Pressure to Pick a Successor

Amaryllis

Unlike her mother and grandmother, Empress Amaryllis had never been in a hurry to pick who would succeed her. Tradition would place predictions on First Princess Lucia or Second Princess Gem be chosen, but many had speculated that First Prince Ericson would be chosen due to him possibly being the empress's favorite.

This favor had increased due to First Princess Lucia loosing popularity over her relationship and marriage to Chairman Tenchi Mitsunari and Second Princess Gem's shy demeanour that would prevent her from being an effective ruler.

The decisioon, as stated, is the empress's but the people and the advisory board has placed pressure to make that decision, believing it would quell some fears and also establish some faith in the royal family as it had taken a hit after the wedding and divorce. Some had also stated that another attempt on her life could happen and so an heir should be chosen.

When the empress was addressed with this decision she issued this statement.

"I'm not dying last time I checked and choosing successor is a big decision. All of my children whave qualities that would make them great leaders and I won't snub deny the other two for petty reasons."

This was met with negative reception but as it was known, the empress could only make the decision and we of Wintery will have to wait a little longer.
