  7. 1. Denial and isolation "My nation was never GPA! If it was, then everybody was GPA!" The first reaction to learning about ever being GPA is to deny the reality of the situation. “This isn’t happening, this can’t be happening,” people often think. It is a normal reaction to rationalize your overwhelming emotions. Denial is a common defense mechanism that buffers the immediate shock of being GPA, numbing you to your emotions. You block out the words and hide from the facts. You start to believe that life is meaningless, and nothing is of any value any longer. For most people experiencing grief, this stage is a temporary response that carries you through the first wave of pain. 2. Anger "It wasn't me! And who is this Naam, and why would he accept such an application?!" As the masking effects of denial and isolation begin to wear, reality and its pain re-emerge. You are not ready. The intense emotion is deflected from your vulnerable core, redirected and expressed instead as anger. The anger may be aimed at inanimate objects, innocent hobbits, complete strangers, friends or family. Anger may be directed at GPA. Rationally, you know GPA is not to be blamed. Emotionally, however, you may resent the GPA for ever accepting you or for leaving you. You feel guilty for being angry, and this makes you more angry. 3. Bargaining "Please Sheepy! Change my nation ID!" The normal reaction to feelings of helplessness and vulnerability is often a need to regain control through a series of “If only” statements, such as: If only I had sought another alliance sooner… If only I got a second opinion from another P&W player… If only I had tried to be a better member toward them, we could've pushed them away from neutrality sooner… This is an attempt to bargain. Secretly, you may make a deal with Sheepy in an attempt to change your nation ID. This is a weaker line of defense to protect you from the painful reality. 4. Depression "I wasted so much time being GPA, yet my nation misses it so much..." There are two types of depression that are associated with mourning. The first one is a reaction to practical implications relating to being GPA. Sadness and regret predominate this type of depression. You worry about consequences. You worry that, in your grief, you have spent less time with others that depend on you. This phase may be eased by simple clarification and reassurance. You may need a bit of helpful cooperation and a few kind words. The second type of depression is more subtle and, in a sense, perhaps more private. It is your quiet preparation to separate and to bid GPA farewell. Sometimes all you really need is a hug. 5. Acceptance. "My nation was GPA." Reaching this stage of grieving is a gift not afforded to everyone. GPA may be sudden and unexpected or you may never see beyond your anger or denial. It is not necessarily a mark of bravery to resist the inevitable and to deny yourself the opportunity to make your peace. This phase is marked by withdrawal and calm. This is not a period of happiness and must be distinguished from depression. Coping with GPA is ultimately a deeply personal and singular experience — nobody can help you go through it more easily or understand all the emotions that you’re going through. But others can be there for you and help comfort you through this process. The best thing you can do is to allow yourself to feel the grief as it comes over you. Resisting it only will prolong the natural process of healing.

  12. .: Classified:. "Project Compass and Project Frontier have been completed. As of now, the new Arc Generator has been developed. We've created the small, medium and large. The small generator produces 30 Gigawatys of power, the medium produces 50 gogawatts, and the large produces 140 giggawatts. Each generator is half the size of their sole fusion based predecessors. Additionally, Project Compass has been completed. Our slipspace precision travel has been perfected. We can travel into even the atmosphere of planets now, while we've also Incorporated the hybridization of the French Hyperdrive. The sheer speed of the hyper drive, mixed with the mobility and precision of the slip space, will let us travel 240 light years within a day, effectively." The head researcher described to the ONI Director. "So what you're saying is, we can do 11 round trips from Reach in a 24 hour period...?" Cait asked, a look of disbelief clearly displayed. "Yes ma'am. And the Arc Generator costs only 63% of what the fusion reactor costed us. Though, the new drove has increased by 24%, costing an additionally 45 million per drive." He told her nonchalantly. "I want every vessel outfitted with these the second we have the opportunity. This will revolutionize our deployment methods." Cait ordered unquestionably. "Of course, ma'am. Now, we need you to approve another project. This project is dubbed Project Stasis. This project will eliminate the g-force issues our pilots encounter when going beyond certain speeds. It will also be useful in detaining prisoners, in increasing survival rates with drop pods, and delaying critically wounded passengers from dying due to their deaths." The man began explaining in great detail. "Of course, you have our approval. Due to the success of your previous project, funds will be appropriated as the needs arose. Don't get carried away, though." Cait told him as she swiveled in her seat.

  14. When GPA P&W started, like some other alliances who originated in CN, their forums were hosted in a subsection of their CN forums. VE P&W did this as well so they didn't have to pay for hosting on 2 different forums. Both P&W alliances eventually created their own forums because it turned into a security issue as gov in CN and P&W were no longer the same people, and nobody really wanted people from another game to have admin access to their private forums. And since we've established that the screenshot is hella old, that was from when GPA P&W forums were still hosted on their original forums. Now, can I stop giving history lessons and doctor the alleged screenshot of me, please?

  16. As we see above, we can at this time confirm that thee, Eva-Beatrice, Imperial Officer of Polaris has not gone back into VM and has finally joined the members she helps govern in the fight. But, Eva was not the only one guilty of dodging the war. We are now waiting on the bank hiding bandit Featherine of Meta Board, another Imperial Officer of Polaris to come out and join the fight. Featherine immediately went into VM to illegally protect the bank as the war started and went back into VM after the first VM timer expired. Come back in 8 days to see if another Polaris government member will willingly join the war that the rest of the alliance has been busy fighting.

  23. >:| I rerolled my nation when the game went live because I goofed up my collection But yes, I joined PW about a few weeks after Alex made it so my nation id (53!) is among the oldest IDs still in use. That carried over through the Speed Round, Beta, and even today. The oldest nations in the leaderboard page are when the game was released, neither Alpha or Beta.

  24. French Foreign Minister The Treaty of Paris (2008) This Treaty is set to de-escalate tensions in the North American continent amid heightened tensions. The agreement was struck by the UNSC Diplomatic staff and American diplomats invited to Paris and agreed to by both parties. As such, French assets in Boston have begun to disassemble military bases, financial assets no longer required, and other French national security issues in Boston. French Military Command has prepared to reach the 25% drawdown for 2009 and the second-wave of 25% for 2010.

  25. OK, I I got lucky enough to fight Belgica (https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=29685) before he re-upped his VM immediately after the latest turn. I know VM doesn't allow you to be spied upon, but if you're fighting a war against someone, shouldn't you be allowed to spy on them, regardless of if they ran off to VM? Was wondering if this was an overlooked bug.

  26. Due to the decreased effectiveness of nukes, I would like to recommend a change to the cost of nukes. As they are generally speaking half as effective as they used to be in terms of damage output, I think it would make sense for them to be much cheaper in terms of cost. Currently, nukes cost: $1.75 million, 750 aluminum, 500 gas and 250 uranium Compare this to a missile, which has about a 1/5th of the power of a nuclear weapon: $150,000 100 aluminum, 75 gas, 75 munitions Let's make nukes scale to effectiveness in terms of cost. They are five times as powerful as missiles, so they should be about five times more expensive, leave the uranium amount the same: With this you end up with: $750,000, 500 aluminum, 375 gas, 250 uranium

  31. This is what i meant by allocating Treasury funds. (sorry for the terminology confusion when i say treasury i mean alliance bank) Thanks for your concise explanation, i knew most of the other stuff, other than that blockaded nations can trade with the nation blockading them and the taxes obviously, but hopefully if someone in the future searches for this question they might learn something they didn't know.

  32. I did some debugging and you're right, thanks so much for catching this! I knew I was bound to make a mistake somewhere. I mistakenly counted the money lost for a player in a finished war as loot for that player when it really should've been for the other side. Here are the updated stats:

  33. You're wrong about trade. When blockaded, you can still trade, but only with the nation that blockaded you.
