  2. I'm going to have to disagree with quite a bit of what you said, Tiberius. Insofar as the concept of minispheres is concerned, both size and isolation are relevant. It was intentioned to be ancillary support for multi-polarity, as opposed to bipolarity, which is where your confusion stems from. A world where there are more than two sides, we call multipolar. That has nothing to do with size or military/economic might - the concept of minispheres propagates a world wherein there are more than just two concentrations of power and that they do not maintain an overwhelming advantage over another. No, they do not all have to be equal, and frankly the risk of expansion from any one sphere in terms of power consolidation was always a risk, which every leader was aware of. Isolation mattered because it allowed minispheres the agency to do so as they pleased - the good and bad came along with that free agency. Isolation does not imply a complete lack of willingness to cooperate and work with other minispheres. It expects that there be no long term relationship between any two groupings that would be acted upon regardless of the circumstances. The most problematic failing of this concept was that it demanded a rapid shift in interpersonal dynamics between leaders, and more specifically, a willingness to set aside the past. Cypher is most correct when he says that this war was horrible for this concept. I would not go so far as to say our alliance's intervention led to bipolarity, as I am led to believe both are war time political constructs and not long standing ones, but it did not do good, and the longer this war continues, the stronger the chances of this world coming down to bipolarity become. As for Chaos and KETOG teaming up, that was the single most reasonable course of action they could have taken, and I'm not going to fault them for it. I expect that you will not, either. You would have a point regarding Rose's involvement, but that seems to have been largely overlooked, so I won't bother with that for now. As an aside, I know I'm going to be ripped to hell and back for this. You're most welcome to poke me on Discord if you wish to.

I don't hate anyone here in the game, I love my SOUP people they are some of the greatest friends I have here, Akuryo im sure is a nice person too - this is all IC as it should be. 7. Why not use the tags feature instead of trying to make it included in the title? It distracts from the announcement else.

  8. Yes, I have a concern. This is horrible for purposes of creativity, and makes alliance threads look incredibly sterile. That people have found clever ways to name their announcements and threads should be encouraged as it adds taste and flavour to the game. A far superior method of accomplishing organization would be to give players the ability to add forum tags to threads, like so: E: Surely you mean 'Thread', and not 'Threat'?

  10. Has anyone stopped to think about all of the news coming out of Coalition B recently? BK forces all the protectorates into war. NPO attacks OFA from their own coalition. Commerce Union disbanded because of their "buddies" in Coalition B. - I mean how thick do you have to be to forcefully disband a coalition buddy? The Originals were forced to cancel their MDP with House of Arryn, so that Coalition B could attack AH. Micros from Coalition B have peaced out and found new protectorates. As a result Coalition B has attacked them. NPO having to defend BK, because apparently IQ never disbanded. TFP (Coalition B ) peaces out after extensive losses. BK lets them rebuild infra and attacks with no casus belli. Lets just all remind few simple things here about who Coalition B is fighting: An enemy half their size Made up of alliances who quite literally a week before this global war were at war among themselves. What are you guys doing there? Suffering under reign of terror? Seeking couples counseling? How can anyone get away with that much and still keep half a coalition together?

  14. Greetings! In my infinite majesty I, Emperor Wushu of the Roz Wei Celestial Empire, have come before you to state our divine rulership. Being such a legendary and admired figure, I am sure people the world over already know my exploits, however if you are ignorant and wish to learn of them... or know but wish to further enrapture yourself in my greatness then please do read the Legend of Rozalia. We live in times of chaos where lands that rightfully belong to I, the Son of Heaven, are plundered by bandits, rebels, and barbarians. As such Roz Wei has given tribute to the tribe of Arrgh to help us fight such menaces. Ogaden, leader of Arrgh, for this service is granted the title "King of Arrgh". We have an extensive code in Roz Wei that is 12 volumes long, however knowing the... simplicity, of those outside our borders we have given an explanation of each so everyone may grasp their purpose. If you believe yourself worthy of the honour of serving I, he who rules all under heaven, then you need to only travel to the Imperial Court in my Celestial Palace and pledge your allegiance. If you wish to dialogue with Roz Wei for your people then come to my Celestial Palace, and I in my infinite benevolence, shall grant you a stay in my opulent Guest House... but be warned. I always have a boiling pot ready to throw in any diplomats who displease me.

I have no idea why you keep saying it’s not invincible as akuryo posted 20 nukes for just 1 city is kind of invincible. What do you mean by reset city 1. This change is to put an end to unlimited supply of RSS and not for the benefit of one sphere or other.

  16. Not sure if you're kidding, but this is what I was referring to https://npowned.net/pw-war-statistics/conflict/12. We are winning by 303 billion dollars Some of our top guys have dropped military, and I believe we have kicked people who were ignoring orders, as any serious alliance would. Again, alliance score is not necessarily indicative of a whole lot. Are you actually seriously claiming to be winning because of our chart? If we were to accept a bunch of totally inactive applicants and boost our score, would you say we were "coming back"? BTW, this war we became first in score again, 5 years after Rose initially topped the alliance rankings. No other alliance has that much lasting success.

  18. To clarify, you're trying to paint us as the bad guys here when you got caught planning a war against us, called in your protectorates to defend you when you got hit for it, and, when it turned out your protectorates didn't want to fight for as long as you did, attacked our protectorates to try and force peace for them. But we're the bad guys for not letting you blackmail us into peacing people out?

  20. Look at @Curufinwetrying to spin that narrative and attempting to make TKR look bad. What would happen if those alliances posted up the messages you sent them for peace? Its a good strat and attempt, but... they also didn’t have to sign TKR either. The fact they signed and remained in the war shows that your strat failed (which later forced you to attack your own allies to “teach em a lesson” lol). Seriously, why would any one sign BK or NPO at this point?

  24. I hate it when allies argue on the forums, even more so when I’m the one arguing with allies, but what you’ve just said has got to be the most stupidest thing I’ve read in a long time and you should feel bad about that since Inst is still around. A bit of context, you realise NPO, tS and HS all came together to form a mini sphere, yes? We wanted to break the bipolarity of Orbis and encourage more smaller, localised wars. BK in itself is not a mini sphere. It’s size and bloated corpse of dead alliances goes against what the rest of the game is preaching. It’s a sphere that could rival EMC in its prime due to sheer numbers, so what hope would a fragmented potion of it have? It would have taken the combined alliances of Chaos, KERTOG and N$O to actually compete with BK on a one to one level and stand a good chance of winning. Now do you see how your alliance’s intervention has led the world back into bipolarity? It wouldn’t surprise me if Chaos and KERTOG, along with a few newfound allies, are forced to work with each other in the next couple global wars if you keep going through with your hypocritical Kayser doctrine that you’d intervene in any dogpiles, but of course only you’re allowed to do that. God forbid any other alliance do so, they should have just sat there and taken their beating.

  25. What the frick did you just fricking say about Max, you stupid micro? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class at the KERTOG academy for people who take stats too seriously, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on IQ and peoples forum reputation, and I have over 300000 confirmed downvotes. I am trained in internet warfare and I'm the top shitposter in the entire KERTOG forces (Minus TGH, because nothing will surpass their saltiness.... maybe FARK though). You are nothing to me but just another IQ slave. I will wipe you the frick out with my forum ramblings the likes of which has never been seen before on Orbis, mark my fricking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, slave. As we speak I am contacting Buorhann and his radio show to make up a new excuse about how my side is actually winning and that Abbas hasn't gone inactive after getting Rose killed in another war and is just doing a reserve Fekley, so you better prepare for that storm, slave. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your alliance. You're fricking dead, slave. I can be online anywhere, anytime and I can destroy your reputation in over seven hundred ways, including complaining to Alex about you and if that fails I'll get triggered at memes on the forums, and that's just with my own account. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, and will make you waste gasoline and munitions since most of us don't have a military anymore (But ignore that since we can still win. Anyone who says otherwise is a Roq shill). But I have access to whats left of the entire arsenal of the KERTOG coalition (Minus Chaos cause they don't like me) and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable indentured servitude existence that you call a life off the face of Orbis, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your well through out, funny and "clever" memes was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have kept the truth to yourself. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn BK slave. I will shit downvotes all over you and you will drown in it. You're fricking dead, slave.

  26. let them stockpile their nukes, it just artificially inflates their score.
    1 point
  27. If anything, the main bottleneck for being a nuke turret is cash, as far as I've found. At extreme low infra levels, you can indeed build nukes/missiles, but you have to scrounge up the cash and refined materials somehow anyway. If I'm not mistaken, you need to be out of bill lock to launch the nukes/missiles? Ground battles can usually get around the cash issue, but even then you need to be out of bill lock and have a ground force. As for the refined material, a dedicated blockade can eventually sap the refined materials needed to produce the missiles/nukes, and since you can't produce refined materials under bill lock that's also a bottleneck. But then, looking at your suggested fixes, I feel like I might be misinterpreting your concerns... you're worried about nuke/missile stockpiling? To even fire those, you need to pay the upkeep for them for one turn AFAIK. They add score, sure, but other than Fraggle who spent literal years diligently producing her stockpiles to the point of being unable to actually declare on anyone, that's not going to actually affect anything in an unbalanced fashion. I always caution people against over-stockpiling nukes/missiles due to the score inflation that causes. Besides, they're vulnerable to spies. Tl;dr: I don't think the proposed changes are necessary or warranted.

  31. I had a more elaborate post written up as to address the - somewhat valid, honestly - points you made, but my clumsy fingers deleted all of it (and then reloaded, so I can't even CTRL+Z, rip). Sorry for the delay. There seem to be two primary concerns you have: That (primarily new) players who frequent the forums are unable to understand what threads in Alliance Affairs are about, That tags will be used in other sections of the forum. While I agree with the idea that the integration of new players in the overall Orbis community is a good thing, I fundamentally disagree with the idea that, most, or even a significant amount of, threads are confusing. If a player were to read the first post, and then the few posts that come after, you would find no shortage of explanations with regards to the content of the thread. Moreover, some threads are intentionally confusing, and forcing players to add tags in their thread title - which, I suppose, is your prerogative, as is my duty to argue for what I believe in - simply make the point of those threads (to confuse and bedazzle) irrelevant. In my opinion, threads that are confusing to new players will largely seem so because they lack in-game knowledge and/or context, not that they aren't clear in their message. Let us look at the past, hm, 15 threads in this subforum. This thread is announcing the cancellation of a treaty. It says so in its first three lines. This thread is announcing the existence of a new alliance (it gives a tl;dr too) and the posts that follow make that point abundantly clear. This thread has some flavour content in the beginning, and explains what it's about in the last line of the post. This thread is Inst being weird Hyperion announcing their 'bonds' program and giving a somewhat lengthy explanation of what that implies. This thread, while somewhat hard to understand due to - presumably - the OP's level of mastery of the language, announces fairly clearly that they are recognizing a state of hostilities with BK and are confused as to why this happened. This thread is a DoW and contains the target's name in the first paragraph. This thread wouldn't fit your rules anyway, but I am including this to highlight my point about cultural references and why confusion will persist unless players actively attempt to integrate themselves within the community. It's a log dump that is fairly straightforward, however. This thread explains its contents in the title, anyway. This thread very clearly explains its purpose. This thread, yeeaahhh, we weren't too sure what was going on here either (It's a collection of inside jokes and memes that have gone for too long to explain just by the use of a tag, and is meant to be confusing) This thread says what it's about in the title. It's also meant to be 'confusing' (if anyone checks the alliance affiliation it would be clear as to what happened). This thread, while yet another part in a very long sequence of inside jokes/memes, lays its jokes out pretty clearly. This is the sort of funny thing that would be marred, not going to go so far as to say it would be ruined, by the usage of title tags. This thread was just click-bait. It didn't serve any purpose, as was explained a few posts down. This thread is hilarious and adds cultural flavour because it's "confusing" (it says exactly what it's about, people just need to read). Also, if you scroll down below you'll see further explanation. This thread is Sketchy posting Polaris' failure in guarding their bank. It provides an altered flag, a screenshot of the bank loot, and text to... explain it. My point is, the vast majority of the threads that people are 'confused by' are either spam, meant to be confusing (when in reality it takes only a bit of inferring to understand what they're about), or abundantly clear, they just don't say it in their thread title. If new players are confused with what is being said, they should, well, read the posts that come after the OP. More often than not it explains the thread's purpose quite clearly. As for the second concern I laid out in the beginning of this (now somewhat lengthy) post, there are three possible outcomes to tags being used out of this subforum: They spam tags, in which case a one minute edit by mods is all that is needed to remove those tags, They add one or two tags, which... isn't actually a problem. Why would it be? They don't use the tags, which is fine. Anyway, my point with this all is that it seems like artificial spoon feeding that won't accomplish anything but actually remove the one incentive players have to integrate themselves in communities (to understand what the frick is going on in Orbis).

  36. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand House Arryn. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical politics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Serva's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Google translate's literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike House Arryn truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Serva's existential forum post," which itself is a cryptic reference to IQ's Knightfall. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Serva's wit unfolds itself on their forum pages. What fools.. how I pity them. ? And yes, by the way, i DO have a House Arryn tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 score of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid ?

  37. Using http instead of https for Imgur usually fixes it. What I believe is happening is that Imgur doesn't want to play image host for us, and they've blocked their images from showing on politicsandwar.com. For some reason though, http images usually work. I would recommend just hosting your images somewhere else (Discord, snag.gy, or another side.) It's on my to-do list to eventually convert the VIP images to being hosted directly on the P&W site, but the former should be an alright fix in the mean time.

  39. What makes you think wars would be shorter instead of being the same length and the gaps between global wars longer? In theory, wars can be as long or short as players want. We could have shorter wars now with smaller warchests, but we don't. Unless players fundamentally change the length of time they want or expect to fight wars, they will require warchests to cover the same length of time. And if wars are more expensive, that means larger warchests, which requires longer periods of peace to rebuild between wars. This has been a problem in the past, which is why I bring it up again now to make sure we don't repeat old mistakes.
    1 point
  40. One concern I have about this idea is that I think it may drastically increase the necessary warchests for alliances to be willing to go to war. If you need to have enough cash on hand to rebuy your infra to stay in a war for more than a short while, that suddenly becomes a ton of cash necessary. Such massive increases in necessary warchests may seriously prolong the periods of "peace" between global wars in the game.
    1 point
  41. I'd say a no on the reducing military improvements operating efficiency. If your infra is bombed that much you're already struggling with slashed buy limits. People already build their infra up to avoid this anyway, or at I certainly did. The rest of it seems alright. Commerce is usually considered the income one uses to keep fighting the war so having that cut down would be interesting. Doesn't seem to unintentionally benefit on tier either. Whales already can rebuild their infra to max rebuy longer than most people so it doesn't change much, especially as I doubt they'd go high enough to use their inprovements.

  42. Hello boys and girls, today we're going to be investigating a dark side of the Orbis-verse, filled with all kinds of dark mysteries and scary propositions. Syndisphere periphery.. So here we have The Syndicate: A bold and beautiful alliance, no doubt. The only thing more green than their theme is their treaty screen. But! ..you might say.. This is nothing new? We always knew about the Syndicate's infatuation for protectorates. Ah! Well that's where.. you'd be wrong young adventurer. Here we have Dark Brotherhood, an alliance protected by the Syndicate. No doubt, another bold and beautiful alliance. Now our dear DB protects the Church of Atom. ...which is also protected by the Syndicate. So Syndicate has a protectorate which protects their protectorate. But wait.. You think we were done? The Church of Atom protects Alpha. So the Syndicate not only likes when their protectorates protect their protectorates, they also like when the protectorates protected by their protectorates which they protect, also have protectorates. But we're not even done yet... Alpha protects the Animal Farm ..Which is also protected by Church of Atom. So not only does the Syndicate like when the protectorates protected by their protectorates which they protect also have protectorates, they also like when the protectorates protected by their protectorates which they also protect have protectorates which have protectorates that they protect. Oh yeah.. and the protectorates protected by their protectorates which they also protect that have protectorates which have protectorates that they protect have a random MDoAP with TRF, just to make things more clear. if you listen into the distance you can clearly hear dying hyperventilating hippo sounds. So finally, this is what this rabbit hole looks like:
