While war wages on within Politics and War and currently my nation is losing pixels for a great cause, today is also a day to remember the men and women across the United States who have given everything to protect our great nation! As we continue to fight our pixel wars let us all take a moment to remember those around us who have served and gave their all for nation(s) that we really live in. Let us salute those who have fallen and remember them for the sacrifices they gave!

I recently lost my Grandfather a few weeks back! He was a great man that served in Korea and Vietnam repairing helicopters in the 1st Cavalry Division. I knew he had lung issues but didn't realize that it was most likely contributed to Agent Orange, and was the reason he passed so soon and unexpectedly. He was a great man who never stopped working despite his complications, and when we had the chance to see him, he always cared to ask how things were going for us! Thank you for your service Sir!

Nobody wins in a war. But the lessons we get from wartime, and the bittersweet happenings on its duration, is worth remembering and understanding.

Well said. My Grandfather fought in the Vietnam War and has never truly recovered. Throughout history my relatives have fought. There are no winners in war. World War II had my Great Uncles killing each other on the battlefield. Nothing, I repeat, nothing, is worth the loss of life caused by war. Well said Restius

My grandfather was a class of '44 Naval Academy grad and spent the last 18 months of WWII adoard a battleship and a sub in the pacific. He saw a fair bit of action but thankfully made it out alright. He didn't stay in long after, he resigned his commision in the winter of '46 and never looked back. My brother did 10 years in the Navy as a sub sonarman and I did 20 years (retired back in '12) as a surface ship electronics tech. I can honestly say, thought all my years of service, I've personally not know anyone who has died on the battlefield. I did however know a guy who I served with onboard a ship in Hawaii who latter went on the Pentagon and was killed there during 9/11. The dude was a little out there....but a great guy none the less. To all the families and loved ones of thosewhohave fallen and paid the ultimate sacrifice on behave of our great nation, I salute you and keep you.....and them, in my prayers.

I mean, even if you are somebody who thinks there are countries with better policies, you have to respect those soldiers who risk and lose it all for the protection of our country. Think of where we would be right now if it weren't for our soldiers protecting us. They deserve all of our respect.
