As of now, the Orbis team slack I've created hasn't received any new members, but I've had several invites. I'm not sure if this is due to a communication error between slack and typeform, if the instructions are unclear, or if people just aren't interested enough...
However, within my alliance, those that have joined slack have thought it to be a great tool and program! public channels and private groups allow everyone to be happy and communicate easily. As an admin, i can't see private messages or private groups, something I was afraid of with being an admin for the Orbis team as well.
I've also been able to get cross-team communication between the Orbis "team" and the Cornerstone "team". This is great because it allows for teams to communicate with each other in a specified channel while keeping everything else private.
The last downside I see to slack currently, is the inability to PM across multiple teams. I've searched for a solution but haven't found anything yet. So my following solutions would be this:
1. Each member could be a member of their alliance's "team" and the Orbis "team". They could then PM through the Orbis "team" (Slack allows easy changing of teams)
2. Host all alliances on the Orbis "team" where they can then create private groups for alliance members to discuss in private. This would create a lot of channels that anyone could join, but it would be the same idea as what we currently have with coldfront, except with easier use and better control over who is in someones channel.
I would love to hear what others think about the idea of moving from coldfront (IRC) to Slack!
Until the next update,
Resitus
