  1. Limit posts (edit: topic) to one per 48hrs on alliance affairs, alliances like the originals are annoying

  2. After hours of stand-off b/w Empyrea and The Originals, we hereby surrender to the forces of Empyrea and apologize for attacking them. It was our mistake and we stand corrected. From the posting of this, all hostilities b/w us has ceased to exist. No new wars shall be declared. Any ongoing wars might be finished/peaced out/expired depending on the wishes of the members involved. This extends to Empyrea and its allies, as well as us and any of our allies who were involved in the wars. On a more personal note, I myself am extremely sorry for the spam of threads, I never wanted this to happen and feel like we are just exaggerating so please just let me get this post out and ill be on my way to purgatory. Have a great night/day everyone!

  4. The maximum revenue generated in a game with max upgrades and two 100 rated teams is ~$127,710 ~$28,000. There are some players playing over 30,000 games a day. Even if they're averaging half of that, that's ~$1.5b ~$420m generated in a day, just playing baseball. And quite possibly with a script that at this point there's really not a way to effectively block (of course, I'm looking into that.) I'm not planning on removing baseball, but I do think that earnings need to be nerfed, and there needs to be a dropoff point so that people aren't playing 30,000 games a day. That's one game every 2.7 seconds for 24 hours straight. Does no one else think that's ridiculous? I'm also going to look at more effective captchas, rate limiting games to one per 10 seconds or something, and better detection for scripters. But I still can't believe that popular sentiment is pro leaving baseball the way it is (completely gamebreaking, in my opinion.) And I am aware that there have been some organized downvote brigades against this post already.

  5. At this time, I've re-enabled Baseball with some changes: Increased security on reCAPTCHA for verifying if human. This applies to baseball, trading, and the game in general when it occasionally asks you to fill out a CAPTCHA. Baseball earnings after 1,000 games have already been played for the day will only generate 10% of the normal revenue for home games. The winning team’s revenue is not affected by this. There is now a rate limit on baseball games. You can only play a game once every 5 seconds. This restriction should be non-binding for the vast majority of players. It effectively caps the number of games played per day at 16,800.

  6. I did receive a copy of that document a long time ago, and apparently did not look too closely. Here's a copy for public record: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kYdhMaqYJ-yJHHubxJytSEKVX_NCKRLvObhS_GsCyZA/edit?usp=sharing Looking at the extension listed https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/im-not-robot-captcha-clic/ceipnlhmjohemhfpbjdgeigkababhmjc it seems that captchas are basically ineffective, and I have no way to tell who is and who isn't botting. It's very likely that all of the people playing thousands of games a day are lying and they are using bots to play baseball. I don't really see a choice at this point but to completely nerf baseball. Otherwise, everyone is going to bot it for free money and destroy the game. We will also need to look at a difference solution for other places where captchas are used in-game. REMINDER: This is not a discussion forum. Please continue the related discussion here:

  8. Upvotes and downvotes are intended to prevent posters from making 1-liner "I support this!" and "you suck" replies, as well as encourage players to provide quality posting. Unfortunately, with the way the game is right now, I am wondering if upvotes and downvotes are now too politicized. For instance, Recognition of Hostilities threads end up getting downvoted to indicate that "WE WANT YOU DEAD!, an intent that has nothing to do with encouraging good posting or discouraging bad posting. One suggestion I have is simply to remove downvotes. Good posts that people like or agree with do deserve karma bonuses, but posts that people disagree with, in part because of their political affiliation, are no longer punished. This will, of course, encourage forum spam and bad posting, but on the other hand, I think people are now beginning to use the "Report Post" button more aggressively. I assume that by complaining about the karma system, I will get downvoted tremendously, but I've never been overly concerned about my karma record. === I'd also point out that on other forums I use, there's a "like" feature, but no "dislike" feature. I.e, bad posters are identified by low post/like ratios, but not negative Karma. IIRC, Facebook moved to a similar system, wherein you can now thumbs up posts but not thumbs down them. Reddit uses +- karma, but Reddit I'd argue is somewhat less prone to toxicity than PnW (two sides constantly battling here) and that moderators usually remove highly toxic posters. === One final factor I'd point out is that downvoting creates disincentives to be controversial. One side of the present political environment believes the other side has forums control. Every post they make tends to get downvoted, because they disagree with the other political side. Certain strong posters get downvoted very rarely, but posters who match the average of the other side tend to get aggressively downvoted despite having good reputations in other games. In order to have a good upvoting history, the following factors are crucial: -Don't spam -Make quality posts -Make posts that favor the political views of the most forum active members / members most inclined to downvote. The third criteria shouldn't be necessary; if you don't spam and make quality posts, you should have good karma histories no matter which side you're on.

  12. Firstly, this is most definitely a no-discussion forum. Seeing as this topic was created with "debate" in mind - I can't see much good coming from it to begin with. Secondly, regarding moderation as a weapon: The moderators act out of their own judgement(s) and free wills. Reporting someone does not automatically accrue anything against them. Every report is reviewed by (usually two but sometimes more) humans and a consensus is reached before warnings are issued. So have no fear, no matter how many spam reports we receive, no one will receive a warning unless a forum rule is being broken in the reported post(s). As a side note, I've seen a lot of reports and posts regarding moderation as a weapon / mods being shady / rules and warnings being unclear... I'm a fan of transparency so I try to communicate as much as possible regarding our processes and decisions. Feel free to DM me if you have questions or comments.

  13. Nation Link: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=70736 Ruler Name: Galerion, Blighty Nature of Violation: Blatant scripting/botting in baseball for the last several months No one in the history of the game has come close to his baseball earnings because no one that actually plays the games can play that many games. I did a lot of little tests and he's been scripting/botting for sure. I play away games, meaning I see who plays my games and when. Yesterday, Blighty was playing home games like he normally does (for hours at a time with little or no breaks). Here's the test: I'd stop for 10 minutes, come back and no one else played aways for those ten minutes because Blighty had hit 0 other games, but he'd be there and host another game one second after I played his queued home game, meaning he had a script running auto-playing games. No one in their right mind would brainlessly keep refreshing for 10 minutes if they hit literally 0 games that whole time and I did this test multiple times in one day. "I was the only one running aways I looked at this baseball logs right He stopped getting games after I stopped for like 30 minutes, he only played a few vs people who just cleared the aways queue but he had one in the home queue right when I started back up, and right after I played his game he hosted another one So basically he's leaving his script on and not caring anymore He didn't bother checking for a full half hour to stop it because no one was playing anymore there's 0 fricking chance he just sat there trying to host games for 35 minutes and kept doing it without getting any games also 0 chance he was just miraculously there to immediately host another game when I started up again (we know he was spamming homes because he played a few odd games against other people, like 6-8 games in 30 minutes)" I've personally had Blighty embargoed for a long time because I was suspicious of his cheating due to the sheer volume of games he played. I recently unembargoed him and I'm virtually certain of it now. There's a reason he's far and away the highest money earned from baseball in the game, even more than Who Me, who's self-professed playing six hours a day for more than four years. If you remove those two from the top money earned all time list, there's no one that has even half as much money earned. Others can and have attested to similar suspicious behavior.

  14. Would anyone be interested in making a cooking discord channel with me? One of my biggest hobbies is cooking and when you talk with other people who cook a lot you can learn plenty of little things they've learned from stuff they've made in the past. The channel would primarily be about sharing recipes and how to cook a dish, sharing photos of stuff, talking about restaurants and what not, and even cocktails. If there's even a handful of people interested I'd be down to set something up, we can even do like a weekly dish "This week lets try and make homemade Tikka Masala" or something. The Treaty of Astra Preamble The Signatories of this document come together, to observe in unison, the articles detailed within, and carry out those obligations listed to the fullest extent. The name “Astra” of an ancient lost language, meaning “Weapon”. A weapon is a forged instrument of precision, engineering, and countless failures required to produce a tried and tested tool. The Signatories hereof, abandon their roots to enter The Forge. Articles Article One - Sword and Shield Doctrine Mutual Defense, Mutual Aggression (MDAP). The Signatories of this treaty agree to stand unmoved, whether occasion be defense from any attack, or aggression for any reason deemed necessary. Clause One of Article One: Noble Combat Defense or Aggression obligations can be waived and circumvented ONLY in the case where all engaged parties waive these obligations. Other Signatories may choose to obligate regardless, thus returning this obligation to the others. Clause Two of Article One: Intelligence All Signatories are required to share intelligence gathered or given to them in the event that said intelligence pertains to security and interests of the bloc or one of its Signatories. How or if this information is acted upon is up to the discretion of the recipient. Article Two - Seven Nation Army The Signatories of this document agree to a structure of unified command. All Signatories will maintain their domestic rankings and responsibilities, however, the Bloc itself shall have a command structure made up of the Signatories’ own domestic personnel. These will be appointed positions separated into two categories of High and Low Command. Positions of High Command will be vetted and appointable by a council of the Signatories Leadership and High Government. Low Command will be vetted and appointable by a council of the Government, including low gov, of all Signatories. Appointment and vetting will be based upon merit, availability, and willingness. High Command shall be comprised of the Unified Forces Commander in Chief (UFCC), assisted Unified Forces Commanders (UFC). Low Command Shall be comprised of Unified Forces Officers. Clause One of Article Two: Emergency Situations, all Government of all Signatories will have training and minor experience relating to their level (high, low) in their domestic alliance. Article Three - Independent Arms The Signatories of this document agree to and recognize the inalienable right to sovereignty of domestic affairs of all Signatory alliances. Affairs of Internal, Economic, or Foreign concern are left to the discretion of each Signatory, Military Affairs will remain as a Joint-Command between all Signatories as listed in Article Two. Article Four - No Chains All Signatories agree to refrain from signing frivolous treaties with non-Signatories. It is entirely permissible for any Signatory at any time to bring forward a recommendation for either an alliance to become a Signatory or for said alliance to become an Associated Entity to the Bloc. Associated Entities may take the form of any treaty so long as this treaty and the Associated Entity status is agreed on by vote as listed in Article Five. Clause One of Article Four: Leaving the Nest Signatories are permitted, if they so desire, to have and maintain a relationship with a Protector. This option should be reserved for the smallest and most inexperienced members to provide further opportunity to learn from many perspectives. Clause Two of Article Four: Taking Flight In the event a Signatory has grown to sufficient size to no longer seek the aid of a protector, or such time that the Bloc has grown and organized itself to a sufficient point of maintaining defense, Signatories may bring forward a proposed treaty upgrade to be voted upon as an Associated Entity Treaty. Furthermore, Signatories also have the choice to upgrade their Protector treaty and leave the Bloc if either party is unwilling, or if a vote to accept an Associated Entity Treaty fails, to stay with their former protector, or to leave regardless to seek their own way. An upgrade may also be permitted in the form of a strict MnDoAP, which will apply ONLY to the direct Signatory and no other members of the Bloc, Provided that the number of these treaties in total to the Bloc are limited to a number no greater than 3, until otherwise changed per voting in Article 5. Protector/Protectorate relationships with outside powers will always be treated as the one-way MDPs they are intended, so as to avoid a clash with the Bloc’s current interests or with Associated Entities. If such a conflict does not occur, expansion is to the discretion of the Signatories. Clause Three of Article Four: Guarding the Young In the event that a Signatory of suitable size to no longer require a protector seeks to protect others themselves, such interests should be brought forward to vote by the Signatories. All protectorates will be of the Bloc as a whole, and not of individual alliances. This will guarantee a new level of exposure to learning opportunities, as well as support and protection. Alliances interested in becoming Signatories which possess protectorates they wish to keep will require the protectorates signature on the appropriate Bloc treaty detailing terms and to pass a vote. Article Five - A Voice For All All Signatories will be entitled to a vote on Bloc matters requiring one. This includes Protectorates, Associated Entities, Decisions to go to war, to accept/remove Signatories, Exceptions to rules, etc. The only time a Signatory will lack a vote is when the issue at vote specifically relates to the acceptance or removal of a Signatory. All votes will be concluded by Simple Majority. Article Six - Adherence Signatories agree to adhere to all Articles, Clauses, and obligations within as stated in this document. Failure to meet adherence, or to otherwise be a disruptive, hostile, or uncooperative member may result in a vote to remove Signatory status and eject the offender from the Bloc. Clause One of Article Six: Righteous Rebellion Events may occur wherein a strong reason is provided for the failure to adhere to this treaty. If Righteous Rebellion is claimed, a hearing and vote will occur to determine if this status is appropriate. This status may be appropriate if the Signatory activating obligations of the Treaty is behaving in an exceedingly destructive, toxic, or outlandish manner. This will also be applicable in the even a Signatory is found to have been feeding intelligence on the Bloc to outside parties, plotting with outside parties to take military action not sanctioned by the Bloc, or actions directly harming the Bloc. Article Seven - Supremacy All Signatories agree that the treaty established and signed here takes precedence over all other treaties which may be signed for any reason, particularly in the case where honoring said treaty would put Signatories in conflict with one another or wherein Associated Entities may enter conflict against one another where the Signatories choose not to take sides for any reason. Article Eight - Goodbyes In the event that any Signatory should wish to end their membership in the Bloc, they are free to do so for whatever reason, and may or may not state this at their own discretion. Exit from the Bloc will remain peaceful and cordial, and will be subject to a 120 hour cancellation period, as well as agreement to return any held resources or to continue payment of any held debts to any Signatory. Appendices Appendix 1 - Signatories For North Point: Akuryo For The Coal Mines: Nokia Rokia Evernt For Weebunism: Empiur For Brotherhood of the Clouds: Dusty For Golden Phoenix Coalition: Minesome MC For Amestris: Piss Face The first order of business will be to get a better flag. It's too bland for my liking. Well, actually it'll be reviewing protectorates, but the flag is #2 on the list i assure you. 17. The maximum revenue generated in a game is 25k. Not $127,710. No one is playing 30k games a day, unless they are cheating. Ban them. 100% of players aren't even playing that many games. So you are wanting to punish the majority for the minority, of which no one actually plays 30k a day so you are wanting to punish players for no reason. At what point does keno winnings, trade arbitrage profits become ridiculous? The reason so many are up in arms against this suggestion is we play baseball for fun and for additional cash. The time required to make a decent sum is substantial enough. We have also invested plenty of cash into baseball. The vast majority have followed the rules. Furthermore a 10 sec delay would be ridiculous. It's not like games get played instantly. It all depends on the speed of the away player.

  18. More effective captchas would be a welcome change in general, not just for baseball. Limiting the total baseball profits per day in one way or another isn't a horrible idea, but please make it an effective limit on the number of games and not the profits per game. If the point is to discourage botting or large amounts of time sunk into a grinding mechanic as well as to lower baseball profits, then you'd want fewer clicks anyway. Plus, fewer clicks would decrease server load.

  19. I try really hard to be supportive and say more positive things than negative things about game changes. I know Alex's job is very hard and he's never going to make everyone happy and he catches a lot of undeserved flak. We all owe him just for having this game to play in the first place. So with the point that I really, really don't want to be a whiner: This is bone headed. If there is suspected cheating, suspend the suspected cheaters rather than suspending baseball for everyone. ESPECIALLY in the middle of a big war, when the precedent is to postpone changes until after the war so you don't undermine anyone's strategy or be potentially biased towards one side.

  26. Difference being that BK’s logs weren’t hypothetical, they were Sphinx saying “Hey, we’ve planned our war, we know when we’ll hit, we know who’s hitting who, start stockpiling nukes.” Our discussions were more like “‘What if NPO attacks us? That’d be bad wouldn’t it be?’ ‘Yeah but I expect them to keep their word.’” And BK was planning to hit us, their discussions were not “What if Chaos hit us?” You’re trying way too hard to spin discussing a hypothetical scenario that had a very real possibility of playing out (and did play out!) as being a bad thing, when it’s just common sense. We never had any plans to hit NPO offensively. If there’s a huge alliance that you historically haven’t had good relations with and they are sitting out this huge war, have historically good relations with your opponents, and have shown hints of aggression, it would be very naive to just not make a plan on what to do if they were to hit you. I’m certain that NPO has planned what they would do if BK Sphere hit them. Or perhaps they didn’t need to because they knew BK would never hit them because they had to fight upper tier consolidation.

  30. I'm gonna bite on this one because it really isn't even close to the same and you really should be able to see that: Scenario 1: Adrienne is asked how she would respond to being attacked by N$O. I imagine she said she'd fight? Cus what else do you do? If someone says, "Hey Hodor, how are you gonna react to Tiberius smacking you in the face?", And I respond with "I'll smack them back." You can't say I was plotting to smack you in the face. Or well, you can, but you'd be making no sense. Scenario 2: BK and co actively plot an aggressive war on CHAOS. So uh, that seems pretty clearly different? So either you're spinning harder than Charlotte, or we've just got a case of reading too quickly and comprehending too slowly.
