After skimming this thread, all I want to point out is that reputation doesn't do anything. Who cares if someone downvotes your post? It's not as if downvotes hide your content, filter it for other users, or sort it unpreferentially. If you don't like the reputation system, ignore it. It has no bearing on anything.

Strangely enough, it turns out that people who are new to something often don't actually know what the hell they're doing. Mindblowing stuff really, but the numbers don't lie.

War flags are so 2014. Real alliances have a painting goblin locked up in the basement to make a new flag every month that they fly for a day before realizing it's trash and never touching again.

Doesn't that describe his entire thread? Truly, my one downvote, my actual, genuine difference of opinion, was a challenge to his ego and thus, warranting an entire reputation war. All of which included a thread meant to condemn my actions, because clearly I should have known better than to disagree with almighty Duabyoo and It's quite apparent that I'm just some internet troll struggling with mental issues and deficiencies. Obviously, the downvote function was created for the sole purpose of trolling users rather than show genuine disagreement. He was in Egyptian Empire with Alysium when they kicked and rolled him for whatever the heck it was, i forget. He deleted and rerolled, and happened to join me. He then happened to start impersonating Alysium on discord and start sexually harassing people. Cherry on top? He was also multiing! And gave A DIRECT ADMITTANCE WITH EVIDENCE to a guy who just so happened to be buds with my man @Parachotic, evidence that i personally asked the little group of detectives trying to help Aly that i deliver to Alex myself. Yanno, handling family dishonor sort of thing. I find endlessly amusing he went and ranted about it in the app store comments like anybody would know what he's on about. Ok, to answer your question... sort of... I'm not sure you'd understand but I'll try. Anyway, the answer to that is, in a word, propaganda. The point is partly to intimidate your rivals, partly to communicate your willingness to really fight the war as opposed to just kind of lose, and partly to bolster the morale of your own side with and with some effort put in you show that you really care about the war, enough to put in some effort into it at the very least. If you're willing to put that much effort into your war flag, how much effort would you therefore be putting into the actual war? ...And for goodness sake, please make sure you put in effort for your wars whenever they happen.

Each member can upvote/downvote 30 times per day according to the settings. Why? Because you had a bad experience with it? This is a game about politics, making political enemies ingame or on the forums will result in the player(s) you upset, annoyed, angered or/and etc will react. I'm going to be honest here I posted a ton of stupid shit when I first came to this game (due to ignorance of the rules) and was called out for it so I understand. I remember basically the entire alliance of Socialist International telling me to just shut up and keep my head down and never again post something so stupid on their forums. As I said in our government channel, I should have flat out rejected our former FA deity, Tarroc's, protectorate request after seeing the protectorate post those memes. I'm a black man. As someone who IRL has been physically attacked on account of my race, those things mean something personal to me. I deeply value inclusivity. I chose not to fight with Tarroc about them at the time as a gesture of good faith to try to foster more cohesion in the team. I, perhaps incorrectly, anticipated that shutting down his protectorate request would lead to him storming out of Pantheon in a manner similar to the way you did here. However, at the time, you had plenty of opportunity to voice these strong objections. You neither did that in government channels, nor with me in private. Both of us have spoken about a variety of topics in the time since then, and you have not elected to bring up the objections in this post. If you truly do care about their theme enough to leave the alliance because of it, I would have expected that you would voice those concerns contemporaneously or at some point since then.

Hello everyone, Even after doubling our server size recently, we are still struggling with excessive load times due to excessive load on the server. I believe that the source of this excessive load currently is due to heavy usage of the API endpoints. If you are unfamiliar with the game's API, then you can pretty much ignore the rest of this post as it's aimed at API users and will not impact you. First, I understand that the API is poorly designed, poorly optimized, and all around needs to be completely re-done and expanded upon. It's near the top of my to-do list, I am finishing my undergraduate degree this semester and post-graduation I will be spending my time working on the game and will start getting big projects like re-factoring the API done. However, in the meantime, the excessive load on the server is unacceptable. As a result, I am taking a blunt force action to curb the strain on the server until I can set up a proper API system. Beginning at 12:00 AM server time 3/18/2019 all API endpoints will require your API key to work. This should give everyone a few days to get their ducks in a row before the change occurs. There may be bugs as it hasn't been thoroughly tested on all of the pages; if there are report them in the Tech Support subforum and I will have them quickly resolved. API endpoints that already require your API key are not being changed by this update. I am also reducing the number of API requests per user per day. The standard number of calls has been reduced from 10,000 to 2,000 and the number of calls for VIP users has been reduced from 999,999 to 5,000. When the API is refactored this will be changed to a rate limit instead of a daily limit, however I am simply working with the existing interface because I do not have time to rewrite the entire system currently. I understand this is a significant decrease in the number of calls allowed. However, there are 15 API endpoint pages, if you call each of them every 5 minutes every hour per day, that's only 4,320 calls per day, which easily falls within the VIP limit. Realistically, you shouldn't need to call each page every 5 minutes anyway. As-is, the two highest request users are just barely reaching over 2,000 calls per day, with an average of the top 10 users being 764.7 calls, a median of 507, and a range of 1962. I understand not all calls are being recorded here, but the point is that for the average API user this should not be a significant limitation. The point of this update is to curb usage of the API, and by creating a scarcity I am hoping to discourage people from making too many calls and causing ridiculous load times for regular users. Yes, it's a poor fix, but as I've stated it is a temporary solution until I have the time to properly refactor the API. I did not want to have to do this, but it seems to me a necessary sacrifice given the conditions the game is currently operating under. If you have any questions, please ask below.

@Alex if you are going to do this, can you at least give each person 2 seperate api keys, one for public apis (war, alliances/nations etc) and one for private apis (alliance members, bank)? I can't grant edit access to my sheets to anyone now because they'll just be able to open up the script editor and look directly at my api key, then use it to pull whatever private alliance api data they like.

Ofc, jokes aside, it's an understandable change and I can't fault you on this too much. If you think the servers are going to have a lot less load on them via this change, it'll generally be the best thing for the casual playerbase that doesn't really use the api. If the game loads faster, than I'm perfectly willing to compromise and have the cap. What this might influence a lot is things like recruitment bots and of course Frawley's awesome stat tracker, so you might want to see if you can make a compromise for those 2, and maybe some other things. Recruitment bots are great because they pick up newer players which than have a lot larger retention than players that don't ever join alliances. Maybe to make that compromise you could add an option where people can use alliance keys instead that have a larger cap, maybe 10,000 or something.
