  1. Everyone has their ambitious small alliance phase. Beats the heck out of their perpetual purity spiral flameout stagnation phase. In general, it's always good to have some kind of goal in mind and some kind of way of assessing what "success" and what "failure" will look like. I don't particularly care much to define it for others, but if you can't state a clear goal for your alliance in the mid and long term, you probably are spinning your wheels and better off seeking alternative employment. I could give two shits about how many members and how much NS an alliance has if it has a purpose that it's making continuous incremental headway on. It's also just really hard to give government members a chance to experience true responsibility if it isn't something they've never captained their own ship before, as well as just being really hard to turn the keys over to a very large AA to someone to give them a chance to just figure it out. I'd rather choose an ambitious, driven guy from a modicum of success in the micro to medium world to place some responsibility on than try to train from scratch, all things being equal and the creek don't rise.

  2. On the one hand, they do cause some harm... on the other hand, their polar opposites, the mass-recruitment blob alliances, can and do far, far more harm to the game's 'progression', as you put it. I'd say don't be afraid to be small, don't be afraid to get into conflict, and don't be afraid to get rolled. Getting rolled is okay, giving up in the face of hardship is not. Also third

  3. SYNDICARE PRESS RELEASE: SHUFFLING OF INVESTMENTS NASSAU, Bahamas, 2019-02-19: SYNDICATE, Inc., (NYSE:SCC) is hereby announcing some changes to its Syndicare programme portfolio, under which the Syndicate protects, assists, and mentors smaller and/or younger alliances. The post war economy has been a time of reflection at SYNDICATE, INC headquarters and as a result we have decided to withdraw specific investments that are showing less than optimal quarterly growth and instead purchase stakes in some up and coming markets with great expansion opportunities. A recap of some of the changes to the Syndicare portfolio are listed below: December 26th, 2018: Our foray into the sector of organized crime was a bust and SYNDICATE, INC is announcing the dissolution of La Mafia and their place in the Syndicare portfolio. February 5th, 2019: SYNDICATE, INC cancelled our endorsement of Animal Farm and withdrew our minority stake in the direction of the farm’s future. We are confident our partners in Church of Atom will provide all the expertise needed going forward. February 19th, 2019: SYNDICATE, INC has reviewed the past and present performance of one of our earliest investments in the reformed Syndicare portfolio and found the results to be subpar. Our board has decided to withdraw our assets from the Federation to be reinvested in areas with higher growth potentials. Our partners in Pantheon will nonetheless provide all the care needed for the Federation and we wish them the best going forward. February 19th, 2019: SYNDICATE, INC has decided to pull all support from Dark Brotherhood effectively immediately from this announcement. A committee was established to assess the future investment potential and it was decided that the agreement had reached its maturity. This decision was a top priority for the board. Our stakeholder relations and investment teams have been hard at work brokering deals with markets where SYNDICATE, INC predicts lucrative investment possibilities. After extensive negotiations with interested parties, the Syndicare portfolio has been expanded to add two up and coming conglomerates with huge potential. We are pleased to announce the addition of Typhon and Aurora to the Syndicare family and hope to have a hand in their continued success. We would also like to announce our continued support for the Knights of Malta after a strategic merger happened with United Hoods granting us shares in this new endeavour. About SYNDICATE, Inc. SYNDICATE, Inc., based near Nassau, The Bahamas, is the world's leading gasoline, aluminum and munitions distributor for a wide variety of peacekeeping and humanitarian activities. Wholly-owned SYNDICATE, Inc. subsidiary brands also include League of Heroes, which promotes the safety and well being of all Syndicate employees through their rent a hero program, the Enterprise, a top tier academy for Syndicate associates which provides successful candidates with educational training and prosperity, and Church of Atom, which SYNDICATE, Inc., is a proud patron, their continued commitment to aid the less fortunate through faith and charity is a benchmark we should all aim for. 4. Well, the worst harm that they can cause is pretty much the same harm as the mass alliances can cause, which is to be so structured, defensive, and cautious as to give a completely boring and terrible gameplay experience to their membership, and thus turn otherwise promising players off of the game. We don't have nearly enough retention as it is.

  7. I am not really one to type something like this but I really hope it receives warm welcomes from the community. Cino who is my second in charge is currently going through health issues and I'd appreciate if people would lift him up in their prayers. It would really mean a lot to me, please lets lift his name up and pray for healing in the Lords name.

  8. I mean, why is Camelot angry about being called trash? During KT, I repeatedly called them trash, and so did many others. And probably most of Orbis would too. Camelot just backs the point up by attacking the smaller dude. Show us you're not trash and dec somebody that'll actually be a challenge .

  9. Imo, government competency is probably the biggest determining factor. From experience during my past iterations in Orbis, micros are generally bad if they have inactive leaders, suck at the game, or don't know how to position themselves diplomatically. So I'd judge competence mostly on their leaders' activity, game knowledge, and how they interact with other alliances. The second is how quickly they can grow out of micro status, since that really is the goal (or should be) of all micros.

  10. Ahhhh yesss, nothing like getting triggered by an article and recruiting your protectorates and Arrgh to fight a micro on a scale of 5:1(not counting Arrgh). That sure makes you look a lot better than the article portrayed you. Pffft please, more like a burning trash compactor.

  11. He briefly rated his own alliance as well. I’m guessing you didn’t read the article. You should check it out, it was an entertaining read. So if anything it’s like a homeless guy talking about how small the house that he is sleeping in front of is, and then saying “but who cares what I think, I’m homeless” Then the homeowners of said house give their kids a gun and tell them to go shoot the homeless guy in the face.

  12. I voted for Harm, but in all honesty, even large alliances can cause harm. There's like... 2 right now that do that I can list off. There's a few more that are questionable. Just a hint: We've moved from eliminating GPA type alliances to protecting them now. I do second some of what Auctor stated. The only real value of a micro alliance is giving people a chance at some responsibility. Chances are, they'll fail hard, but whether they learn from it or not - who knows till they do it. The ones who keep creating over and over and still failing are obviously ones who aren't learning and therefore are detrimental to the community when they recruit new players, because chances are - they're just teaching them how to fail. I will always recommend players to join a Top 20 Alliance and learn the game first before splitting off to do their own thing.

  21. Sometimes, your grandma is right. The dark powers locked away in the abyss of flames must never be unleashed. But she never told you they couldn’t….. Tonight, we rise from those very flames the Creator banished us into. Tonight, we spread our charred wings and cover the moon behind them. Tonight, we plunge the world into eternal chaos and darkness and declare war against Him. Grigori hereby declares its existence. We are protected by Polaris https://discord.gg/TaVeTBc Miss you Roz. 22. Sometimes, I see people *blitzing*. *sigh* Remember. It isnt a blitz if you dont slot everyone. It isnt a blitz if you dont slot everyone within 5 mins of the first war dec. So, how to blitz? 1) Plan it in advance-Like a week or two earlier. Make a sheet. 2) Make sure to let your members know when to be online. It doesnt need to be at day change. It can be at anytime you know everyone will be online at. 3) Make sure to ping/Dm targets 15 mins before the shit starts. Make sure to give **clear instructions**. 4) Make sure to counter counters within 2 mins of war declaration with a 3-man team. 5) Go for the AS or GC first. Blockades come in second. 6) Make sure your members have a good warchest. That is basically how you do a blitz. A PROPER FRIKING BLITZ.

  24. Lay down two ground attacks and then quickly delete all ground units before you can be countered. Follow up only with nukes and be sure to post frequently about how nukes are the only valid and effective ingame unit.

  25. I agree with this generally, but I don't agree this is inherent to micros. I've joined big alliances that gave me the exact experience you're describing, and I've built up micros who were part of some exciting wars and backroom politics.

  28. “Lady. The message has arrived. Shall I read it?” “No need. I know exactly what it says. They agreed. Brief the others.” “Of course.” Vexz looked over her plans one final time. “You can clean these papers up, Spaceling.” They would be breaking ground on the Church shortly. She was told it would be a great inaugural event, the first of its kind. She wasn’t as excited, but for the most part, she found the Church followers useful enough creatures. Strong backs, didn’t ask too many questions. She hoped to give each of her subjects at least two. “Lady, the delegates have arrived.” “Send them in fifteen minutes. They can wait in the meantime.” The men who entered were a strange looking crew. One was being carried along in a dais, sitting cross legged, with his eyes closed, completely naked. Another was wearing a dashing suit, but she quickly noted mud and rusted blood along its cuffs, a perfect counterpoint to his wry smirk. And the last, for some reason, was counting all the columns in her meeting room, and making notes in a small ledger. “Ripper, Spaceman, Seb.... welcome. I’m so pleased to host you here. And I know you will not have forgotten all the gifts promised to my people.” Ripper spoke quickly: “Of course. Everything is as you asked. I am super polite. Ask anyone.” “That’s… that’s a little weird, but yes, okay, excellent. Thank you. Assuming that those gifts are in order, I am pleased to accept your offer.” Seb spoke next: “Thirty four sub offers. All important. You accept each. This is necessary. Thirty four. No less.” Ripper turned to him: “I apologize, Queen. We will excuse ourselves while you make your arrangements. But if there is anything we can do, please let me know.” The Spaceman laughed, his eyes shooting open, and his hands clapping emphatically. “Wangs. Hilarious!” the attendants around him excitedly fanned him, and he quickly settled back into his trance. Vexz was next to speak: “I don’t see much reason why you will need to stay much longer. If I need something, I will let you know, and I trust you will be able to handle it.” she smiled, and looked at the handsome Spacelings that had been provided her, and the first shipment of Goomy nudes being dumped onto the front of her meeting room. She noted Bezzers carrying the first shipment: the whip and nail marks were healing nicely, and he meekly looked away. “This will do, for now. Your colony is established, and you, of course, are totally in charge.” Ripper smiled a thousand-watt grin as his own offering of nudes fell through his shaking hands. “I’m in charge!”. tl;dr "Men will do pretty much anything if you let them think they are in charge"
