This interview took place on August 24th, 1997.

[Dimitri Valko] Alright, let this interview commence!

[Lucia Svadin] I'm Lucia Svadin of the Khevin News Network, and I am joined here by the President of Ryas, Dimitri Valko, and the First Lady of Ryas, Eathelyn Valko! I've heard that you have some information on your pregnancy, please share.

[Eathelyn Valko] Thank you for being here, Lucia. The pregnancy is going well, and just this morning, we have found two very important things. Alright, so... we're having fraternal twins! A boy and a girl, the boy's name is Petrus Valdemaras Valko (Pronounced PE-truws vahl-DE-mahrus vahl-kho), yes, the middle name is named after good friend Vladimir Zhogin, and the girl is Vitaliya Katia Valko (Pronounced VI-tahl-I-ya KAH-tyah vahl-kho)! It's been a very joyous day, and I'm so happy to be having twins.

[Dimitri Valko] Yes, it was great news. I'm also pleased that we could easily decide on such eloquent names for the children.

[Lucia Svadin] So, how far are you into this pregnancy, Eathelyn?

[Eathelyn Valko] Around fourteen weeks.

[Lucia Svadin] So you're expected in February?

[Eathelyn Valko] Late February or early March, yes.

[Lucia Svadin] And how old are the two of you?

[Eathelyn Valko] We're both twenty-nine.

[Lucia Svadin] Dimitri, how did you two meet?

[Dimitri Valko] We met around eighteen years ago through school, and started dating nine years ago. Engaged in '95 and married in '96.

[Lucia Svadin] Rumours have gone around Korithe that your brother is developing an "Elixir of Life". Is this true?

[Dimitri Valko] How the f**k did people find out about that? I mean, yeah, it's true, but how'd they know? Are they wizards? Is there a spy? But most importantly... ARE THEY WIZARDS?

[Lucia Svadin] ...

[Dimitri Valko] Sorry.

[Lucia Svadin] ... Moving on... How is this development going?

[Dimitri Valko] Well, first off, it's no "elixir". We've been messing with the human genome, and been able to prevent death for a substantial amount of time in willing volunteers. However, these people died of unnatural causes, such as car accidents and the like, so we still have a long way to go to make super-soldiers.

[Lucia Svadin] Alright! Thank you for having me, and goodnight!

Khevin will fund these experiments and we would like for you to show us your studies. The prisoners would be very glad to be tested on for freedom.

He said he wanted to make people immortal, Mr. Zhogin. I'm all for the stuff you said, but I wouldn't like it if everyone was immortal. Besides - If nobody died, we'd die from other stuff like overpopulation. A long life is good, a forever life is bad.

I agree that immortality isn't necessarily a good thing, but I'm trying more to make death less agonising and unexpected to the individual. I expect it will only be shared with the world's elite figures, as it will cost billions.
