hereof, abandon their roots to enter The Forge. Articles Article One - Sword and Shield Doctrine Mutual Defense, Mutual Aggression (MDAP). The Signatories of this treaty agree to stand unmoved, whether occasion be defense from any attack, or aggression for any reason deemed necessary. Clause One of Article One: Noble Combat Defense or Aggression obligations can be waived and circumvented ONLY in the case where all engaged parties waive these obligations. Other Signatories may choose to obligate regardless, thus returning this obligation to the others. Clause Two of Article One: Intelligence All Signatories are required to share intelligence gathered or given to them in the event that said intelligence pertains to security and interests of the bloc or one of its Signatories. How or if this information is acted upon is up to the discretion of the recipient. Article Two - Seven Nation Army The Signatories of this document agree to a structure of unified command. All Signatories will maintain their domestic rankings and responsibilities, however, the Bloc itself shall have a command structure made up of the Signatories’ own domestic personnel. These will be appointed positions separated into two categories of High and Low Command. Positions of High Command will be vetted and appointable by a council of the Signatories Leadership and High Government. Low Command will be vetted and appointable by a council of the Government, including low gov, of all Signatories. Appointment and vetting will be based upon merit, availability, and willingness. High Command shall be comprised of the Unified Forces Commander in Chief (UFCC), assisted Unified Forces Commanders (UFC). Low Command Shall be comprised of Unified Forces Officers. Clause One of Article Two: Emergency Situations, all Government of all Signatories will have training and minor experience relating to their level (high, low) in their domestic alliance. In Emergency Situations where the event occurs that Unified Command is unavailable, any personnel on-scene will be equipped and authorized to take control of the situation until Unified Command arrives. Article Three - Independent Arms The Signatories of this document agree to and recognize the inalienable right to sovereignty of domestic affairs of all Signatory alliances. Affairs of Internal, Economic, or Foreign concern are left to the discretion of each Signatory, Military Affairs will remain as a Joint-Command between all Signatories as listed in Article Two. Article Four - No Chains All Signatories agree to refrain from signing frivolous treaties with non-Signatories. It is entirely permissible for any Signatory at any time to bring forward a recommendation for either an alliance to become a Signatory or for said alliance to become an Associated Entity to the Bloc. Associated Entities may take the form of any treaty so long as this treaty and the Associated Entity status is agreed on by vote as listed in Article Five. Clause One of Article Four: Leaving the Nest Signatories are permitted, if they so desire, to have and maintain a relationship with a Protector. This option should be reserved for the smallest and most inexperienced members to provide further opportunity to learn from many perspectives. Clause Two of Article Four: Taking Flight In the event a Signatory has grown to sufficient size to no longer seek the aid of a protector, or such time that the Bloc has grown and organized itself to a sufficient point of maintaining defense, Signatories may bring forward a proposed treaty upgrade to be voted upon as an Associated Entity Treaty. Furthermore, Signatories also have the choice to upgrade their Protector treaty and leave the Bloc if either party is unwilling, or if a vote to accept an Associated Entity Treaty fails, to stay with their former protector, or to leave regardless to seek their own way. An upgrade may also be permitted in the form of a strict MnDoAP, which will apply ONLY to the direct Signatory and no other members of the Bloc, Provided that the number of these treaties in total to the Bloc are limited to a number no greater than 3, until otherwise changed per voting in Article 5. Protector/Protectorate relationships with outside powers will always be treated as the one-way MDPs they are intended, so as to avoid a clash with the Bloc’s current interests or with Associated Entities. If such a conflict does not occur, expansion is to the discretion of the Signatories. Clause Three of Article Four: Guarding the Young In the event that a Signatory of suitable size to no longer require a protector seeks to protect others themselves, such interests should be brought forward to vote by the Signatories. All protectorates will be of the Bloc as a whole, and not of individual alliances. This will guarantee a new level of exposure to learning opportunities, as well as support and protection. Alliances interested in becoming Signatories which possess protectorates they wish to keep will require the protectorates signature on the appropriate Bloc treaty detailing terms and to pass a vote. Article Five - A Voice For All All Signatories will be entitled to a vote on Bloc matters requiring one. This includes Protectorates, Associated Entities, Decisions to go to war, to accept/remove Signatories, Exceptions to rules, etc. The only time a Signatory will lack a vote is when the issue at vote specifically relates to the acceptance or removal of a Signatory. All votes will be concluded by Simple Majority. Article Six - Adherence Signatories agree to adhere to all Articles, Clauses, and obligations within as stated in this document. Failure to meet adherence, or to otherwise be a disruptive, hostile, or uncooperative member may result in a vote to remove Signatory status and eject the offender from the Bloc. Clause One of Article Six: Righteous Rebellion Events may occur wherein a strong reason is provided for the failure to adhere to this treaty. If Righteous Rebellion is claimed, a hearing and vote will occur to determine if this status is appropriate. This status may be appropriate if the Signatory activating obligations of the Treaty is behaving in an exceedingly destructive, toxic, or outlandish manner. This will also be applicable in the even a Signatory is found to have been feeding intelligence on the Bloc to outside parties, plotting with outside parties to take military action not sanctioned by the Bloc, or actions directly harming the Bloc. Article Seven - Supremacy All Signatories agree that the treaty established and signed here takes precedence over all other treaties which may be signed for any reason, particularly in the case where honoring said treaty would put Signatories in conflict with one another or wherein Associated Entities may enter conflict against one another where the Signatories choose not to take sides for any reason. Article Eight - Goodbyes In the event that any Signatory should wish to end their membership in the Bloc, they are free to do so for whatever reason, and may or may not state this at their own discretion. Exit from the Bloc will remain peaceful and cordial, and will be subject to a 120 hour cancellation period, as well as agreement to return any held resources or to continue payment of any held debts to any Signatory. 39. Currently, if you win a nation vs nation war, you have no dictation over what happens next. Often, the beige timer that your opponent is going to get will leave them better off than if you didn't win the war at all- especially if there's no money to loot. Instead, I would suggest that as part of the act of winning a war, the victor should be able to declare terms. These terms could include all the things that currently happen, and more (and these are just ideas and examples); Loot from the nation, Loot from the alliance bank, Not being able to declare new wars for a period of time, Enforced debt (i.e. a portion of the opponents tax income is taken and handed to the victor until it is paid off), Not being able to buy military units above a certain percentage for some time, Forcible conscription of some opposing surviving military units, Destruction of infrastructure, Destruction of improvements (at random, so we can't forcibly choose hangars or power plants). A beige timer would still exist, but the number of turns spent in beige would depend on the harshness of the terms inflicted. Therefore, if you won the war, and you chose to not attach terms, the beige timer should be relatively short (for example, 6 turns). If you won the war and decided to inflict as many terms as possible, the beige timer would be much longer. The value of the terms inflicted, and thus the length of the beige timer, should be capped at no more than the percentage of resistance you won the war by. If you won by 6 resistance or less, you wouldn't be able to select any terms; if you won by 20, you'd be able to select maybe one thing, if you won by 50, something harsher, etc. These changes are one possible idea, I'm sure there's other better ones to be thought of.

  40. by @Cynic So you're above 1,000 score and you think you're ready to take off on your own and forge through this world leading your own alliance. There's a lot more to starting an alliance than getting the score and hitting that "Create An Alliance" button. Here are some basics to creating an alliance that will help get you started. Step 1. Members If you're going to start an alliance you need to have a core starting membership and/or government. It's nearly impossible for any one man to completely run an alliance by himself. You're going to need help. Starting an alliance is easy with just a couple quick clicks. Building a successful alliance is exhausting and extremely time consuming. Don't do it alone. Build relationships with like minded players and go from there. I would recommend finding members with a range of experiences to fill the basic roles of an alliance (Internal Affairs, Economics, Military, and Foreign Affairs). Step 2. Choosing a Name, Theme & Flag This step isn't as important as some of the others but it can make a difference in some aspects of the alliance, especially recruitment.I would recommend staying away from generic names like "The United Nations" or overly used names like "The Mafia". Find a unique name that will attract new players and gives them an idea of who or what your alliance is about. You can also do this with a less obvious name and a good alliance description. Either way, this name or theme is what will identify you and your alliance. A Flag. This is another one of those things that might not necessarily be make or break but again it will identify your alliance and will be what every player (recruits or foreign visitors) will see when they visit your alliances page. Try to find an image or logo that symbolizes your alliances theme or name and is easily identifiable.Try to keep your flag clean and crisp and avoid too much lettering on your flags. You want to be able to recognize the flag whether it in large or small. You will want to start saving your ingame money (or purchase credits with donations) to be able to upload your alliance flag in game to be used by all of your members. As you can see from the two flags below, the top flag would be considered a "good" flag. You can still depict the symbol/logo even when shrunk down whereas the bottom flag its hard to decipher what exactly is even on the flag except the colors. Step 3. Establish a Charter Alright this is an important step here, so pay attention. A Charter is what will set the foundation for how your alliance operates. It will be used to determine laws, governing body, members rights and conduct of your members. Take your time on this. Make sure you don't get too verbose with it, because if you do no one will ever read it. Keep it short and sweet. Get to the point. Things you should include in your charter are: Your mission/purpose/intent List of your Governing Body & Their Powers What defines a member of your alliance How to amend the Charter Step 4. Appoint/Elect a Government You've got your core membership, your name and theme, and you have established a charter. Now it's time to appoint or elect the members of your governing body. This is where the differing experiences will come into play. Try to fit the experiences your members have in to the respective department to achieve the most successful results. (Ex: You have a player with significant war/raiding experience, you would try to put them into your Military Affairs department and not your Economic Affairs department). It may take time to adjust and you may have to move around positions from time to time to get the right person for the job. It happens more often than not in a new alliance until you find the best fit. Try to avoid doing this too much as to not give off the impression of instability, but if you need to make a slight change, then do what is best for your alliance. Step 5. Alliance Communications Establish how your alliance is going to communicate. The old days of forums are fading out (if not already) and the days of real time communication like Discord and/or Slack are the new upcoming gaming communication systems with Discord being the most popular. To create a Discord server, head over to https://discordapp.com/ and either download the Desktop App or Use the browser version. There are plenty of youtube videos to show you how to create a server and manage channels and roles. Step 6. Protectorate Treaty A protectorate treaty is an agreement between a larger scale alliance and a new alliance (such as yours) in which the larger alliance agrees to protect you from unprovoked aggression while you settle in and grow. I would recommend looking to one of the top 20-25 alliances for protection as they have more means to be able to actually assist your alliance with guides, grants and loans, and of course military protection. Having a protectorate will help you avoid "raiders". Raiders are players who will declare war and destroy your nation in an effort to steal your cash and resources. Step 7. Declaring Your Existence Once you have completed the above steps you are ready to launch your new alliance. One of the most important parts of launching your alliance is what like to call the "Declaration of Existence". This is your opening post and your chance to make a good first impression to the rest of the game. You always want to make that post in the Alliance Affairs forum here. Be sure to include all the information above (Flag, Discord Server, Government, and Protectorate). Make your first impression as good a one as possible. Expect and avoid the trolls that are sure to come give you flak. Some are even going to attempt to discourage you. It's going to happen. Be professional and respectful and prove them wrong. Step 8. Recruiting Now its time to hit the recruiting trail. There are many different ways you can do this. Some alliances send manual messages to new nations as they join and some alliances use automated bots to do the job for them. There are also other ways you can advertise your alliance including: Alliance Recruitment sub-forum P&W Discord Recruitment Channel (#recruitment) Player Created Advertisements (Ads cost 1 Credit)
