  1. Greetings Brothers, I bring good news from the battlefield. The Fake Polaris heretics are suffering defeat after defeat at the hands of the warriors of The True Polaris and her allies in The True The Vanguard. Morale within the heretics ranks is at an all time low, and they have begun to stop logging in, regressing to their natural state. Unfortunately for them, we have in one such case, taken advantage of their complacency. Brother Theodosius has led a successful raid on the supply lines of The Fake Polaris heretics, robbing them of their valuables and trinkets. With their allies leaving them one by one, and now this crippling blow, it is only a matter of time before the heretics break, and surrender to our superiority.

  3. Well, you see, It's really funny that Polaris let their bank get stolen so easily. In fact, I would say it was to easy. It's also quite a coincidence that this would happen right after TUE pulls out, and TUE and Polaris are close allies. Now, maybe Polaris can't pull out of the war the same way TUE did because Polaris is even closer to NPO. But, that doesn't mean they can't 'help out' in other ways. Also, now that the money is in KT, I'm very curious to see where it goes from here. Might end up in some interesting hands.

  6. From the Desk of the Best Fraggle, Fraggisan Fraggle. Greetings Friends!! A hearty hello and hug is deserved to the great nations of Orbis. And a fistful of pennies to the face of the others. Fraggle Rock is going strong, per usual. Food is on the rebound. Nukes and missiles are being built. Life is good down here. Now onto the super urgent alliance news. With the authority given to me, by myself, I Fraggisan Fraggle am now the newly appointed Minister of Honest To God Information (MHGI) for Terminal Jest. In this new role, I will oversee all information put out by this alliance and make sure it is reasonable true, to the best of our efforts. My first action in this capacity, is to appoint of my lover, Partiggle, becoming the Minister of Less Honest To God Information (LHGI). This role is mainly ceremonial. An ego stroke. I need to do it because Partiggle has tapes. We agreed not to record everything, but here we are, me giving out no show jobs to my lover. As you can see, this is a top notch operation. Run by quality people. As such, we are offering an exciting new concept: Treaty Membership. If not formal, basically very informal. But for the low price of 9 million dollars down, you can become an associate member*. Onto greater news. It has come to my attention that we are missing a badger. No idea what this means, but if you have a loose badger, and don't know what to do, send it back. I wish you all well. Have a great day. Many Hugs, Fraggisan Fraggle *9 million dollars is for the 7 day trial period. Afterwards, you will be charged 49 million dollars a week, unless you cancel. Any cancellation request will require a 60 day cancellation period in where you become the property of Terminal Jest. Not all cancellation requests will be approved. If rejected, you will revert into associate membership with a 79 million dollars surcharge. Addition restrictions apply.

  20. Currently, if you win a nation vs nation war, you have no dictation over what happens next. Often, the beige timer that your opponent is going to get will leave them better off than if you didn't win the war at all- especially if there's no money to loot. Instead, I would suggest that as part of the act of winning a war, the victor should be able to declare terms. These terms could include all the things that currently happen, and more (and these are just ideas and examples); Loot from the nation, Loot from the alliance bank, Not being able to declare new wars for a period of time, Enforced debt (i.e. a portion of the opponents tax income is taken and handed to the victor until it is paid off), Not being able to buy military units above a certain percentage for some time, Forcible conscription of some opposing surviving military units, Destruction of infrastructure, Destruction of improvements (at random, so we can't forcibly choose hangars or power plants). A beige timer would still exist, but the number of turns spent in beige would depend on the harshness of the terms inflicted. Therefore, if you won the war, and you chose to not attach terms, the beige timer should be relatively short (for example, 6 turns). If you won the war and decided to inflict as many terms as possible, the beige timer would be much longer. The value of the terms inflicted, and thus the length of the beige timer, should be capped at no more than the percentage of resistance you won the war by. If you won by 6 resistance or less, you wouldn't be able to select any terms; if you won by 20, you'd be able to select maybe one thing, if you won by 50, something harsher, etc. These changes are one possible idea, I'm sure there's other better ones to be thought of.

  22. Hey @Frawley. Is there something weird going on with the stats? We noticed that over the last couple days, there seem to be wars missing from the global war stats that are in the all-time stats and it seems to be sort of random, with some wars from the same alliance appearing for this war and others not.

  29. Except that the beige mechanic is already broken. Players just blockade cycle or just plain let the wars expire before throwing more planes at the target. The intent of the beige mechanic is to prevent players from entering situations where they're better off just going to VM because they aren't being allowed to play anymore. Offensive beige time allows capable players a workaround for this so they can continue to fight. Removing offensive beige requires fixing the brokenness of the beige system altogether.

  37. Man... It's almost... As if the info that those leaks had... Wasn't something that VG had been pushing for, for the better part of literally 2 months. It wasn't a secret to TGH/KT that you wanted to try and roll them. If I remember correctly, Buorhann (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here) came to us following our joining and said something to the effect of "you know they're trying to roll us right?". I know for the fact I spent 95% of my time in VG explaining why it was literally the dumbest idea which was always met with "no cause we have IQ on our side hurr durr" type stuff. Not only that, there was never a heads up that we may have had a leak before that "leak test" cause spoiler alert, we knew we had one we just weren't sure who it was at the time which if you knew we had a leak and who did it you wouldn't have: 1) Lied and said it was Kev when you knew it was Cynic 2) Actually been competent allies and told us who it was and how you knew, cause you guys never actually produced us the logs of said leak, in fact I was removed from high govt chats for repeatedly asking for those logs (remember this came after my long post that was calling all of your leadership incompetent fools). The leaks that were done that I saw however... First came from Polar, in fact, iirc your name was in the logs talking so... I mean... there is that. Second, Cynic leaked. TGH/KT let us know they had gotten the logs. So we knew something was up however we didn't know it was him at the time as the logs weren't released until after IQ rolled us. Because you guys were too scared to actually come to us about it much less hit us, btw real classy offering a fake NAP then pulling that offer 5 minutes before IQ declares on us. I also heard some rumors but never saw any proof that OWR also leaked (which wouldn't surprise me - I've seen wet bags hold water better). Feel free to prove me wrong on this. I'd expect actual logs and screenshots proving you guys somehow didn't know of these "leak tests" because ironically the things BC was given, was literally the plan that Polaris came up with the month prior. But I know this won't happen and I'll get the typical "bro we didn't know" foolishness and as naive as I was at the time I didn't bother screenshotting your ridiculous plots at the time so when you respond with the "show the logs" you'll think you have a "gotcha" moment. But that's fine with me cause it's actually pretty funny watching Polaris burn right now. And I regret absolutely nothing by leaving VG and then getting hit by IQ. Polar has always and will always be nothing more than snakes in the grass. Also, not that it actually matters, but we voted to leave Vanguard a week before we left, we were just holding out on you guys getting smart and not actually trying to go to war with TGH/KT and rather focus on fixing internal things, like your reliance on IQ for all things economic and your fairly poor milcom (which tbf... What I've seen of you all in this war... Has not changed at all). We decided to give you the results of that vote and announce our intentions to leave when you told us we'd be rolling out on a Friday on them. Which for all the talk of it being a leak test that Polaris knew nothing about... You guys sure seemed on board with it in the high govt channels. As far as Cynic stealing the bank, that was unfortunate indeed, the timing was suspicious but I don't blame IQ for that. However, one could see why that would be the obvious go to when BK accepted the bank and Cynic into their alliance and then got mad salty when they were told to return what was given.

  38. Literally none of us were complaining about this mechanic. Attacking enemy or unaligned nation's with poor beige discipline has always been a tactic and nobody to my knowledge has really complained about it. Attacking the protectorate of your direct allies and trying to pay them to beige you is something else entirely. If Smith was hitting blackfyre nation's to get beiged I'm sure you'd all be reporting him. I know I would be. The problem here is there are legitimate reasons to attack someone with no hope of victory. Maybe you are going to suicide in to help someone else or just be an annoying ankle biter. Maybe you're Od and occupied but plan to missile/nuke in a guerilla campaign a la 69 day war. I suppose attacking and doing literally nothing ever wouldn't be much of a fight, but even still it is on the enemy to actually reward you with the beige. I can't see it as applying to any of the current rules, though I could see the argument for a new rule in those edge cases. I think it would be very hard to define though.

  39. Here's the thing: tactics often require an intentional sacrifice for others to be able to win. If that means I "lose" my war, I'm ok with that, because the team wins in the end. IMO, that's totally different than me "not fighting," it's me fighting (however ineffectual my attacks) in a strategic way to reduce enemy defenses enough for someone else to win. Do we really want to insist that you must have "intent" (subjective, must be interpreted by admin/mods for enforcement) to "win" a war when declaring? We already know that "beiging is bad" because the enemy rebuilds if it isn't done in a strategic way. I don't think Alex ever "intended" that, but that's me interpreting that I think he wanted it to be a straightforward way to benefit the "winning" nation in war, without foreseeing the unintended effects. Now, as a result of the war mechanics and incremental changes to them causing even more convoluted strategies, we ALL (except Arrgh, or when raiding) avoid "winning" wars because "winning" too many individual wars causes the large-scale wars to be extended longer. All of these counterintuitive tactics, from the first T$/Jessica Rabbit strategies, and including MaxAir, NoShip, 1-Ship, downselling, score-capping & tiering, etc., began with clever people realizing that the war system had begun to inadvertently present disincentives to operating within "normal" war strategies. They simply did math and figured out the best M.O. based on the best outcomes. At its core, this whole thing is a reflection of deeper issues in war mechanics. I'm not sure anyone, from Alex down to any alliance with complaints, has a comprehensive plan for a complete, fair, and straightforward remake of the war mechanic to make it more logical. In short, simply changing the wording to "you must intend to win" is so subjective, and impossible with the current mechanics, as to be completely unenforceable with any degree of fairness or impartiality. It would be unfair to ask any admin or mod to consistently enforce that rule in a logically defensible way.
